The reason why I balked at journaling initially was that being new to indoor growing, I didn't want to feel foolish if I failed dramatically.
Kinda like I did with GrowNumber2, when I killed a tent full of beautiful budding ladies 3 weeks before harvest.
This time, GrowNumber3, the failure has been a lot earlier! For some reason, Germination has not been successful. I've had a 100% success rate in previous grows germinations!
But...I've ordered some 'Incredible Bulk' seeds and hopefully they're on their way. So this journal is NOT abandoned! Just a false start.
So I'll be germinating 16 Incredible Bulk in a couple of weeks. Because they are supposedly big girls, I've reduced the number in the tent to allow them a bit more breathing space.
The 1 little struggler of these C99 x Blueberry seeds that's sprouted....'The Little Prince'(ess) (named after the lonely little character in Antoine de Saint Exupery's beautiful book) will be given every opportunity for survival and I'll journal that outcome.

Maybe the loner is your Power Africa and it may have germinated quicker than the blueberry.
I wouldn't give up yet on the rest, it has only been 5 days and many seeds take longer. perseverance furthers, hang in there

No more germinating action at all! It looked like a few cracked but had tiny feeble little tap roots that didn’t know where to go?! Normally I expect them to grow up then straight down. Is that your experience with germinating?

Alright lets kill it Anna. My partner in crime Sneaky is AWOL so we will grow big plants together and become Sun Gods in Paradise (we were thinking about going on big holiday to South America with our massive harvests but I got busted!).

O.K...Credit where credit is due...Yantra sent me replacement seeds plus 6 extra of a different strain as soon as they were aware of the germinating issue.
So I’ve got 10 out of the 20 ‘C99 x Blueberry’ seeds and 6 ‘WhiteWidowFAST’ in distilled water and after 24 hours all have sunken.

I have no idea if distilled water is O.K but haven’t set up my reverse osmosis thingy yet. Curse my lack of DIY savviness.(I don’t think that’s a word so for a proofreader/Scribe; I’m failing everywhere atm).

And now, in the spirit of full disclosure and transparency - which is how this journaling biz works I’m assuming, I’m going to reveal the ugly result of an Additive Addiction:

And TBH:...,I’ve got a couple more on the way. Please don’t judge me! I’m a complete sucker for AN’s slick marketing...even though it sounds like complete B.S. I can’t help myself!!!
Now if you recall, I had a tiny struggler of a seedling called The Little Prince/ess? Well she was going nowhere with her life so I pulled the pin and turned off life support (the light). I couldn’t justify the costs.

So RIP and into the compost pile.
I will be showing the results of GrowNumber3PartB’s germination ASAP. I hope. My confidence is a little shaken to be honest!

YES! I would love some advice on the next step. May I please give you a few options available and allow you to choose the best?
1. Leave seeds in water until the 38-40 hour mark OR 48 + hours?
2. Put seeds into the hole of Rockwool cubes? Or straight into Coco in Solo Cups? My Rapid Rooter things haven’t arrived yet.
3. Put tray of either cups or cubes under an LED immediately for warmth but Veg switch on only?

To be fair, I don’t have much confidence in the seed breeder anymore BUT the ‘Incredible Bulk’ I ordered from a European breeder informed me that statistically I have a 16% chance of having the seeds seized by Customs. So they wanted to know if they should actually go ahead and send them. So if the odds were much better, I probably wouldn’t even bother trying these seeds again.

You have to remember that 16% is of all international seed orders and some people order a huge amount of seeds so really they are just covering their ass.

I like option 3 with cubes. Take seeds out of water and put into cubes under light on veg cycle. You cant go wrong we will talk once they are a couple inches tall.

PS solo cups are a disaster get yourself some decent size pots to put your cubes in once they are big enough. Solo cup size isn't worth the transplant. Also get some mycorrhizae for transplant since you are growing in soil.

Thanx. I'll be leaving the journal until the new baby girls are worth photographing, so you lovely 420'ers don't waste your time....when there are SO many actually awesome plants to see on other journals.
Having had this change of seed supplier - I have to give serious props to my old ones...Ministry of Cannabis, PlanetSkunk, AMS, Greenpoint. Those seeds all germinated with a mission. As opposed to these lazy, flimsy, half-hearted things.
If I was religious, I'd be praying for my 'Incredible Bulk' seeds package to slide by Customs over-zealous, beady eyes. They should concentrate on seizing things that matter (child porn, crystal meth etc).

Hang on; I shouldn't be judgmental on crystal meth and those who enjoy it. Like all drugs, it should be a health issue rather than a legal one.

I'm the same way with strains. I want to buy them all. Some seed banks actually recommend Distilled water so no worries there. I'm also using soft water (9-13ppm) and then Britta filtering which has the same recommendation as using RO water. I too just found out last week I needed to add cal mag with every feeding because of my super clean Canadian water. Not sure what the LEDS have to do with it but sounds legit. I also noticed we have the same light manufacturer. Great minds get stoned a like... Wait that's not the saying...

Thanks for that info. My 2nd round of the seeds, replaced by the Australian breeder all germinated BUT same tiny, flimsy, weak seedlings that weren’t really growing. I pulled the pin on them last night. Couldn’t justify the time/electricity! So now I’m waiting on my seeds from an overseas seed breeder...which could take 3-4 weeks.

Can I tell you - before I started using rainwater, my tap water was reading 320 ppm. So I bought a Britta water filter jug, put it through twice and it then read....320 ppm. Does yours work?? And yes - my 1st Grow liked it when I started using Cal/Mag.
I’m so happy to hear your lights work cos I haven’t seen them used by anyone else on 420 and I was starting to worry (with my germination issues).
And you know what was kinda weird? Out of the 15 seeds that germinated, 5 were twins. Ever seen that?
