Amy Gardner Of Eden: Perpetually Organic

Oh BTW - The Early Miss got bud-washed Of course!

That’s just a given for me these days but in case other folks haven’t come across washing your buds, we use 3 buckets for a standard wash (4 if there’s been white powdery mildew in which case a prewash bucket with an H202 solution is used). Just room temperature water is ok, preferably not super cold. Usually it’s the 5gallon buckets I use. 1st bucket gets water with 1/4 cup of bicarbonate soda and 1/4 4cup of lemon or lime juice mixed in. The 2nd and 3rd buckets are plain water. Branches get dipped and agitated for about 15second or so in each bucket Being careful not to touch the sides or base of the bucket so as not to damage the trichomes. I like to ‘throw’ as much of the excess water off (I wash outside ;) the birds love it!) as I can before hanging. I let it hang in the light for a few hours before moving it to the darkened drying zone.

There’s a thread on budwashing here.

and an old pic of the joys of bud washing... i love the bubbles!

Love those photo's of your EM chopping day! Very nice buds, and nice quality pics. Great Job! Happy Smokin'

Amy,

Wow can’t belive it’s harvest time for Early Miss, she grew up fast! Smart move on chopping and locking in a solid harvest. While recently curing a plant I found a spec of pm on the stalk... as you know - that’s a major buzz kill.

I appreciate the strain suggestions you helped me with over at VG’s and I’ve tweaked my wish list on seed purveyors site. I’m excited to make the purchase but now experiencing seed shoppers stress. What am I missing? etc... Anyways it’s all good!

Nice fist sized buds EM graced you with, hope the taste test rocks your wake & bake!

I found Jorge Cervantes' Hydrogen Peroxide method for ridding plants of WPM and just always used his method for washing. Similar principle to the lemon juice but it's a few ounces of H2O2 per 5 gallons of water, 3 buckets and wash, rinse, rinse.

Why do you use this method vs. the H2O2 wash?

Hey Age - H202 is only required/recommend if there is WPM.

If the plant is all good I don’t need to sterilise it and would rather not sterilise if I don’t have to. The lemon-bicarb mix is enough to clean it.

the link I shared to the bud washing thread here at 420 covers this with some more detail I think.

The other reason for me not to use H2O2 is that it is extremely expensive here in this country. I pay $20-$25 for 400 mils for example.

But even if it was cheap, I would only use it in a bud wash if I had powdery mildew.

The mould that took down my summer crop wasn’t white powdery mildew or budrot. It was a fine white webby mould right at the level of the plant surface at the base of all the trichomes. It was caused in large part by a whitefly infestation that we had trouble getting on top of you to our season being so out of balance during the bushfires etc. So I just had to chop that up to a bushfire related loss, and move on. I learnt a lot about the different kinds of moulds on plants as a result. :) H202 won’t deal with Aflatoxin moulds.

Congrats on the Early Miss harvest, Amy- She was a beautiful plant-
There's many hours of enjoyment in those buds!

Yep - its going to be a decent daytime fuctional toke that may also help me rest during the day. Taste is still dry fresh/green but it has definite fruity pina colada thing going on. It’s actually very similar to the Dope Seeds’ blueberry auto i grew - i was a fruity blueberry. I’m happy to notice that because it’s new flavours to me, the fruity and slightly pineapple-y stuff, and i wasn’t sure, before, how much of that flavour was to do with growing it in a different system to the kit. This one was in the kit so i see it is just the discovery of new (to me) cannabis flavours. Nice :)

Effect-wise it is not whack me over the head potent but I think it was a lower bud that I tried. Definitely a creeper :cheesygrinsmiley: and definitely a more indica type buzz and a fairly light-hearted one to start and a bit more narcotic into the second hour as it fades... happening now. I got a few things done. Measured spaces and drew some plans for a temporary veg box and just had lunch .... and now... Nighty night :laughtwo:

Radogast pours himself a fruity Maibu Rum in honor of Early Miss - I thought it was pineapple Malibu Rum but it turned out to be passion fruit. Now I gotta raid the fridge for pineapple chunks. This summer has been a great summer for store-bought pineapples.

Early Miss Harvest Day - photo drop :ganjamon:

It’s now hang-drying in a little space between shelving units, with a computer fan in the dark in the corner there, moving some air around. I have it Wago-plugged to a switchable power brick and it’s currently just pushing a gentle breeze around in the area :) I just put one of those loose buds on top of my QB rig for a quick dry tester :)

Big love from me, fellow gard’ning canna-lovers :yummy:
I just love female super heroes!

Well done sister! I am in awe of your skill.

:)

Well done sister!
:high-five: Everyone is a work in progress and I am no exception.

I have had the benefit of an exceptional growing system the last couple of years. This is close to the last run with that and I am transitioning to other methods. All soil still - although I may try a soilless ProMix type (FauxMix) grow for a couple. I have liquid BioCanna nutes to use.

We havent seen the rest of the garden for a while ;) My Panama is very pale. It’s the first plant to go into this new ‘water only’ soil I purchased and because Panama is a sativa and likely a lighter feeder, and these soil mixes can be quite ‘hot’. I diluted it quite a bit with coco coir for the seedling starter pot. Too much obviously. :) I’ve given it a little fish fertiliser and it’s improved somewhat.

I will hopefully transplant it later today into a slightly bigger pot of much less diluted soil and we will see... I’ll update that later.

A question for the indoor growing brains trust - this is all still pretty new to me so looking for feedback on my plan for a small grow box for clones/early veg.

I am thinking of a box about 500mm wide x 320mm deep and 8-900mm high. The viparspectra P1500 I won will fit and it can dim down to 8w draw from the wall so i will have control over light intensity. I’m hoping a small cloning tray w dome will fit and still leave me space for one small 2-3L vegging pot. I’ll use a screen to shield cuttings/clones from too much light. What do folks think of that size? Am I in a practical ballpark for the purpose?

:Namaste:
