B.I.D.'s Mysterious 8.0 Featuring? Come See If You Dare!

Hey BID :) I just wanted to wade in on the rip off lights subject.
I can assure all that what BID says is correct, Paul designed the light himself and its originally Budmasters own design. It may be getting ripped off, yet the quality of heat sinks, fans and the bin selection of the LED used are inferior. To fight the Chinese on copyright is an impossible mission and a fight small western businesses cannot win.
I believe in the Company and its products, this is more to do with my regular talks with Paul than my own experience with their lights, as Im yet to fire mine up for real (As you all know :))Yet I trust BIDS word and his results in his great 7.0 journal! :)
Also Im quite sure you would be hit by a daft shipping fee for these ripoffs.

Sorry my little rant is over best of green to all!

I agree with what you are saying, but with one addition of my opinion on matter.....

In western countries stealing IP is highly illegal and hard to get away with. In china it a totally different story, first off it is more culturally accepted, 2nd the ip laws are like never enforced. Everyone that does business with china knows, or should know this, it is part of the risk. It is part of the risk you take by outsourcing your manufacturing there.

Do I think it is wrong that IP is stolen? Of course. But people should not outsource their manufacturing to China and not expect this. Hopefully he learned his lesson and will be using a manufacturer in a country where he would have legal recourse for his next design. Also provides more jobs for the home country economy.

the problem is that the cost to have things built in the US would likely make the end product cost to much for most of us to afford, i mean if ppl think leds are expensive now lol and are there even any manufacturers left here that build stuff for other designers?
i wish things were not this way and i have no ideas how we could change it, i personally am a pretty savvy consumer and i know for the most part what im buying, i do research on absolutely everything before i buy it,even food i spend entirely to much time online reading about products checking reviews etc. i cant ever remember an impulse buy of anything over 5 bucks, if i have a question then its worth a few min online, when every dollar you get is important you cant afford to waste very many lol

speaking of spending $$ heres some items i researched and decided to get
feeling the need for eye protection but not believing its nessessary to spend 80+$ i researched what would be needed these jackson safety glasses fit the bill i really like the fit they stay in place wrap around and have a strap, 99.0% uv protection and meet ansi z87.1+ standards they are dark but not so much that you cant wear them around like sunglasses they are great outside and light does not leak in at the brow (my biggest prob with my huge head) and i got some goodies for the hydro that i could use in coco as well

Yeah they are green.....oh guys when I get finished building the boxes in the green house I am thinking about trying my hand at some auto.

Have you used florakleen before? I have had no problems but heard bad things can happen if used too soon.

I got some of the specific LED glasses, should get in next few days, I thought kind of spendy, but not so much that i cant try to see if worth the $79. I have bad eyes as it is so one of my biggest concerns also.

If worth it I will let everyone know...

You are 1 busy B,I,D,

he craw & eco
a few thoughts and a bit of what i know , these lights are manufactured in china,by ctl lighting i-gro and several other us based resellers have them for sale ,i-gro looks to be the cheapest , to my knowledge icemud, toker69 and myself will be the first growers to complete a cannabis grow cycle with them here in the us i have searched high and low for videos & pics there are some out there but not a finished grow and review, i can say they have vegged quite satisfactory , i will start the flower cycle soon, the plants i finished with the 684 did not have a good start were to cold and the first 4-5 weeks were flowered under my budmasterI675xg
so i dont count those at all in judging these i-gro lights, you should be able to find a good amount of info on the intelligent gro site
i believe they use bridgelux diodes and heres the map of whats in them
PAR_Spectrum_LED_Ratio_Graph_Per_Module-Public_Version2.png

i believe that includes the cob in the center
heres the estimated par
pyramid.png

i have no real opinion on these lights yet but what i can say is i like them so far they run hotter than i expected
the controller is not a gimmick imho as it gives you total control over each spectrum channel and each hour of the day i can see where they could be used in many ways ,from getting a stretchy plant to tighten up its nodes by running more blue than red, or increasing reds to help a plant stretch thats to short, and even helping sick plants recover by giving softer light in a specific range of spectrum
its also nice to not have to buy timers, and you only need one light to do the job that it normally requires at least 2 lights to accomplish, and being able to dim the lights adds $ savings for times when you dont need them at full power, the controller is 70$ and optional it does not automatically come with a light , the big sell or no sale for me is quite simply how well they flower, i personally dont need a light that is an all in one since i run perpetual and have dedicated lights and veg/flower areas, but its nice to know i have the option, also you can control up to 10 lamps with 1 intelligent controller,
i am seeing some benefits to custom spectrum i had the lights a bit high and they started to stretch so i lowered the lights and altered the first 2 hours of the day to be heavy blue well the nodes immediately(2-3 days) got tighter and stems got thicker,

