Barney's Farm Blueberry Cheese, 600 Watt HPS, DWC, Rockwool

I would bet when the roots hit the water they will leave the potted plants behind in terms of speed of growth.

Yea I have noticed crazy growth the past day or two. Just a day or two ago there was only one root hanging down.

Todays root porn:

Topped Blue Cheese this morning! Earlier than I normally do. Want to start the 2 tops sooner than later. Everything is getting cut under this topping once she gets bigger. And of course topped using the low stress way. Just bend over the top most growth side ways and it snaps right off. No cutting required.

Thank you smokey for letting me know that. Phantom actually got with me as well and told me about it. I had no idea. Im in contact with GeoFlora as well asking why and whats the issue and if its something I can get by with. As long as its just a PPM issue I can dose it accordingly using my meter. Im trying to find out why its not a good idea.
You really want to watch organic nutrients in hydro anyway

Keep the updates coming @HunterNitro :). Love watching the progress. Remember us Newbies have no idea what we are doing and this really helps us out a lot. I am going to try DWC my next round in about a month or so after my first grow is done. About the nutes with DWC, there are certain ones that work best and some that don’t work at all, correct? I am using Remo right now. I may have to look at ones that are for
Hydro?
I used Remo Calmag for quite a while with no ossues in RDWC. To be honest, ive never tried his base nutes

My only advise would be careful what else you use with it. You will have ver 3 you shouldn't need anything else. Plenty of people have gotten into trouble trying to use additives even the MC additives.
Their Calmag can be problematic per Dr Doob

pHed down to 5.7 from 6.1
PPM still 600
Water temp is 75 degrees.

Everything seems pretty stable so far. Noticed the pH does stay on the rise early on for a few days. What are you guys using for pH down?
Grow More makes an Up and Down that is 30% stronger and its cheaper than Gen Hydro

I dont think ive ever started a DWC and soil grow at the same time. Its crazy to see the differences in growth between the two. Both look amazing, I think the DWC is outgrowing the soil by a bit to only be 1-2 days older.

PPM: 600
pH Stable at 6.0 after 2-3 days of res change, pHed down to 5.7.
Res temp 73.5F

Will be topping Blue cheese using my method very soon. Once topped and recovered and more growth, all nodes below the topping will be cut. We are going to be focusing on main tops, fewer tops, and massive colas on this grow.

Yesterday was transplant time, Got my smart pots out, Have 1 - 3 gallon, 4 - 5 gallons, and 4 - 7 gallons lol, couldnt transplant... I wanted to transplant all 3 in 3 gallons. So i watered and ordered more 3 gallons. Be here tomorrow for the transplant. Roots are all over the bottom of the cups. That RECHARGE doesnt play.... Crazy root growth.
I almost always run both. I had a 3x3 closet in my shed for soil. Hydro gets the rest. Heres mine now...

I like your rig. You're gonna kill it

Thanks for the info Stltoed! Yea its always nice to have multiple grows going, at least for me. Yea im sure organic in hydro can get a little icky if not careful lol.... Im sticking with the MC right now, and loving it so far.

have you done a side by side comparison for scissor topping vs finger topping? looks lovely in here all your ladies are gorgeous.

I havent actually done a side by side! I think that would be interesting. As fast as cannabis recovers im sure it would be about the same growth rates. I think the finger method as you call it, is just less stressful as its very little plant that gets cut/broke. Both are still waiting for the two nodes to grow out to form the two tops. Thanks for the compliments!

I just give them the finger. I just gave it to them again this morning... damn things were due on the 4th!

But seriously... i used to pull them off with fingers, but i find you need a bit of stem at the crotch for later. It doesnt really do much but, if the stem is completely removed it can make the crotch more prone to splitting, which makes SCROG or LST. It won't happen to every strain. Ive only had issues with one strain, Wembley, but I lost more than one branch. I have a truly awful picture for you. Its not gruesome or anything like that, its just an awful picture.

So, if you look just to the right of my fingers you will see the top node and a cleanly shaven crotch...(!?). Its hard to see i apologize, but when I trained my plants a little too much too fast I would get the curse of the crotch.

This was just one strain. Again I never had this issue with other strains, but I didn't know what i was in for when I topped them. They all have seriously hollow stems, which made super cropping an issue also, but i will be cutting the top from here out

You're not kidding but I think I see but don't know what i'm looking at what you mean clean shave like no calyxes? And you hit the nail on the head for why I cut not finger pinch, I have always found I need at least a half inch of stem above a node for topping as if the plant gets huge it's knuckle at the node swallows all the extra and if there is no extra I have seen splitting. less stress would be a big factor but I agree these ladies are always resilient and i don't forsee a difference if you ran a side by side

I have run organic products but not a full on base nute with additives full organic season. I almost lost everything while using something called Super Nova (if I remember right... i smoke pot) completely thrashed my King Tut grow, I had to put them in soil... what a nightmare. I would like to experiment with true organic growing, using a biofilter and all that, but im not sure if im able to take that much disappointment. I just grew Strawberry Banana for over i year. I needed a big grow to make myself feel better.

Yeah, I dont believe you will see a difference between cutting or pulling a top off. If you can get it to FIM then obviously you'll need scissors. Even if they split its not a problem. Just gotta keep it stationary for a little but, which can suck when you're training your plant

In your opinion what would be more stressful on a plant I honestly have no opinion as idk. Cutting instead of pinching and leaving extra stem or the plant getting a split that we have to tape and support? Idk if I ever seen a plant slow that much from either on this website when a strong healthy plant to begin with.

Sorry Hunter if I am asking needless questions on your journal it was just a topic I had wanted an opinion on for awhile and seen it had come up

I haven't seen a difference. Ive only had 1 issue with a broken or split branch, it was just too far gone. All the rest did just fine one plant im running now had a serious split just above the root crown. Its 50 inches long and equal to the rest of the plant. If you look at monster cropping thats basically the same thing. Your breaking the plant. You'd think this would affect the phoem and Xylem, but ive never had issues with it, some will say the plant will grow bigger because of it. A lot of times stress is your best friend when growing bud
