Here's a pic of Sour Diesel sitting under one of my umbrellas. Also works well when there might be a chance of rain, to help keep mold and bud-rot to a minimum.

That’s a good idea! I’d like to pick your brain on what strains have worked well in that climate for you.
Well last summer was my first grow. All 5 of my strains did pretty well and without a lot of special attention. The only one that gave me a bit of issue was Blueberry Muffin where I had to toss about 1.5 ounces due to some bud rot (still netted about 10oz of good cured bud). You can take a look at the others in my journal link below.

@BeezLuiz I had to do a double take when I saw your plant under that umbrella man. Plant is 6’ talk or more haha beautiful. That’s why I’m interested in outdoors. I could just grow one or two plants outside during the warmest months and save on electricity bills big time.
Yeah okay.... damnit... I’m in on outdoors next go around... gotta figure out what to take a cut from or which seed(s) to drop.

I’ll be in the lab cooking some bad ideas up lol!

That was certainly the tallest (82 inches) of the 5 that I grew. Totaling all non-startup costs, the crop cost me less than $6 per ounce of cured bud. Gotta love mother nature!

Highya AmyG of Eden,

Shed and SweetSue mentioned the structure of your ladies outside. That was the first thing I noticed, also. Very well spaced branches, and not let too tall. That's one thing I'm going to work on next year. That and opening the middle up more for air flow, and bud development. If I could copy your work, lol.
I can't think like I want to. I've been most of the day getting caught up on journals. Too much info, not enough RAM. Looks like the soil and amendments are working very well. Only gets better from here! Cheers

Fabulous Beez! Nice big Sour Diesel :yummy:

I read that and said "wait! what!" am I running a Sour Diesel. I had to think about it for a second. :D

@Bode I'm sure you know this already. But I found out my first year growing outside that strain selection is pretty important especially when you live where the end of summer is cooler and rainy and the breeze stops. All outdoor growers know what follows. Second year I selected two strains bred to better handle my environment.

 That did occur to me as I wrote it!

Big B Beez... and small b beez ;). It’s a subtle distinction :ganjamon:

:high-five:This is exactly the process of discovery I’m on at the moment. I’ll be auditioning strains for a few seasons I think.

Our Autumn gets cool and humid pretty quickly and the summer is fiercely hot at times with big swings in temp as well, from time to time. Plant’s need to be fairly resilient and short flowering.

Next year your NLxDDA is getting a run, beez - and I have a very good feeling about it. Northern Lights has been a popular strain in this country so I have great faith in it’s resilience to the conditions.

I grew a Gorilla Glue and Critical plant side by side outside last summer. About 3 weeks from harvest the Critical started showing some Botrytis cinereal (bud rot) here and there. Because of my climate I watch VERY closely for this. I surgically remove it like it were cancer and give myself good margins to get it all. But I have found that once it starts it is pretty near impossible to stop. If it ever starts to pick up steam I cut off every bit that I see and harvest the plant.

The day before harvest on the Gorilla Glue I spotted a very tiny bud with just the beginnings of bud rot. I tossed that bud and found no more on the rest of the plant. My biggest loss to bud rot was on a Blueberry plant grown indoors. I just never saw it and it was in both of the two main colas. I threw about just under 8 ounces of wet buds at harvest.

So sorry about the confusion. I guess I should have done a search before choosing my nickname. :Namaste:

Great, I think I've got it. :D

Same here, except it was outdoors... Blueberry Muffin was the only one of my 5 that got the yuk!

hmmm... for a minute there, I thought I quoted myself. ;)

While I was on Dope-Seeds ordering my White Widow this past weekend, I also picked up their Northern Lights. It's going to be running alongside the WW.
