BakedARea's Cultivated Blessings: A Myriad Of Genetics & Shenanigans

Another quick drive by...they are growing. Stretching and bending continues. I may need to be a piece of cardboard or something to block the higher output light next door.

How long do you all normally veg your seedlings in pots like these? These are 3". I've used these before, and my average time was all over the place because I wad doing it outside and the temps were swinging much more compared to the consistency of the tent. 2 weeks seem about right?

This seedling mix does not have any added nutrients except for the worm castings. I was thinking of giving them @GeoFlora Nutrients in these 3" pots tonight and give them a light drench. Just to start the breakdown process of the organics. Thoughts?!
There looking good. Let the soil mix their in, dry out for 18-30 hours. They look well, but a little moist. I start seedlings in round 4 inch starter pots. Let em veg 10-14 days. Then I think about transplanting. I wish I could send you a few bags of my locally sourced super soil @BakedARea!!! It rocks for even seedlings!

Coming in with another quick pic. Not much else to report other than they are growing strong! I have not yet watered them. I'm getting the itch to water...

I'm getting separation from the sides of the pot. I'm tempted to fill it in some more and also top off with another 1/2" of soil on top. Help add stability to the stalks. They are fine right now, but mainly as a precautionary top off.

I meant to reply earlier and had to stop...

Another very late day of work...damn I wish I could vent.
Water when they're light! And with pots that short you could probably bottom water to keep the stems from damping off.
Thanks Shed. I'm not too well versed on the causes of damping off. Read somewhere around here by someone way smarter than me say something about a fungus that causes the "damping off"? I need to go look it up and understand it better. I'm sure I have read it before but some things just don't sink in.

The pots were light. I had to wait until the lights came back on to check. Most of them have the first signs of roots coming out the bottoms! Pretty stoked to see that. I think they would have been close to "too dry" by tomorrow morning. Just a feeling...not any particular experience.

So I ended up giving them a small pinch of @GeoFlora Nutrients 'Veg' and gave them a drench with a 1/4 dose of silica and 1/4 dose of kelp extract. I added some yucca extract to help slow down the drench. It was initially draining right out. The sides got too dry. Tough balance of knowing how much to water, keep the soil moist enough, etc. Anyway...they are looking happy to me. If anyone notices anything of concern, please mention it. Thanks.

Looks a nice healthy start BA!
Thanks man! Really excited for these genetics. I have a few others on their way that I'll be trying later in the year outside. Trying to pace myself and not pop too many. I'm a bit stingy about popping too many regular seeds. I'm hoping my odds play out.

Nice color & growth on the sprouts. I love growing out regulars.

Also, in a quick message to the breeder, he recommended that as soon as the hull breaks open, to plant them into your medium of choice. This is different than what I have done in the past. Any opinions for or against this.
I like to put in soil as soon as there is a tiny nub sticking out. I also put in sideways with a slight up tilt to the nub. If longer, just slightly sideways. This always works well for me. I think the soil is less of a shock if early. The nub grows and turns within hours.

Hey Baked :ciao: Grimm genetics is rocking is over there! Sueweet!
Hey Otter! I'm stoked to see what I am able to do with these.

Thanks stinker! I'm looking forward to good odds.

Thanks again Stinker. After hearing this several times, it seems safe to say that I need to change my practices. Haaa haaa. So much easier and less hassle than dealing with wet paper towels and plastic bags...etc. Yeah...done with that now! Lol

Well they enjoyed their drink from last night and they looked happy.

Week 1 in the books and I'm happy with them so far. Bummed I lost a couple babies but I'm going to have to resist popping any more seeds until I have a complete plan for my outdoor garden. I would like a female from each of these, but if it doesn't happen, I may try popping seeds later in the season.

Just peeking in, much easier this early.

Only a suggestion mate, learnt through trialing materials to split a tent for seedlings/clones located a thin sheet of plastic from art supplies section at our local big box.

Its a cloudy white, very see through up close but diffuses the light beautifully, enough that you can actually see the gloomy shadow like light on the shielded side. Durable, gluable, screwable.

Comes in all manner of sizes A4, A3 etc,

Before that used a wrap found in packaging, white thin stuff that feels silky.

Both will repel water and dry quickly, the wrap tended to breath better, but the sheets were spot on for diffusing the light over the seedling canopy. Seedlings in an insta crate, sheet ceiling.

Cheers.

:ciao:Hey Baked. Just noticed this journal in your signature today and want to follow along. I assume that's okay with you? :battingeyelashes:

Interesting genetics. I was just reviewing my seed list this morning and noticed that I have a number of Jack Herer crosses as well:
  • Big Devil XL Fast Version
  • Black Jack F1 Fast Version
  • Carnival
  • Cinderella '99
Jack Herer is one of my favourite strains and am planning on having it on a routine basis in the future.

Great idea. Thanks for the suggestion. Makes sense.

Of course! Welcome HG!

I experienced JH for the first time, via a live resin cartridge. It was a wonderful morning puffing experience. I have not yet experienced JH flower or rosin.

Which C99 genetics are you running? I'm really excited about that one.

I have one Cinderella '99 seed and its genetics is Shiva Skunk x Jack Herer and I have 3 Cinderella '99 Fast Version seeds, which are C99 x Shiva Skunk.

Sweeeet!!! I really like JH. I'd like to get my hands on some old school JH genetics. The Rosetta Stone, growing 2 babies right now, is supposed to be a

I think I started writing that response about 2 hrs ago. :smokin2: ... Now nearly 2pm, and if memory serves me correctly HG, I started this response around 9am...

I am coming off my call week and free as a bird...or high as a bird...or baked as a cake?! Anyway...I don't remember if you said you're growing them this season or not. I'll look back but it would be awesome to see your C99 growing alongside mine. You're a better grower than me so don't be setting the bar too damn high, huh?!

I've been up to a bunch of infusion shenanigans this morning! Can't forget to mention my kitchen protector, the almighty, and all-seeing Teddie.