a thing i wanted to touch on , i have seen a bit of chatter around the forum on sponsorship and that perhaps we testers may be biased since we got "free" lights i cant speak for anyone else buy for me its like this, since i did not pay out of pocket it is not as important that these lights or any other item i receive be successful (tho i do risk all the meds from that run and the potential of all the supplies used are wasted and months of my time) not exactly free, so if these lights are great or suck wet dog fur! i want to report to you subscribers as honest and fairly as i know how, im not going to candy coat things, if they fail i have less motivation to want them to be great like i would if i saved $ for months and peeled off more than i paid for my last 2 vehicles combined!!
it allows me to be unbiased and honest about my findings , im not going to kiss butt on a sponsor nor would they want me to be if they are worth their salt and believe in their products, the sponsor model grow journal is a solid test ground and a good deal for sponsors we all know word of mouth is the best advertising, i know i respect the words of my friends here more than some random websites claims,
just wanted to spit a few words on the subject so you all know how i feel and my philosophy on it :rocker:

I know I am a little late on this thread/topic because I was out of town for a week, but I wanted to share my 2 cents.

I am using 2x of the 228w Intelligent gro models (journal in my signature) and so far I am impressed with the veg capibilities of these lights and I am hoping that flowering also shows good results, but haven't gotten there yet (a few more weeks). I too noticed the lights run slightly hotter than my other LED panels but not by much and after upgrading my fans/scrubber and circulation fans and adjusting them, the temps in my tent with these 2 lights stay right in the perfect zone of 78F-81F depending on the exterior air temperature. So far for veg I have run 2 different manufacturers LED panels as well as CMH, MH and HPS and now the intelligent gro LED's and I have to say for veg, the Intelligent Gro lights are vegging my plants beautifully and I have never seen as large of leaves with any of the other lighting options over Intelligent gro. I can't wait until I see them flower to see their full capabilities.

As far as the lighting controller, it is a very nice feature and I do see benefits in these ways. By using the dimming features, it allows me to save on power when the plants are in veg, by running a 18/6 lighting schedule, but not 100% all day. The lights are only at 100% intensity for about 6 hours of that cycle which means the additional power savings over a panel that can not dim are significant. I also agree with what BID said about manipulating the blues or reds to induce stretching or by using more blue to tighten up the internodes, I think the custom options definitely have a place in the future of grow rooms. As far as plant affect with dimming in mind (replicating the sun) I am not sure how this will effect the plants, but I do know that I have read that blue light in mornings will typcially open the stomata further than red light, so as we learn more about cannabis growth and light effects, I think more "value" will come into play with the flexibility of the Intelligent Gro panels.

I also wanted to touch on the sponsored/free topic. I too received my lights free as a sponsorship to do a test grow. I am one who also is very honest and fair and basically taking the "risk" of either having great plants or ruining a crop to test these lights, as well as spending hundreds of dollars in electricity over the course of the grow, money on nutrients, soils...etc... so technically even though the panels are free, the test grow is not. I am a firm believer in honest reviews and anyone who knows me here knows that I post everything that I find, because I too respect all growers here and my integrity means a lot. So anyone who would like to check out my journals, feel free to, and I can promise all of you that my grow and information is accurate, true and honest, and the "free" lights have no influence on what I report to you guys.

I also want to add that I have gotten to know BID very well over the past few years here and he is one of the coolest dudes on here and is very honest and helpful, so from both of us, you can definitely expect the real deal, honest reviews you are seeking :)

Plants are looking excellent BID!!! I know you have been using General Organics lately, have you seen their new product, which is a potassium silicate? I picked some up and realized that its pretty much PH up by General Hydro, but doesn't have the bicarbonate in it. I figured it would be a good little additive to use for foliar sprays and for early bloom so I am giving it a try.

I have to say your plants are looking phenominal! I hear ya on the blue dream "fakes" out there, I ended up running one for about 3 cycles and found out that it just wasn't giving me the typical blue dream smell or taste so I culled it. your lucky to have a good cut!! defintiely keep her :)

Well just wanted to drop by and check up on how things in BIDmasters world!! and looking excellent as always :)

thank you ice i figured you would chime in when you got back home and i can vouch for your integrity i know you like me are honest in your findings and are not influenced to be in any way something other than 100% genuine , theres plenty of risk involved for us theres no way to recoup what we put in to these testing journals if they go south ,and the worst case scenario looms in the back of our minds (ruined crop, wasted nutes, electric ,seeds, time, and possibly a bunch of junk hardware to dispose of if they fail) but like you said thing look good right now so fingers crossed and positive vibe moving fwd!:rocker:
