Big Buddha Cheese: Part Deux

Hey GR. I have a question for you. Do your buds always foxtail? The reason I ask is because I am having the same problem with my CMH lights. My last grow was kind of a bust because i grew it to press. There was not near as much rosin as I was expecting. I'm pretty sure it was from all the foxtailing

I believe it is strain related, have heard that the cheese strains tend to foxtail. Have not had this issue with the other strains I have grown under the 315's.
As far as the trich production, there is not as much on the fans and sugar leaves, as say the LSD from that grow so I believe it is also strain related. Still get a good high and it makes some nice FECO but at slightly reduced rates.

I have three pheno's of the Big Buddha Cheese in the tent now and only one has fox tailed.

HayStack, what rosin press are you using?

HayStack, what rosin press are you using?
This is my press. It's a 20 ton press from Harbor Freight and the plates are 4x7 from Low Temp. But I think 20 tons is a little over kill. I have another 6 ton that seems to work just as well. But my friend wanted to try a 20 ton, so we got it.

Last night after checking the trichs, 50 plus % cloudy, I began the flush.
Added 6 gallons to the rez that had about 3 gallons in it. Starting ppm was 600, finish was 444, then pH'ed. I checked the rinsate of the first heavy run @ 9 PM last night and it was 755 ppm and 6.15 pH, so I added an extra minute on all 4 watering cycles. After the other three cycles last night I check it again this morning after the last cycle @ 8 AM and it was 710 ppm and 5.99 pH. About 6 gallons used. Was surprised at the ppm last night, have not been checking runoff but have been doing the every four day mini flush when emptying the rez. Glad I have begun the flush.

Well be out late tonight so will not be able to check stuff till after tomorrow mornings final cycle. Added another 6 gallons plus Cannazym, Boost but no nutes. Increased Drip Clean from 0.6 ml to 1 ml. PPM = 313

Shutting off the pump in the morning prior to the last cycle and water by hand, unsure how much I will be giving the ladies but would like to get the ppm below 525 and continue to flush till harvest. I will continue adding Cannazym, Boost and Drip Clean and some CaliMagic or tap water just to maintain the rez ppm's over 100 for pH'ing.

Couple of pics from last night.
Can see Pheno #2 with the Foxtailing in the background of this pic. No Foxtailing on the main focus plant Pheno #3.

This is one of the side buds off one of the #2's, just love the color.

Not too many days till harvest. Main Cola's first then lower the lamps and give the bottom portions another few days to a week.

Peace out, beads, bells, incense and love.

GR

Started harvest today, I know I did not flush enough but the rinsate is coming out @ 190 ppm and 5.85 pH.
So I started with the main colas, pheno #2 first, will try and get all mains done by tomorrow, then wait a week or so for the lower growth.

First days harvest is done, did not get as much done as I expected but happy and tired. I need better light and magnification, these ol eye's just don't have it anymore.

What got done today.

Bud on the left is the largest so far, 99 grams wet weight.

Over half way on the main cola's, will finish them in the morning, expecting 12 to 16 zips from them.
Going to let all lower growth run for a week or so. These were, overall, not as cloudy as I like.
For the lower growth I want cloudy with some amber for making the FECO.

Just a little then and now photos

Today

Now tomorrow I will be doing a lot of stretching, trying to get to those back buds. This ol' man going to more sore tomorrow than he is today.

Finishes the Mains.

Now let's give those lower buds more time, I was really shocked when I started harvest to see that the buds weren't where I though they should be. I was seeing 50% plus cloudy on the upper portions but most the trichs lower on the buds were just smoky, no amber.
So I lowered the lamps and going to give them another few days and watch them closely, again on this portion of the grow I want very few clear, mostly cloudy and amber. Thinking of removing one of the 315's and replacing it with my 400 LED with the two UV lamps on the sides. See what it does to the trich production.

Nice chunk buds on the tops!

Not sure I will get the weight I expected, will have to see what them lower buds look like when I harvest in the next week or so. Most are palm size nugs. Fairly sure I will get my 1 gram/watt so all is good in the ol' 4 X 4.
I am thinking of just harvesting everything that touches the screen and the rest just go directly into FECO.
Have an idea for a Scrog maybe for next spring.

After 5 days hanging I put the cola's in a plastic bag for 24 hours, to let them re-hydrate. Worked just fine. Now a few days hanging, then jar and cure.
Here are three of the 7 hangers, a length shot and some buds that are still in the tent.

, worked

Got the mains dried, trimmed and in jars for curing.
Close to what I thought the dry weight would be based on the wet weight.
14.5 zips, a little heavier than thought it would be, but the buds are tight and heavy.
Tested #2 today, smooth on the throat and lungs, good buz and going to make some great FECO.
