AussieBlue's Perpetual Grow Journal: Next Generation

Controlling humidity in the space is critical, i need to pay more attention to temp and humidity.

When the humidity is up the heat becomes more of a an issue. Been hot here lately and contant hunidity. Like i said i am going to make some changes in the cupboard next weekend and will see how we go then. Need to get it as close to ambient room temperature as possible. Hard with 2 400w HPS lights.
Just moved over to a xbox one x from the ps3 so lots of stoned gaming time coming up. Man sucks having to download all the games tho. Takes forever.
And resisted buying seeds with all the sales on atm. Phew.

If you have any ingenious ways to control heat while keeping very stealthy im all ears.

How stealthy are we talking? My last one was in a tower block with people either side, above and beneath.

I had/have a big extractor fan with a carbon filter attached to take out the heat and smell. Its about as loud as a hairdryer but is in the tent which muffles it a bit. If I'm in the room I can obviously hear it but if I come out, shut the door and put the TV on I can't.

I done 3 grows in the tower block, one after the other without any aggravation from any nuisances.

People are usually going about there lives, not listening out for grows. It always pays to be careful but also not to be too worried, you're thinking about the grow because it's there, other people aren't unless you blab.

Is it the temperature of your baking hot country affecting your tent or the light? What have you done to try and stop it so far?

And who are you trying to be stealthy with?

If it's your neighbours just get a six inch fan and use/make an intake hole at the bottom of the tent (will push cold air up) and an extraction to blow it out (can be a smaller fan inside the tent near the top, but will need a vent for this)

If it's your girlfriend or someone you live with we'll have to come up with a plan B. Might be beyond my stealth abilities ;)

Atm im sucking air out through the floor from low down. Im going to run some duct up and put the filter up high in the cupboard. So it sucks the warm rising air out. Will shift the ballasts under the house so that looses some heat. They kick out a lot. Could fry an egg on them. Ill have some air intakes down low from under the house as thats the coolest air ill be able to inject. Atm i only have a 4" exhaust fan at present. Should have gone bigger tho it should be able to shift enough air out per hour. Think its just shifting the cooler air from down low: i have a shelf in the top of the cupboard. Im thinking of mounting another two 4" fans above the light s through the shelf and into a tee to the fan at floor level. That would get the air flowing. .

Just ordered this fan for up on the shelf. Shifts about 1.5 times the air of the other one. Will mount on some rubber mounts to keep noise at a minimum. Should work out well with the lower helping suck that air out through the floor. I will mount the filter facing forward for easy maintenance. I should take some before and after readings to see how much i improve things.

Do you have a speed controller to dial it down it will make you so happy I downloaded a noise measure app and putting a open box and speed controller knock it down a lot

I nearly orderd a speed controller. Will check it out first and see. Plus i want as much air moving as possible so may just have to deal with the noise. Maybe ill have it only run during 12/12 (day). Then it wont be noticeable when its quiet at night.

Some quick reading and it seems about the same result or a bit better with two fans in series. The single pressure generated by each fan drops in series. But the same volume of air is shifed as two in parrallel. Might put less strain on the fans? Heres some graphs from one study. Im sure there are other factors but intersting.
