Ase's Multi-Strain Quadlining In Coco

I'm getting so tired of it. Can't wait to get back to quadlining in full force again. This vertical floppy junk is not for me.
Hahaha every time I’m in here I’m in love with the chaos that’s not normally here;) Like who’s journal Am I in?? I’ll miss it! :D

Looking great! I just got 2 free Aurora Indica seeds and cannot wait!!

Yeah it's really funny, I thought the same thing the other day. Like it doesn't even feel like it's anything close to what I normally do. Win JOTM and then just complete chaos. The girl landed a great job now and now will be working a little later than I do so I'll have plenty of time to get back to being on here. I know I keep saying that but you should start seeing me around more by the end of next week.

I can't wait to grow another AI. Due to having to let them sit in those small pots, I want another shot at it. It was my first strain and I have only ever done it in soil! I really want to give it the full Ase effect and with coco and quadlining and see what happens now. This one looks fine but they just sat for way too long in veg and I'll be happy when both of these tents are done and have new plants in them. Really excited for the one plant in a tent Gorilla Glue.

I might have some Aurora Indica (and some Nirvana White Rhino) coming too... I have a Seedsman cart just waiting to check out, but I can’t bring myself to check out given that I already have such a backlog of seeds I want to grow out.

Question since I know many coco DTW growers come through here. I’ll post this elsewhere too. I’m going away for 10 days after my flowering plants finish. I’ve been saying all along I’d start new seeds when I got back, but I dread waiting 4 months to harvest again. I’d love to start seeds now and come back to plants ready to flip.

How would you recommend keeping 3-4 veg plants alive for 10 days, aside from enlisting someone to come water for you? I think that’s what you’ve done in the past Ase? If I want to automate, am I looking at having a big reservoir with airstones and pumps? Is a wicking system or something else possible?

I fear even with airstones I’ll end up with a sludgy, high pH mess in the reservoir after 10 days. I also fear the mistakes I could make attaching pumps to so much water - coming home to a water damaged basement would suuuuck. Any thoughts?

Garden is looking chaotic but beautiful brother. Enjoy the chaos and then your organization can take back over in a few weeks. Great spears on those ATF!

One chaotic ATF
One chaotic Panama due to being in a small pot still!
One ATF looking so good
One chaotic Durban Poison that is growing out of control, such a long veg
One Aurora Indica that was held back and just not ideal
One Honeysuckle that was held back and just not ideal

So really I have one plant I am happy with, 3 plants that are just totally crazy and 2 plants that look fine but just not ideal. ready to go back to just having everything in great shape.

Also Ase - you think you’ll have something ready to harvest by Dec. 8/9? I know my GG will be done then at a minimum and I have to get it down and dried before I go, so I’m pretty locked in to that weekend. Would be fun to chop on the same weekend, especially since I missed the group 4/20 chop.

Be patient and just do it when you get back is my advice. What's 10 days in the grand scheme of things?

I make up buckets of nutrients based on how long I'll be gone for and I have a friend do it. I label my tents A,B,C etc and then my buckets so they correlate. Then on the tents I put how much of a pitcher to feed each one and it works perfectly. @Derbybud has some good stuff up on auto watering systems and that's who I'd send you to if you wanted to go that route if you don't have someone to do it. You'll have to make sure it's tested and you know exactly how long to run it. If this trip is quick that doesn't give you much time to test everything and make sure it's working to your liking. Sounds like auto-watering is your only hope if you wanted to do that.

My Durban Poison/Aurora Indica/Honeysuckle tent should be fairly close to harvesting around then.

Hi Ase, I noticed that you make big batches of your nutrients and I wanted to ask: I’m using General Organics nutients and on the bottles it says to use them within an hour of mixing. Is it just a marketing ploy, or because they’re organic nutes? It would be so nice to have some ready to go.

I'd guess it's mostly because they are organics. It's always ideal to have fresh batches of nutrients each time but my plants haven't seemed to mind the way I do it.

Lol, I guess the only way to know is to try it out, right? Thanks Ase. That ATF is amaaaazing! I know you’re ready for your quad again, but those are some #nuggoals level spears. Well done!

I use the same nutes and mix about 5gal at a time. I feed 2.5gal every 2 days roughly. No problems with letting nutes sit for a couple days (with organic, they do need a good stir and possibly a ph adjustment after 48hrs).

ATF Review

Well the time has finally come to get a review up of this wonderful strain. I want to thank @Van Stank again for letting me grow his genetics.

Lets start off with the grow difficulty. I really think that for a novice grower this strain would be pretty hard to grow. These things just love to keep growing like a true sativa. This is not a bad thing but can be a challenge if you are growing in limited spaces like a grow tent. They were really heavy feeders and have a really long flowering time which can test your patience level. However, if you are experienced than you will likely be getting large plants with long colas and know how to handle all that. To this date it has been one of the more difficult strains I have grown. The reward for being able to keep them happy was an outstanding yield and resin everywhere. Trimming was a nightmare due to how many times my fingers and scissors got stuck. In the end these were fantastic genetics and grew like a true sativa. All but one of the plants were roughly the same size and they grew about the same way.

