Arteekay's Second Grow - Autos & Feminized - Mixed Strains

wow. just wow. Spent the day attending to some chores and the toatlity of this entire journal all because Sweet Sue mentioned you in the DD community journal and am glad I did. It's day one for my DD seedling and it's getting the RTK treatment in what ever amount of fidelity this stoner is gonna muster. Going to use your PVC scrog idea for the GDP that just cracked too. Much respect and thanks for the kindly detailed journal it's exemplary - I've bookmarked a few of the Day in The Life posts too as guidelines. Cheers.

That just warmed the cockles of my heart High yogi. :hugs:

Looking very good in here.... I still need to go back and start from the beginning, this I will do! Ole Rooster1 in and out...:peace:

I won't stop ya, but man that's a lot of reading! I was posting every day, and posting every bit of information we collect every day. Since then I still record lots of data, but don't bother updating a spreadsheet or copying it all here.

Yes, we still use the scale every day, but mostly just for the seedlings and vegging plants. Once they're a week or two into flowering we just make sure they never go dry again, don't really need to know the exact number on the scale. Progress!! :)

Great looking ladies RTK, going to be watching your CKS train wreck, our topped train wreck is well over her expected harvest date already and still has more time left to go. Good to see that " Puddy Tat" getting bigger, can see a lil mischief in those eyes :-)

Blessed Buds our friend

Oh man I gotta get over and check out your train wreck. I'm a fan of the strain so far, despite our first being a bit of a disaster, she was still a good smoke. I'm pretty excited about our second, she and our NYC Diesel are my best examples of how I want their training to turn out. I think both are going to produce above our average, assuming I don't screw 'em up in the coming days.

Hi Hey Hello High Yogi, and welcome. It makes me super proud that Sue thinks so highly of us and our grow, I think we've done pretty well for our first year, the anniversary of which is coming up in 13 short days. We germinated our first ever seeds on Halloween night last year, but I didn't start our first journal until a few weeks in. That's the journal that really shows the most progress I think, and ended up winning second place in a Crop King Seeds grow journal contest. This one may not have won anything, but I'm still pretty proud of what it was for so long.

I just popped another DD as well, we'll be grow partners. I've been absent from the DD thread for far too long, but now I have to catch up just so I can smile at SweetSue's callout. Love that lady. :) :)

We have actually moved away from the airpots and PVC frames, but I think some of our issues with our photos in the past was due to the Spider x4 trying to light a 4x4. We've had great success with the 5 gallon felt bags, but we'll give the frames another try now that it's got a Mars II 900 in there.

That just warmed the cockles of my heart High yogi. :hugs:

Yours!? You should see my cockles, buggers are nearly glowin'!!!

:) :) :)

Alright, let's get Sunday, October 16th's post up. I went a little nuts on the camera again, sorry folks.

Our fourth CKS Early Miss (EM4) at 11 days, getting the increasingly common checkup by Charlie

Our first CKS NYC Diesel at 32 days

Our poor sickly DD3 at 45 days (15 left), she's no prize but she's building bud regardless. Excuse that first wide-shot. :)

Our second CKS Train Wreck was born the same day as DD3 above, but has 32 days left (Pets ran off I guess)

The clone from our first CKS White Widow photo

The clone from our first CH9 POW 33 (both clones are 40 days from being cut from mom)

Our third CKS Northern Lights at 76 days, one day left by the breeder's schedule, but we're letting her run out to next weekend instead. She's just got soo many full plump pistils, even though she's foxtailing like a mad-woman

Apparently only grabbed pics of our POW 33 photo, forgot WW I guess, but there's family shots of 'em both next

Family pics

I really like the way you're structuring them now, and my next ones will follow that pattern, so thank you so much for the excellent pictures. I'm loving the look of the foxtailing Northern Lights. I'm planting one and a Train Wreck tomorrow in smaller pots, so they won't be trained like this, but I'm going to be starting something in the pot the DDA3 is in when she comes down next week.

I can't believe it's gonna be a year. :yahoo: You guys have created a lovely warm light in this corner of the neighborhood. That's why I keep sending people here. :battingeyelashes:

Isn't it sweet how the DDA still went out of her way to grow thick and frosty colorful colas? What a delightful strain.

I'm quite in love with our two middle-aged girls, TW2 and NYC Diesel. If only they'd all turn out so well. As for NL3, she got her last little flush the other day and will come down on Friday. Even then she'll only be about six days i think past CKS's advertised timeline.

It's a much quieter corner than it was, so new visitors are the highlights of my week. Thanks for the vote of confidence Sue. :hugs:

Lookn' good Arteekay, looking good.... :goodjob:

Thanks Rooster, always appreciate your visits. Hope all is well.

*Waves to Charlie*

Beautiful plants as always!

I guess you didn't see our third Dark Devil?

Staggering the germinations and having at least one plant to harvest every month has allowed us to shrug off the less than perfect far more easily than 6 or 8 months ago. She's an "oh well, let's pop another one" instead of feeling like a disaster that'll affect our stash.

For the grow, my only regret is that I didn't start a year earlier. Or is that a decade? Could be either.

They are very pleasing to the eye. There is a natural balance to them and I can see the care you put into them. Love that it's close to your anniversary. I guess I forgot I joined around this time too! Happy anniversary man! You have come a long wonderful distance.

Some are better than others, but I think we're still improving overall. I sometimes forget it's only been 11 months since we soaked our first ever seed.

And of course I'll say it one more, and not anywhere near the last time, it was finding this wonderful community that saved our first set of 6 plants. More specifically, it was somehow lucking into being in the right place at the right time when you were bored and looking for a noob to take under your wing. Thank you one more time my friend.

To those that don't know, my big brother Mr. ShiggityFlip without question saved our grow back on December 5th, with this post. It's worthwhile to scroll up the page and see what our plants were starting to look like before. Ouch.

I think I'm going to keep this schedule going for a while and see how it goes; Pics every second night, with journal posts on the other days. Once winter is set in I'll try to get back to dailies. :)

Here's the pics from Tuesday, October 18th.

EM4 at 13 days, and ready for her topping. In the third pic, I've purposefully blurred everything except the growth I'm looking for before I consider her ready for topping.

Next up is DD3 at 47 days. With 13 days left in the advertised schedule, we popped DD4 into her 420mag nug jar of water for her initial soak.

Here's the clones of our WW and POW 33 at 42 days

Up next is TW2 at 47 days, with a little over four weeks to go

I'm pretty happy with how our first NYC Diesel auto is looking at 34 days. She's got the thickest branches we've had so far. Hopefully that translates in flowering. :)

And finally is NL3 at 78 days, one day past the CKS advertised timeline

The fam

I can't thank you enough for posting those exquisite pictures of the topping. I've been helping a friend learn indoor growing and he just said to me today that he was totally lost on what everyone is talking about when they discuss topping. I was getting ready to do a tutorial with my next candidate and here you've saved me the time and trouble.

You know I adore you, right? :hugs:

Let me PM this to him right now.

I adore you. :slide:  :slide:

Sure ya can, ya just did! You are very :welcome:. :)

Well, if there's one small thing I can take off the incredibly full plate you carry around here, I'm happy to help.

I've had enough people myself ask me "at what age?", so I thought I'd try something to point out what I'm looking for developmentally, regardless of what day she's at.

I feel the need to point out that what I'm doing I believe is commonly referred to as micro-topping. It could be argued that I'm waiting a few days too late to classify as really "micro", but the point is it's done by hand by bending into a U one way then the other until it pops off. I'd rather not wait until it's big enough to comfortably do a traditional topping with scissors, clippers, trimmers or whatever, particularly on an auto. There's no real chance of a FIM occurring either.

:slide:  :slide: right back at ya.

Oh boy oh boy guess who's comin into the city next weekend?!?

Hope you boys are up for getting wild! Haha  wild stoned!!

I'll hitchas up with a text this week!

:high-five:

I confess, I mostly had eyes for Charlie... :laughtwo:

Except when she's sleeping out of sight, she's the absolute center of attention, for resident and guess alike. Generally it's just two adult males, a dog and another cat, but it doesn't matter how many are here, all eyes are on her.

...and now THIS! Hubba! Hubba! I'm in love.

She came down the next day, harvest post coming up. :high-five:

Looking great here as usual brother!!! We harvested the topped train wreck tonight and buds were pretty good looking we think.

Blessed Buds our friend and be well :circle-of-love:

Dropping a little train wreck here for ya :passitleft:

Excellent!!! I'll drop over and +rep ya before I post my update(s). Congrats bud!

You're timing couldn't be better. Our Lemon Skunk and Quarter Pounder harvests are nicely cured now. We gonna get Cheeeeesy buddy?

There you are, you elusive scamp. :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

I'll be back to see your harvest post. I had another DDA come down today too. Busy day in the neighborhood, eh?

Alright, time to get the end of last week's pictures posted. I'll start with Thursday, October 20.

Up first is DD4, our fourth Dark Devil just poking up an elbow

Then I'll jump to the photos, first the flowering girls with two and three weeks left, and then their clones

Did a bunch of trimming and defol on the clones

Our first NYC Diesel auto is next

Appparently I took a bunch of pics after I did a bunch of defol on her

Our fourth Early Miss, two days after her topping

Our third Dark Devil, just abou done. Surprised with the size and density of her nugs, considering all her fan leaves were useless

Our third CKS Northern Lights auto on her last day

Our second CKS Train Wreck auto, well into flowering now with four weeks left

Family pics

Friday, October 21st.

We decided it was time to transplant our clones, and we'd already planned to harvest our third Crop King Seeds Northern Lights auto, so we raced through the processing of the rest and got right to work.

Alright, in all honesty, Jaybiz was off early and had the transplants done by the time I got home, but it was still a busy night. :)

Up first is a couple family shots

Grabbed a couple pics of NYC Diesel while she was out, during the reorganization from bring NL3 out

And then we got straight into the harvest. We didn't remember to get a final weight before we started harvesting, so we've no wet weight to report this time dammit

Here's what we hung, I guessed 7.5. Jaybiz guessed 8.5. There's at least 6 ounces there I'm sure, so it's another one above our average. Woohooot.

You're shifting your average upwards, and spoiling us all rotten at the same time.

Excellent harvest. If I hadn't already awarded you the reps you'd be getting them now.

Jay, step out so I can give you reps. Just say hello, that's all I need. :hugs:

I love the way you've learned to structure your plants for efficiency of space and ease of watering. The photos are just right, with enough space for air flow but tight enough not to be gangly. They're really impressive guys. :bravo:

Hell, the whole garden is impressive. How much longer on the DDA? Amazing how they still reward you with that inky goodness. A couple weeks ago we were looking at that one wondering what you left it live. I'm much wiser now. :battingeyelashes:
