Ask Us Anything: Sharing Knowledge 420 Style

Well here I am again asking for guidance. My plant is a Skunk #1 6 weeks since flower show. I am growing under 1,000 HPS. have been battling Powdery Mildew. Keeping RH DOWN BETWEEN 35&40%.
Watering with RO using cal mag and fox farm trio plus super thrive. Temps have been between 78and 80 during light on.
What I saw first was, twisting leaves, then the brown spots.
What do you think this is?

First need to know lights and grow medium? I am going to SWAG this and say you have a calcium blockage and is causing a boron deficiency. you need to flush and apply properly PH water with MINIMUM Nutrients for growth stage.

1000 watt HPS. Ocean forest soil five gallons 6.3 PH.

Looks like classic symptoms of overwatering or underwatering, what's your watering schedule and climate?. Were the roots bound prior to transplant?

Were you showing cal def prior to using? if not, no reason with HPS lights to increase, LED yes. PH probably went out of desired range. Causing a Calcium Blockage. Thus also not allowing Boron intake. The signs on new leaf growth definitely look like Boron def. I would flush and start at min base nutrient required.
Good luck.

Hi Snid. Thank you for doing this! I need an advice please;
In my next grow, I'm going to use the pro mix HP CC with mycorrhizae grow medium. Is the any fertilizers I should mix it with? Anything to pay attention to in the grow?

P.S - I plan to use Smart Pots.

Thank you.

Pro mix is spahgnum moss so yes youll need to use nutes. I use Advanced Nutrients but plenty of good ones out there.

I use cal mag because I use RO Water. I will flush tonight and read runoff.
I checked runoff on another plant and the runoff was 6.0. I water with 6.3 or 6.4.
I water when they ask for it, which is about every third day, edging towards every other day now.

Having similar issue with a few of my plants leaves. Not quite as bad, no burned looking spots, but perhaps they're just not at that point yet. Were they just bleachy looking spots at first? I read where if water droplets were on leaves that they act like magnifying glass, and the magnified light could do this. Anyone lend credit to this? Thanks

Ok cool I got a question now I have 2 Vision seeds Super Skunk Autos they sprouted 8 days apart and first of all I fed them 1/2 strength nutes at about 2 weeks old and like 6 days old and then lol they got light burnt by my LED light!! Yeah double wammy. So now we are on Day 28 and Day 20 and they look like this . They just started growing again but very slowly!!!! Help what can I do? Oh yeah I already transplanted both plants into new soil and I flushed them in the old soil before transplant. Any info suggestions would be much appreciated . Live- Love -Learn

Hope this helps. You have 2 different types of symptoms. Upper new leaves dark yellow brown spots with dry dead border (boron deficiency). Lower older leaves yellowing spots edges pliable, not dead (calcium deficiency). Don't have feel-a-screen, Right?
How and why did this happen?
Boron deficiency caused by what? (Calcium blockage). FF Trio has the required macro and micro nutrients to include trace elements.
RO Water is a clean slate.
Why introduce additional elements if there is no sign of a deficiency?
For some reason this plants looks like it has stopped taking in calcium. Causing boron deficiency.
What caused it?
Genetics (plant telling you "f/u I've had enough overdose of calmag)/PH (did not reach level of range reqired for proper calcium intake)/Root temperature (67deg-72deg Fahrenheit?
Your plant needs a good flush and basic feeding of your FF Trio at 1/3 to 1/2 strength (keep the ppm around 450-500 for starters).
Hopefully this points you in the right direction for research.Maybe someone else might have experienced or seen this, and verify that this is what might be happening.

Thank you. To my untrained eyes it looked like Botrytis. I will flush as advised and stop the calmag and go light with nutes

Can't see the roots. Cloth pot. She dries out fast in her five gal. pot. Usually droopy a bit before watering.