The smell and taste of the ATF is wonderful. Being from Oregon, I love the piney smell of our wilderness. The freshness and the cleanness of the air with that hint of pine is refreshing. The ATF has a very similar smell to it. It has undertones of a bit of a earthy and forest like smell but the main note is the pine. When you smoke the ATF it leaves you with a flavor on the mouth like you have just got done eating an after dinner mint or something. It seems to be the main attribute across the board but everything about the ATF has a cleanness to it. Probably goes down as my second favorite smelling weed all time, only to the Blue Dream I grew a while back.

The yield was one of the best yields that I have ever had. As Van said through out the grow, the buds will be like spears and it's great when it is ground up. The colas are very long and don't get extremely dense, following the traits of a good sativa. I grind up all my bowls so it was no big deal to me but bag appeal (if that sort of thing matters to you) is probably the only downside to this strain. It is kind of scraggly and the nugs are really small, but there is a ton of them. Reminded me exactly of my Cherry Bomb Auto I grew at the end of last year. I went through my dried buds and jarred up most of the bigger nugs and the remaining stuff I will be using to make edibles. Excited to make daytime sativa gummies for hiking or being out and about.

Lastly, the high on this ATF is incredible. It is a true sativa and I haven't had a good, strong sativa in a while. For as much as it was a bit of a pain to grow, the reward was well worth it. It doesn't make my head foggy at all when I smoke it. I become energetic and focused. I've noticed that I talk more when I've had it and it's a great strain to smoke before I do things like cook or garden. I've also noticed that is helps takes the edge off if I am feeling stressed but the main thing it has helped with is pain. I do a lot of lifting now for my new work and all my aches and pains seem to disappear when I get home and take a bong rip. This is the perfect daytime/going out and doing something strain.

All in all this was a very well done strain. It smelt great, was highly resinous (great quality) and the yield was awesome. After getting a few grows under your belt, if you are looking to grow a strong sativa than Stank Genetics ATF is it.

Great review Ase! Got some of those for the summer 19 grow!

Quick question. The G13 Haze I’m growing....got the branches tied down. But the pipe cleaners apparently have dug into the branches as it has grown. I went to pull the ends down to continue the training out towards the edge of the pot. Split both of the branches where the ties were. I taped them up and today they are growing upwards again. My plan is to carefully switch the pipe cleaners out for the rubber coated garden wire. But I’m wondering if any training will be possible for those branches after being split. It was bad. Just not sure what to do going forward training wise.

Where they were damaged they will likely swell up as they repair and create a knot. Just be very careful not to jostle them really hard and switch them out and see if you can just maintain what you currently have going for training.

Dang....I was hoping to really stretch her out towards the edge of the bigger pot once I up potted.

Not out of the realm of possibilities that you still can, just have to be super careful or you might lose an arm! That kind of stuff really heals pretty quick so just be patient and you'll be alright. Also keep the pressure nice and even and you should be able to feel if the arm feels like it's going to snap or not. Slow and steady!

ATF Gummies

First off, I just want to thank one of my OG Quadsquadders (Newty, Dobewon and Derbybud if you are wondering) @newty for giving me the VIP treatment and getting back to me quickly on how to make some good gummy edibles. In the past I have done hard candies and chocolates but never really tried gummies that much. I figured I could spend all day researching and doing some trial and error until I got it perfect but I really needed to get done with this quick-like. I didn't really have all day. Newty got back to me super quick with some advice and a great recipe for gummies. Most of you follow her journal that also follow mine (so you all probably already know this) but Newty is fantastic at edibles. You can just tell by her pictures that the gummies and baked goods are on point so I went straight to the source and she didn't dissapoint!

Anyways, with my Magic Butter Machine (Check them out, a great sponsor to 420 Magazine) I made 4 cups of ATF infused coconut oil. I infused that 4 cups with 2oz of ATF nugglets (not trim but rather all the tiny nugs). I'm not sure what ratios most people use for edibles but I try to stick to around a 1/2oz per cup of oil. It's enough where a heavy user can take 2 or 3 and have a good time or a lightweight can have just 1 and have a good time. I really don't know what most people use but that's what I go with. Then I followed Newty's recipe and made the gummy part. I have lame molds (semicircles and jelly beans) so they are basic but there are gummy bears in the mail right now and they should be here Monday. For the first batch they were a huge success. It's enough for this weekend and then I'll make more next week. I'm not going to list the recipe here but I know I've seen it in Newty's journal sorta recently. The only things I would add to anyone who tries it is these 2 things. First off, try to match the juice that you use to the same flavor of the Jello gelatin. Secondly, try to make it the best juice you can. If you were going to use cranberry juice for instance, I'd use the 100% stuff that is a little more expensive rather than something like Ocean Spray or Langers. Anyone who has had 100% Cranberry juice knows how much more powerful of a flavor it has. Those two tips will really help mask the weed taste more. I made mine with Kool aid Jammers and they didn't match the flavor of jello I was using. They still didn't taste much like weed but I know I could have had them almost taste nothing like it and that would have been amazing. I will be trying a new batch next week and using my tips to confirm this theory.

Now I've got lots of daytime fun gummies to enjoy. Being all the same strain and using nugs and not trim, I think these are going to be a blast! Not to mention the amount of ATF oil I have for warm drinks for this winter. Can't wait for the cold weather now. Canna Hot Chocolate will be flowing here.
