ATF Review
Well the time has finally come to get a review up of this wonderful strain. I want to thank
@Van Stank again for letting me grow his genetics.
Lets start off with the grow difficulty. I really think that for a novice grower this strain would be pretty hard to grow. These things just love to keep growing like a true sativa. This is not a bad thing but can be a challenge if you are growing in limited spaces like a grow tent. They were really heavy feeders and have a really long flowering time which can test your patience level. However, if you are experienced than you will likely be getting large plants with long colas and know how to handle all that. To this date it has been one of the more difficult strains I have grown. The reward for being able to keep them happy was an outstanding yield and resin everywhere. Trimming was a nightmare due to how many times my fingers and scissors got stuck. In the end these were fantastic genetics and grew like a true sativa. All but one of the plants were roughly the same size and they grew about the same way.
The smell and taste of the ATF is wonderful. Being from Oregon, I love the piney smell of our wilderness. The freshness and the cleanness of the air with that hint of pine is refreshing. The ATF has a very similar smell to it. It has undertones of a bit of a earthy and forest like smell but the main note is the pine. When you smoke the ATF it leaves you with a flavor on the mouth like you have just got done eating an after dinner mint or something. It seems to be the main attribute across the board but everything about the ATF has a cleanness to it. Probably goes down as my second favorite smelling weed all time, only to the Blue Dream I grew a while back.
The yield was one of the best yields that I have ever had. As Van said through out the grow, the buds will be like spears and it's great when it is ground up. The colas are very long and don't get extremely dense, following the traits of a good sativa. I grind up all my bowls so it was no big deal to me but bag appeal (if that sort of thing matters to you) is probably the only downside to this strain. It is kind of scraggly and the nugs are really small, but there is a ton of them. Reminded me exactly of my Cherry Bomb Auto I grew at the end of last year. I went through my dried buds and jarred up most of the bigger nugs and the remaining stuff I will be using to make edibles. Excited to make daytime sativa gummies for hiking or being out and about.
Lastly, the high on this ATF is incredible. It is a true sativa and I haven't had a good, strong sativa in a while. For as much as it was a bit of a pain to grow, the reward was well worth it. It doesn't make my head foggy at all when I smoke it. I become energetic and focused. I've noticed that I talk more when I've had it and it's a great strain to smoke before I do things like cook or garden. I've also noticed that is helps takes the edge off if I am feeling stressed but the main thing it has helped with is pain. I do a lot of lifting now for my new work and all my aches and pains seem to disappear when I get home and take a bong rip. This is the perfect daytime/going out and doing something strain.
All in all this was a very well done strain. It smelt great, was highly resinous (great quality) and the yield was awesome. After getting a few grows under your belt, if you are looking to grow a strong sativa than Stank Genetics ATF is it.
