Hootenanny's Perpetual Grow

Next Gen Update

Things are ticking along nicely.. a little slower than I would like, its been soo cold here! Tent temps have been between 16-20 celcius (60-68F) with 60-70%RH. I put a small heater in the room to bring it up to 27 degrees. I also didnt notice until today but they have had lights on 24/7 this week, have changed the timer to 18/6 will give them a few days of that and then flip to 12/12.

The heater was mainly added to speed up the drying a tiny bit... but not too much. buds are still super wet almost a week later because of the low temps and high humidity. I would hate to have any mold!! heater should have them ready for bagging by monday I'm hoping, so I can snip all the bud off the branches.

Few pics of the plants below with an update on the plant that was pruned and bent over in one of the posts above.

The previous harvest I set aside about 3oz of nice looking bud, gave it a slow dry ~2 weeks then jarred for about 4 weeks being burped, daily at first then every 2-3 days. They were then about 60% RH when I put them in with a 67g 58% Boveda pack. 6 weeks later they're a beautiful smoke. This batch was also flushed with about 1 Tbsp of honey/ gal of water for 14 days. :yummy:

Woah quite a lot going on here!!! Love the detail man I LOVE it!!!!
How do you find using the geo pots man? Do you like them more than plastic?
And to add to the debate, I agree that plants look healthier on 18/6 than 24/0, and its using less electricity. I have found this across all strains Ive used. As soon as veg starts, 18/6 is how I do

Cheers man and welcome to my journal.. I try and include as much detail as possible, I do things simply and its easily replicatable, so if it helps someone to grow their own cannabis or someone picks something up they can apply to their current grow then it's been worth my time.

Having said that, I dont know everything and I forget quite a bit so documenting it should hopefully help me grow my own cannabis a bit better too :)

This is the first time I've used the geopots. So its too early to really tell. I like how they have a smaller footprint for the same coco volume. They dry out quicker, which should be a good thing. Though it has occured to me that the quicker drying out may leave more unused nutrient salts, so thats something to keep in mind.

Thats what I try to do too :) I was lurking many forums before deciding on this one. People here care about growing, not drama <3
Personally, I have found exactly what is occuring to you after testing. Ive tried 3 different brands of pots, and Ive gone back to plastic after spending lots of money on the geo/smart pots :-(. Thats why all my new plants are in plastic pots whilst my 2 LSDs and Damnesia is in the last brand of geo pot I tried. Because they dry out so quickly and so completely, watering them always involves 1-5 mins of letting the coco absorb the moisture instead of repelling it.
One thing I havent tried yet though are plastic bag pots!!!! I have a feeling that they combine the best of both worlds.

Also has a bit too do with which brand of coco you use. I've only ever used canna coco, which a friend has told me holds water better than most. Where as others dont hold the water as well. Depending on how you want to structure your watering schedule, and what your environment is like different combinations of coco to container would suit better.

The other reason I've got a journal going is these girls are soo photogenic and they're highly illegal here so I don't get to share what im doing with anyone! I have my inlaws visit a couple times a month, pretty sure they have no idea whats going on in the spare room...at least that's what I tell my wife and myself

Some of the smaller colas had dried to where its time to jar them. So this morning I smoked some, listened to the new tash saltana album for the first time with headphones (was surprisingly good) and snipped em off the branches. I'll have a look at the rest tomorrow morning. They should be ready by then.. Some of those thickest colas though, can feel crispy on the outside but still have HEAPS of moisture on the inside.

Got some pics of the freshly dried bud this morning..

Thanks man! They have already got their amazing fruity mango smell back.. I usually flush with a bit of honey, this time i didn't. Can definitely smell the difference!!

I dont do anything with the sugar leaves.. they end up in the bin! :hmmmm: I feel bad about it sometimes but I have soo much bud its just easier to discard.

Few pics from inside the flowering tent just before lights come on.. They look about ready to flush.

Pushed them a little hard on the nutes these last few weeks. I'm putting it down to watering nutes every day. Will continue to water nutes everyday, but dial it back a bit, and do a mini flush at the end of each week with weak nutes next round.

Whats cracking hoots. Beautoful girls round here. Loving the colours in the buds super pretty. What strain is that? Im sure you've said but im speed reading to catch up lol

Cheers man. You could definitely use more space.

2 x 600s in 8x4 is dim around the oustide 100mm. Only worth leaving the very top bud site around that area.

3 x 600s would be better quality bud, but I think it would result in less grams per watt. Electricity here is about 0.32c a kw. My power consumption is about 30% over the average around here. I worry about adding anymore power draw for risk of raising a few eyebrows and someone deciding to look into why I use soo much power
What about 3x400s and just have em a little closer?

Bruh i highly reccomend getting some bubble bags. Bubble hash is easy as hell to make and gives you a good finished product for minimal effort. Ice, water, egg beater, trim in the top bag mix the shit out of it and let it drain. Each bag will hold a different grade of hash I just chuck mne all together though anyway. Im a picky trimmer aswell. If its not dense or just too small it goes in the trim bag

Not much man, just got back from freedive spearfishing. Didn't find any fish worth bringing home but its always good to get in the water. Thanks for the kind words, they sure a beauties :yummy:

Strain is Mangolicious from AMS, Smells exactly like dried mango during flower!! Nice high and smooth smoke once dried. Added benefit is its an easy strain to grow and high yield.

3 x 400s would work well for the 8' length but would still have problems getting good coverage in the width. 2 x 600s is the best balance for power consumption / heat / light output ect..

I haven't been able to buy bubble bags locally, and am paranoid about ordering anything cannabis related to my house. Honestly, I've still got scissor trim hash from last grow still to smoke let alone the trim hash from this. I made 250g of butter 2 grows ago using 2 oz of top quality bud and im still getting through that slowly haha

Whaaaat. I would love to do that ish!!. I was called dolphin salad fish boy by my parents. 1 cos I swam underwater like a mermaid and could swim nearly 2 lengths underwater. 2 cos i made weird clicky noises as a kid lol.

Strain sounds awesome ill have to look into that

Loool fair enough. I was paranoid about that stuff aswell. I still dont order most stuff to my home. Bubble bags though f*** it lol. Now that ive got things moving perpetually, chaotic but perpetually, think ill make some butter for my misses.

Give freediving a go then @Bilbobudkin420 I started getting into it about 4 years ago.. One of the best things I've ever done!

It does feel extremely wasteful throwing out trim leaf. I also seperate out alot of popcorn buds or anything I wouldn't be happy to smoke myself. I haven't always been fortunate enough to be able to grow my own cannabis, and we can all agree no one once to receive that crap haha

Butter is awsome! Only problem is how strong it can be (maybe I should stop taking soo much ) and how long it lasts!
