Another Tabletop Crop: Carmen's Spring Grow With Vipar Spectra XS 1500 Pro

Wooooo, new babies come out :cheer:
Thank you Valerie!
Looking good @Carmen Ray :green_heart:

Nice selection of strains also.
Now to catchup on your other journal.

Be safe, and grow well my friend,
Tok..
You too Tok, thank you :)
Woohoo! Thanks Shed.

They've straightened out their kinks and fully hatched this morning

Greetings, the babies are doing fine on day 3. As they blow gently in the breeze they strengthening their little stems. The one on the left is actually RR auto 2 and the one on the right, RR auto 1. I had them rotated at the time of the pics. The #2 plant has scarred cotyledons from its helmet but is greening up just fine. Anyway that is how they are identified. The #1 plant is the almost pristine little one and the #2 the slightly scarred.

Thanks for following along :)

Congrats on the new arrivals Carmen!

That RR sounds like and interesting cross. :)

Hi Carmen, they look sweet and happy today! Already this soil seems to be working better! Are you thinking that too?
Hi Otter thank you, I think the Freedom Farms starter mix is great for them so far. I'm collecting their forever soil this week. I am considering putting them in 7 Gal bags this time and wondering if I have the physical strength to manage them that big if they need special attention. Decisions, decisions :)

Well if you do, handles are the way to go! :thumb:

I thought it through and I feel I might do myself an injury if I tried to move a bigger plant. Handles would help for sure, but I think I will do another run with 20 L bags until I am confident with the new soil.
haha, Adorable. I also love watching this stage of growth!
Thank you Valerie, me too :)

Hola!

Ticking along!

I am considering putting them in 7 Gal bags this time and wondering if I have the physical strength to manage them that big if they need special attention.
You mentioned once to me that you didn’t want to do a SIP because because of weight and electrical worries? A 5 gallon SIP is only 2/3 weight of a full soil grow when empty (and put a valve on it so you can empty at will for any moving issues)

I’m measuring a couple of smaller SIPs tomorrow - but I think my little one is only 3 gallons. That got a Do Si Dos nearly to 5ft - missed it by a smidgin before it died. Shed’s fault mostly 😂

The water/electricity thing I’m not sure how its an issue - even the lights fell on the SIP its covered by soil or even a lid?

Anyway - new soil and a known grow setup with no complications is probably best - summer’s coming and can’t be stuck at home worrying about plants!

Thanks Nick, glad to have you along. I have no interest in doing a SIP but I will gladly watch you do yours :)

Greetings and happy hump day.

Time is passing by but not a lot to see at this stage. However, I felt a summary was in order.

On advice from the guys who sold me the soil, I have given one foliar feed with Seagro. The seedlings are in seedling starter only. They are not in the actual soil yet and it will be a while before they are up-potted. I would have liked to have done a 50 % mix with the classic organic soil but I haven't collected it yet. I will continue to foliar feed as suggested and report back here.

I moved them closer to the light because I didn't want them getting too leggy. I must be clear that the seedlings are not directly under the light at 100 % intensity, they are on the periphery, in the shade of the flowering plants, which are under the lights at 100 % intensity.

Thanks for keeping me company while I grow.

Healthy and vibrant!
Thank you Valerie :)

Here's my proof of life photo for the day. They are doing fine. I am bottom watering them via a wick which sits on a saucer. I am giving them Seagro and Evironoc 401 (microbes), just enough to keep em green in the seedling mix. They are getting between 500 and 600 PPFD. They don't seem stressed in the least by that amount of light.
