Soil would basically be better for you. It's more forgiving and in my opinion a lot easier

Going back a few days we were talking about pH perfect if you remember? I think I've settled on it for my next grow. Wondering if I can get your thoughts on this:

A sales guy at one of the grow stores here said; in his opinion it's a great system but it won't automatically balance perfectly. ie, you mix your solution or DWC reservoir and adjust to 6.2 and then it will hold at 6.2.

When I think about it, it makes sense...to me at least. pH will naturally vary from region to region and it would be difficult to account for all variables you'd think.

What cha think?

p.s. I realize that post of yours I quoted had absolutely nothing to do with the question I've asked, but I figured you'd get a notification :thumb:

I've spent the last 45 days tracking pH and ppm with AN and Remo side by side. I've been a AN user for two years and haven't adjusted or checked pH in 18 months before this.

In MY opinion, and you can take it for what it's worth and I'll throw in $0.02. ;) Mix it and leave it, either brand. However if you have a choice go with Remo. It does not leave anywhere near the amount of salts that AN does.

EDIT: That data is logged in my journal if you're interested in seeing it.

AN always seems to end up around 6.2 regardless of where i set it at first.

Here is an email AN sent me about phing AN:

The pH Perfect base nutrient has some specific ingredients( chelates, surfactants, amino acids as well as buffers) that increase the pH spectrum to continue the plants ability to absorb nutrients between 4.0 and 8.0 pH without the concern of having to re-adjust the pH so many times, like you would have to with a simple salt formula. You should use a water supply Tap water )providing the ppm value is no more than 150 ppm otherwise you may want to consider using RO water ( which normally has a 0 ppm level.) As far as adjusting pH it is not necessary, the additives will do the work for you. If you have any other questions or concerns please call our Growers Support line at 800-640-9605 as we will be happy to help in any way possible.

I think it's more about your PH before you add it. Although many people are having troubles keeping PH for long periods of time.

I personally want pH fluctuation. The charts show 5.8 to be ideal for hydro, but if held strictly to 5.8, all of the elements are still not available. I like that I can pull it down to 5.3ish and let it climb up to almost 7. This I feel gives my plant(s) more opportunity to uptake what it needs.

As far as PH perfect solutions, they likely use a lot of buffering agents in their formulas so when mixed with the likes of RO water, there is not much resistance in the water for the buffers to overpower and dictate what the PH will be once that struggle is settled.

Okay. I got a question.
First off, Snid great thread.
It's been a while since I been round. I walk through your place every now n again n just like usual they're near perfect. Great job as always bro.

Okay the question is, can I gas my seedlings right from pop ?

Anyone with facts, opinions or experience let me know.
Later :passitleft:

Ok so here's a little update on my CKS Green Crack I had posted before that this plant is putter my out 3 fan leaves per node and it is still doing so and now it is 3 nodes in with 3 fan leaves at each node. The most awesome part is that at each node I seem to be getting 3 branches also. I took a pic to show I've never seen this before but looks like I got me a keeper if she will pass this trait on. I'm going to pollenate her with either herself or maybe this DARK DEVIL AUTO I have going and I can make my own Strain and Call it "The Devils Crack" lol I make myself laugh anyways here's a pic. You're a little late on the name. I bred DDA and Mephisto Sour Crack to make the Sweet & Sour Devil's Crack(SSDC) last year. I have two of them growing now. Four feet green and smell just like the DDA. One of my SSDC that I have going now put out three per node until the third node. After that it was back to normal . Plant DC2 in my journal. She is the largest in the tent now.

Hey everyone nice to meet y'all !!
I have a question about perpetual grows. I want to start doing them but I am having problems figuring out the timing.
I currently have 3 plants in dwc that I am about to flip. They are around 34 days old from pop. I would like to be able to harvest a second crop anywhere from 30 -45 days after I harvest this crop. When should I take clones from these 3 plants in order to be able to harvest them 30-45 days after I chop these 3 down.
I was thinking I would take the cutting after I flip the lights and the stretch is over . Take the cuttings . Hey should root about 14 days later. What do y'all think . Any help would be most appreciated!!??!?!

No matter what the company says it's not going to hold at a perfect 6.2, its bound to fluctuate slightly. So that works for me.

At the end of the day, I'm growing indoors, in buckets, using chemicals, manipulating the plants to maximize yield...if there's extra agents in there to assist me I'm ok with that. Helping nature along, not letting it necessarily dictate.

Going for a perpetual set up soon so if I don't have to check pH every day, X number of times a day...well slap me silly an call me sally, I'm a happy camper.

That's awesome is that a trait of the Green Crack? This is my first Green Crack grow. If that is a trait of the the plant then there is no reason for me to breed it then: I thought I was special ! Oh I'm special ! My Mommy said so ! Anywho I'm going to check your grows love the name so funny ! I'm was thinking of breeding my Gods Gift x Dark Devil to get " Devils Gods Gift " Sick name but would just be for clowning around !!!! Live-Love-Learn

I've gotten some good info from you guys so far so i have yet another question, I've been doing some reading on superthrive and it has very mixed reviews, so what do you ladies and gentleman think? Overrated or a must have product?

I don't know but I just bought some. A lot of people say it's just snakeoil, others swear by it. I wanted it to try to bring a sick and ailing plant back to life, and it sure as shit hasn't done that.

How long has it been since you used it? And you haven't noticed any kind of healing huh? I don't specifically need it to cure an ailment in my babies but the "bigger stronger roots, bigger stronger plants" claim caught my attention

Just a genetic anomaly. Happens to all strains, all plants even. Kind of like having a ginger kid, stuff happens. :biglaugh:
