Friday, Dec 19 update. Went a little camera crazy. New shipment of medicine arrived today and it kinda scrambled me a bit. hehe

Family pics:

Tallest Candy Cane continues to stretch and is now at 32 inches, dammit. Seems to have taken her bloom nutes yesterday fine so far:

Next tallest, the Northern Lights, stayed at 21 inches and was dry and light. She also got full strength DNF Bloom A+B and Calmag (900ppm and 5.8 PH):

Next up is droopy, who stayed at 15 inches. I untucked her a bit just to help her breath for a day or so:

Trudy round out the first four and stayed at 18 inches, She was the driest I've ever felt our pots and maybe should have been watered yesterday, but doesn't seem to have affected her much. She got another dose of DNF Grow A+B and Calmag at full strength (840ppm and 5.8 PH):

Rev is stretching her tops up in a nice little ring. She got soaked with the same nutes as Trudy:

And finally little Britney:

I am so darn impressed with this grow. You guys are taking things to the next level now. This journal is proof that a grow journal is the best recipe for success. You have tons of people there and ready to help you succeed, then become cheerleaders when you do. I like the structure on these plants. Even droopy is not so droopy anymore.

Couldn't agree more. Looks like the plants of an experienced grower.

Maybe it's the fact were all linked with the various silly legal systems we have to operate in, but this is seriously one of the coolest "communities" out there.

Thanks guys. And couldn't agree more, everyone here asks like they have an invested interest in each grow. Too bad we couldn't share samples of the finished product with the people that helped along the way.

There is no question in my mind we are only doing as well as we are thanks to this grow journal and the community that hosts it, and the fact that you stuck around long enough to notice the seemingly small thing of what the pots are sitting on.

Droopy is a perpetually unhappy girl, I'm not sweating her mood swings anymore.

"Droopy! Shut up, quit yer whining and just do your own thing. I don't care who's fault it was, I just want quiet."

Our tallest girl's secondary tops are 2 inches taller than the primary top of our next tallest. Thankfully I don't think she put on much height from yesterday. At 5 inches to the bottom of the light though we still had to re-rig our tent to get more height out of one of the lights.

I've half a mind to stick her in the other tent in pitch black for a day.

Now that is an awesome compliment, although when you think about it... it's this community that grew them, Biz and I are just the hands of the collective mind.

So good job all!

Yeah, the slam the top into the light technique remains more an art than science.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Today's update.

We spent some time today working on quieting down the inline fan, we had rigged it pretty quickly when we installed and it was fairly loud. We took the box from one of the new LED lights and opened up the top and bottom, then set it on top around the fan. Immediately the noise from the fan itself virtually disappeared. Tomorrow's plan is to run some cheap venting off the top to redirect the exhaust. Right now it blows directly on the floorboards right under our living room and is quite noticeable. We can look at further improvements after these girls are out of the flower tent.

Next up was taking two of the carabiners out of the highest light's hanger. Zip tied the ratchet hanger directly to the top support bars (leaving the carabiner in place as a fail-safe on the zip tie) and removed the one supplied by the light manufacturer. Sadly this leaves us without a quick connect to pull out the light, but it'll do for now and we'll never not train our plants again, so the light should never have to be this high again either.

That is until the next round of tent work, where all current plans are discarded and everything is possible. Of course we took the opportunity to vacuum and tidy up the tent while it was empty. Fighting the never ending battle against household hair.

Tonight's pics.

Family pics:

First up is the unnamed Northern lights, who grew a half inch from yesterday on bloom nutes:

Next up is the tallest, the Candy Candy unnamed, who may have finally stopped stretching her main top:

Trudy stayed at 18 inches:

Droopy rounds out the first four tonight:

She continues to be problematic. we've notice a touch of brown on her. She's light enough to get fed and watered tonight or tomorrow, but I'm not sure what we'll give her.

Suggestions? Currently considering giving her a good flush and nothing else.

Rev had her main top LST'd one more time:

Britney got nothing but some TLC, she'll get fed and watered tomorrow, and we'll likely move her around a bit with some LST:

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Today's pics, taken mid-afternoon without turning off the LEDs.

