have you tried "side-lighting" you can increase yields by 10-15% at least - just depends on spectrum - use 12by12 led panels for veg (blue) and for flower red- 12by12 Led panels - thinking of changing to led bars for sidelighting but is expensiveYeah what Absorber says
I used to live looking out over a beach, a small bay about 2-3km across. Just off centre in the middle of the bay is Poo Island aka Crab Island. So Poo Island off Pookhet Not sure of its the same hieroglyph thing or not. Think its chicken something. Tin mining was the thing here, you go to a Thai restaurant and it has chopsticks then they are for Chinese people. Thailand started using cutlery hundreds of years ago. Knife and spoon generally because of tin and European traders visiting.
Loved that place. My last home as single man. Not great for growing though. Tried chillies on the balcony but April- September the wind comes straight in off the sea brings lots of rain and salt.
Life has given me an uneven canopy - feel like its not even my fault this time. The 5000k where it is seems to broadly follow the taller girls.
So I added more lights which is something I can change. I decided swapping lights around too much hassle. Dimmer now ships tomorrow and a fancy controller, can vary the spectrum remotely with oresets and stuff. Designed to run 200 lights I think.
Looks cool. Pretty useless for my purposes though had I had it then it may have made this dimmer controller failure a moot point. It would basically skip it i think.
But the real story here is I defoliated and I defoliated deep and hard. Because whilst I can’t put more light up top (actually I can tomorrow when I add in the 200w flood light) I may as well maximise the side light that I do have. So I’ve stripped them bare. Its nit without risks at the end of week three. Its a bit late for me. But i’m going to have to trust in the tops to look after themselves and go to work lower down. I guess its another 8-9 days for the controller.
Whilst I can’t put more light up top, oh wait I just said I am tomorrow, I also put more light up top today. Went with the Chinese made UVC lights. 11w each. I noticed they are 232nm which is absolutely great for killing stuff. The other didn’t look like such a great spectrum.
These are designed for purifying aquarium water in a sealed box.
Look pretty cool. I gave them 20 seconds on just after lights out. I need to try and figure out the joules but in a study on tomatoes they gave them 16 seconds a night. Need to figure out what 20 seconds of mine works out.

Apart from sorting out the main light and watching I don’t see what else I can do. I really missed the light these last two formative weeks, hope I can catch some up.

I’ve see a commercial grow here running UV under the leaves at pot level. It looked like commercially available strip comes in a roll so not sure how much good it does. The UV lights I added today are just cable tied on. They need line of sight so I plan on moving them around - especially to floor level as the fans grow back, its where Whitefly like to hang.
The strips were about $30 each, maybe have a look at vertical growing lights? That’s what they’re designed for rows and rows of stacked plant/herb grows.
I’m in Thailand so they come in basically tax free for $2-4 shipping cost from China. Amazon probably a bit more than $30! These were in country so probably $20 I ordered them direct from China, but that’s 10 days not 2 days.

Hey @Carmen Ray, thanks for the link, and actually no, I have t done the South African cabs yet. This will be fun. There’s as much variety and differences between cabs (any wine type really but cabs are what matter to me mostly) as there is between strains of weed and you can have a blast with it if you’re a red wine guy.Love a craft beer and a mellow smoke too

Damn Nick. You lived on that outcropping there? That’s insane. Can’t even imagine how amazing that must have been. If for no other reason just visually. Meanwhile, your update is highly detailed and I see where you are now. Good defol. You’ll be fine, week three is standard wisdom although like you it’s late for me too. I start that way early (even in veg) and pluck a thing here and there as we go just to make it easier when it’s time to get serious. But by flower these days I’m usually pretty ready to go. That said, with 9 plants in the 5x5 (and some monsters at that) it’s actually serious and physical work for me to effectively defol what needs done above and below. Thank god my undercarriages are all finished. Now I just tweak and watch. Oh yeah, and feed the crap out of them cuz I love to waste money.Yeah what Absorber says

Lots of drunk people crammed into a small geographical area with lots of booze means every night’s a fight night. Represented by young men from Russia, Ukraine, UK, Australia and every other European country with 100’s of single if you want them to be young Thai girls I’m only surprised there aren’t more fights I think fear of weapons holds people off. my own adventures recently I covered somewhere else. & Co to the rescue!

Yeah mine have ended up so short in places I really need buds to the floor to stand a chance. This are shorter than most of the actually dixie cup plants I’ve grown. 6 weeks ago there were 160cm monsters in here. Not dissimilar strains.

Now of course there are so many boutique wineries amongst the larger estates. I live in wine country, on the coast... gotta love that although I barely drink wine anymore. Happy Sunday guys, my tornado of a younger brother is finally gone after five weeks. A trip that was supposed to be 5 days became 5 long weeks of him basically disrupting everything, creating unnecessary family drama, drinking to the point of at least buzzed every single day, and smoking all my weed. I couldn’t wait for him to leave. Hate to say it about my blood, but the kid needs some therapy or something. Anyway, sorry, thanks for letting me vent, and here’s some weed stuff I call,
A Tale of Two Nodes
So, using the Skywalker in my bedroom closet as our model, let’s take a look at the first node.
The node on the right is the LESS dominant of the two and almost got chopped several times. It’s the lowest and smallest cola on the plant. Here it is by itself and in context.
The other first node branch is a bird of an entirely different color and represents part of why I often keep first node branches. It’s the biggest and tallest cola on the entire plant. Here’s the other first node branch by itself and in context.
Huge difference! In my experience the difference is not usually so pronounced, although one is always the more dominant. Anyway, nothing new but thought that might be fun. It’s ain’t that easy to keep finding ways to keep you guys entertained.

Yeah, honestly a looooong time. From the first time I saw it actually. Just couldn't hold it in anymore, like a dam breaking, just cant hold it back sometimes.

Yeah I will, raised an OG Blueberry last grow. Its a bit of a bigger delta this time though. Hard to get close to them this evening with all electrical being done.

Well, that’s basically what I have, just x9 and in larger pots. Haven’t you done a normal grow ever? Or have you always done the Solo thing? Oh yeah, you had that white AirPot grow. Those are cool, forgot about that. So you already know. As you can obviously see from my choice of methodology in this grow, I believe larger plants trained properly will yield better than a Solo cup grow every single time. Solo grows are cool but you will nevergrow anywhere near a pound plant in one, much less even a five ouncer. When you factor in the workload and the amount of moving parts necessary to do it as you do, for my money I think it might behoove you to try a real comparative grow. Same size tent, same strain, same medium and grow method, just fewer plants fives or sevens (or tens!) vs more plants in Solos. Not only would it settle the issue it would make a cool journal, lol.
Starting to perk up a bit. Twice a day feeding and warmth, gas and an EC of 2.6 will do that.
The box is currently in Shenzhen, China. It has a two day drive through Southern China, Laos and then into northern Thailand. Then another two day drive to here. Generally two days at customs so 6 days. All being well its being fitted in exactly 7 days. Also in the box I assume because its the right size is the multi light digital controller. Mates rates is $75 and full whack I think $120-150. I haven’t paid which is nice.
Ooph but were it not for Chinese New Year would have been here weeks back.
Still I can only play the cards that have been dealt to me. Reveg anyone?

Somewhat surprisingly, this plant has WAY outgrown the same strain and apparently phenotype in the coco/water setup, also Cyco, although that one is huge too. Look at her stacking and the size of her balls - these buds will be huge.
