When I came up with the method of quadlining I thought about leaving those first nodes on (the very bottom ones) to see if they would do anything (or make 6 mains instead of 4) and I just found they never produced well or just plain got in the way. This is why I have always taught people to just get rid of all but 4 mains early on and let it focus it's energy to just those instead of splitting it 6 ways. Maybe you'll have a different experience and that is the joy of growing! Will be interesting to see.
You may find that training them this way doesn't require a scrog net but if you want to put one on it then have at it! Snaps are no biggie and if you aren't sure a little duct tape works as a good band aid. Most of the time in hydro they heal up super quick though.
Net looks really solid. There was a time period on these forums where people were calling loose support nets Scrogs. I've seen some great scrog nets recently and yours fits the build. Your plants seem to be growing pretty rapidly now so should be exciting to see it fill out.Popped in the SCROG this morning after seeing the shoots going straight up.. This will solve that problem.. and add additional support. I like how things are looking so I'll just flip over to flower this weekend I bet.. That'll put me at week 7 and I can see when the stretch happens it's going to be a tight fit.
They look great to me! Not pitiful at all. I think I'd just leave them now until they are done stretching. Honestly, they look great. This net will be really full soon and you are doing a stand up job sir!like with everything I do.. I never really have a plan.. today follows that.. I opened up the tent and wasn't going to touch then started tucking and trimming.. only to go.. well crap.. I should take a photo.. only to go..grrr... I already did the entire plant..
So that's the Blue done and tucked.. so a before on the green is that.. I took off most of the leaves covering things.. aka almost all the non top fan leaves. and now after I did the green. At this point you
and an underside
they look pitiful.. but I'm ok with that.. I can see they're not.. they have good structure to expand on.. and as I've experienced.. it's not really about what you can see.. it's what you can't.. hence my defoiling =)
I'm by no means an expert on this.. so don't hold me to this..
Along with this I also did a drain and redo of the res.. it was down prob 10 g's and well why not.. so after a complete drain and wash of the res.. I started with
1230ppm / 4.9ph (I really need to watch this i didn't see it dropped this low till today)
after drain and readd of 12-14g I was at 290 / 6.7ph
to that I did
12mL z7
90mL micro
30mL gro
120mL bloom
60mL calimag
which left me with a 1520/5.9
after circulating it was a 1490 / 6.2 ph. to which I have it down to a 5.7 now
Seeing how things will 'stretch' over the next wwek or two I'll debate doing any more defoil.. I may just trim rather than a large defoil. but I'm nothing by the book =)
I'm just salivating over here. I know this is going to end up awesome! Will you be defoliating everything below the net?Nothing changed this update.. just some updated photos.. Res is sitting at 1560 5.7 and down about 5 or 6 G's I'll give it more time before changing.
The canopy is taking shape but no sign of any real flower shapes..
