Any idea what's up with these seedlings?

It isn’t a bad NPK ratio (~5-1-6) - it’s a little light on Ca and Mg - but you can always add a little CalMg. You could probably bump the dose up by 5ml/10L every week - just watch the color of the bottom leaves and increase if they start to turn a pale green. You could probably run the entire grow with Vega - bloom boosters are not really necessary.

No, but if your timer or pump quits, ya have a res to save yer butt!

Hempy usually has a reservoir that is around 20% of the bucket volume - typically about 2 to 2 1/2” above the bottom.
:passitleft:

I have some Ca/Mg there. i bought 2 different types one is canna calmag agent and the other is TA/GHE cal mag 1.0.0
i bought for the last grow i had as the plants had some slight deficiencies but never used it as the plants were due to get chopped.
NPK is something i need to read up more on as i don't fully understand it. i know the numbers on the bottle represent the amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium but that's all i understand about it.

So would i be better waiting until the bottom leaves start showing a pale green then upping the nutrients by 5ml or just up it each week.
I'm assuming i would up the nutrients by 5ml each week until i reach the recommended amount that is on the canna feed chart ?

I do like having a res there, it's partly why i chose hempy last time plus the simplicity of the whole setup. This time around not so much simplicity, i haven't even managed to get the plants in their buckets yet and I've already experienced issues.

I'll remember that for next time around, i think last time i put the hole 2 inches up but i wasted a lot of nutrients aswell but then i was growing them in 20L buckets lol

There are two approaches - push ‘em hard and keep increasing on a schedule - or watch for signs that the plant wants more N (and hence, everything else at a good ratio). I tend to follow the philosophy that it’s easier to correct a slight deficiency than to wonder if it’s a toxicity or a deficiency when an issue shows up.

So i would be better to watch for the plants changing to a paler green and up the nutrients as apposed to upping the nutrients on a schedule.

i forgot to ask in my previous post where you mentioned that i could probably run the entire grow on vega. is that without using the flores A + B ?

Probably - most of the hype regarding PK boosts for blooming are just that.

Check out farside05’s grows using basically the same nutrient ratio from seed through harvest - one grow yielding 29.5 oz off 3 Autos! He definitely is in the push ‘em hard camp.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll have a look at farside05's grows and see what i can learn.

I'm guessing that any nutrients used for flower are basicly PK Booster's.

I don't know if was in the push 'em hard camp with my last grow lol.
I managed to go through 2 lots of Advanced nutrients pH perfect Micro, Grow and Bloom 250ml voodoo juice, 500ml of b52, 500ml of big bud, 250ml of overdrive. i managed just over 26 oz from 3 autos

I appreciate you posting.
Thanks, have some teething problems at the moment though as had a leak when filling the main reservoir.
I'm sure I've read some of your posts previously, another member mentioned you in one of their posts. Did you do a dutch/bato style hempy grow ?

I‘m soil guy but yes we did a hempy run with Bluters help but pretty confident I had russet mites in the room cuz everything crapped the bed at once even the hempy plant. I’m finally digging out from that avalanche and restarting my grow.

It might have been bluter that mentioned you and told me to have a look through your posts. I wasn't able to find the posts he was referring to though.
I've looked at some of your posts with the soil. Is it living soil ?
My previous and first ever grow was hempy but instead of using just perlite I used a coco and perlite mix. Got some great advice from bluter, vetsmoke and a few other members throughout my grow and things went a lot better than I was expecting, I managed just over 26oz from 3 autos but for whatever reason this time around I've got doubts and not feeling quite as optimistic about this grow.

The little girls are starting to look a lot better and perkier now.
I took them out from under the light for a couple of days and put them near the window and fed them 1ml of aqua vega 0.5ml part A and part B. I put the pots in the container they came in so the run off sits at the bottom acting like a small reservoir.

I planted another 4 more as the other 4 didn't germinate, 3 of them have popped one doesn't seem like it's doing anything. Not sure if it was my error that the other 4 didn't germinate at all or if the seeds were just bad but its looking like another might not germinate. I've watered it more and left it sitting on the heat mate so hopefully it germinates.

Yes it’s LOS, my journal is a real crap fest first few months I snapped pics but never posted, then found out digital camera was in some funky macromode so I didn’t document first 5 plants or so.

I’m just now restarting after the Great Fungus Gnat & Spider Mite Orgy of 2020 which extend into this year followed by what was thought to be Hemp Russet Mites…. hope I‘ve got it turned around now. Oh yes VetSmoke is great, same goes for Bluter & Felipe lots of real pros here. I’m just newbie trying to learn….

They’re already reaching for light. :thumb:

The older seedlings are roughly the same height as before but their leaves have grown, they stretched due to me not having them under sufficient lighting, I thought for the first few days the fluorescents would have been enough but they aren't grow fluorescent bulbs so they stretched. The new seedlings though have stretched over the space of 1 day since popping through the soil so put them under the blurple grow light until I can get them up into the loft maybe next week.

At the beginning before I chose to go with coco for my first grow I looked into organic grows and living soil but trying to find suppliers for certain things was a bit difficult as all the people I was following were from the US and Canada so the mediums and other stuff they used isn't available here in the uk. Luckily I haven't had to deal with any type of bugs, not sure if its the medium or growing indoors etc but hopefully I never have to deal with them.
My journal's have been a bit all over the place aswell to be fair. I post then realise I could have done things a bit better if I only took the time and made them more interesting.

Hopefully your grow pulls through and you get good results this time around.
Yea there's an abundance of great information for newbies on here and the members are great. I would chime in and try help others but being a new grower I don't really know a huge amount to give advice so leave it to the members who do.

Not familiar with those nutes, I’ve seen them around so I recognize the name. Anyway are you using a cal-mag product? With most nutes it’s just NPK and does not include the calcium & magnesium.

It’s supposed to be understood that cal-mag is necessary….. but not everyone got the memo including me when I first started - check your nute labels

I would probably start with something like 10ml ( 5ml of each)/10ml, which should
provide 66ppm

I upped their nutrients last night to 2ml per litre
1ml part A
1ml part B
It’s a good time for an increase. (Edit: my original post should have read /10L)

If I've read what your saying right that would work out to (0.5ml A) and (0.5ml B) ?

5 ml of each in 10 Litres would be 0.5 of each part A/B per litre.

As the plants aren't in their final buckets yet I have no need to mix 10 litres or more until they get transplanted so have been making 1 litre every other day.

I started them on 0.5ml part A and 0.5ml part B last week.

Sorry if I've picked you up wrong and mistaken what you were saying.

You might add a little. As I recall, the nutrient you’re using is a bit light on Ca and Mg. I’m away from my spreadsheet until tomorrow night, so can’t give you an exact amount. It probably doesn’t need it right away anyway though.