Family:

Tallest Candy Cane, top down:

Tallest Northern light, sitting on 10 inches of blocks. The front middle stalk is actually from the tallest Candy Cane, but she's sitting on the tent floor.

Just her top:

All this talk of the Almighty Tallest has me thinking of naming them Spork and Miyuki. So very alive. And filled with goo! Mission goo!

Anyway,

Droopy, trying again to stand up. Despite being in flower, we're gonna left her dry out another night:

Trudy is just about near perfect. Every leaf on her is up and flat and she's building buds like mad:

Britney, getting watered tonight and we've decided to leave her alone in regards to training. Very light and just starting to wilt:

And Rev, her top is back to straight up and is below three or four others. That'll be it for training on her:

Looks super good! How old are those sexy ladies now?

Good point, I know but rarely post it, I'm going to include that info in my future updates.

The two Candy Canes and Northern Lights are 45 days old from sprout, or 50 days from when they started germination.

Early Miss (Britney) is 37 days old, or 42 days from when she took her first overnight bath.

Revolver (Rev) is 34 days old, also 42 days from start of germination, she was a slow girl well behind Early Miss until Britney had her accident.

Thanks for asking, got Biz and me talking about it and making sure our numbers are right.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Sundays.... I remember when they were for napping on the couch all day.

After we quieted down the fan the other night by surrounding it in a Mars II 900w led light box, we still needed to stop it from blowing directly up onto the underside our our living room. It was quiet everywhere except where we spend the most time.

We needed to attach a vent to the end and run it somewhere.

The easiest solution was, of course, to tear apart the entire basement just one more time for a complete reworking. Simple.

Flower and veg tent swapped, now we could run the venting into the next room where nobody would care about it (under a corner of the kitchen we are never in). We had some cheap dryer flexible venting, good enough for now. Not actually sure why we'd need anything else?

I'm happy to report that our exhaust system is odor free and not discernible except when within a few feet of the tent itself. Completely disappears into the rest of the usual household noise. WOoOT.

My OCD will likely require I purchase a meter to determine what my actual airflow is, but for now I can say it's not noticeable weak.

Thankfully we had our Vice President of Internal Security on hand to ensure our safety during the reconstruction and move.

(Lurking in the shadows, ready to defend at a moments notice.)

(what was THAT?!?!)

(I swear I hear something!)

(ahhhh, screw it.)

We were going to add Loss Prevention into his duties and responsibilities, but we expect slippage to be nearly incalculable. Not only that but we also often find him napping off all the hard work he puts in to our Floating Hair department.

After all that had gone on, we still had to give the tallest Candy Cane and Britney their meal and bath.

  • Britney got soaked with full strength DNF Grow A+B and Calmag+, at about 890ppm and 5.7 PH. Can't wait to see her in a day or two.
  • The Tallest Candy Cane, who I'm now going to call Candi (with an i, because she was desperately trying to be the pole other bad girls disappoint their father's around) got full strength DNF Bloom A+B and Calmag+, at about 850ppm and 5.8 PH.

I've asked Candi very nicely to stop growing, I've cut her grow nutes off in hope of inspiring her to turn her life around, but this child is just obstinate!

Time for Plan B.

Biz tried ignoring her, but she seemed determined to shrug that off. I'd had enough and we were both was raised in a household that saw a swat on the ass if I didn't behave. This girl's will needed to be broken, or at least bent.

With that I used one bamboo switch and hit her on one side, forcing her over so that her top could be dealt with.

Then she saw the second switch and I swear I saw her twitch....

With a "Will I regret this in the morning? Ah well, just another one on the pile" I bent that defiant little brat right over my knee and I instantly saw her demeanor change. I think she had learned her lesson now, for better or worse.

Before:

Her punishment:

She took it like the champ I expected her to be. Not a hint of droop or wilt noticed while we were still working around her, and even before we put her back into her room with her light and sisters, she was already looking up.

Within two hours she was reaching for the sky again.

Top turned right up, didn't expect this sharp an angle out of her:

Far right side is another branch turning back up:

Branch dead center turning back up:

Full stance:

Just noticed the night security crew isn't much better than our daytime detail:

Another one doing double duty in the Floating Hair department.

We may need to have a staff meeting.
