True those grumpy ass furballs are great fishermen, but they get really mad when I asked them for a bite of salmon....

G’morning Dabber! Looking fine in the tub of Love! Nice pics too. Are those with the new camera lenses?

Please excuse me while I tangent...
If you need heat mount the drivers on the back wall about 1/3 of the way up and put a fan blowing down over them. This will drive the heat to the bottom of the room and will give you air circulation thru your plants.
This is a brilliant idea. You have me thinking about my closet. It's too cold in there, and this may be the answer. :hugs:
Interesting derbybud .Should i be blowing a fan down on the leds instead of up towards the intake? Popped 93 yesterday with the weather(warmish)
This is very interesting to me. I’ve been toying with the idea of putting my inlet-outlet fans at top and bottom respectively in my grow box renno. I’m going to be growing with it in the shed, during winter. I’m worried about cold. I’ll get a heat mat maybe to keep the pot warm but apparently my lights (QB) won’t make much heat.
I plan to insulate the box and run lights on during the cold early hours of the morning and lights off during the day when it’s warmer, but it gets cold in there. I’m using computer fans for in&out (it’s a 2x2x6’) and have been wondering about intake up high and outlet down low. Otherwise I’d be pulling in cold air right at the root zone and I don’t really want that!

I’m pleased to see that this is not, perhaps, a silly idea - that it might work.
I figure I can always flip the fans if it’s not working and thereby flip the flow easily if need be.
Thoughts?
:Namaste:

Working on the same kind of thing myself. So am interested in thoughts . Peanut Gallery?

To answer your question @Amy Gardner yes. What you proposed is exactly what I would do. In fact you can even get a remote thermometer and if it drops too far switch off a fan or even both.

The Amazonians have a temperature controller that you can set. So say you have 2 small extract fans and 1 small intake. You can set 1 exhaust to come on at 75 and the intake at 78 and the second exhaust at 80. Likewise they should switch off when the temp drops below said degree. Or there's a way to program what I'm explaining.

And switching the direction of airflow in the summer and winter months is also exactly what I would do.

You don't want your roots hot. Warm is okay. Cold isn't great but at night is okay as long as your not too cold.

My suggestion would be putting a 3 to 5 gallon bucket of water in the tent. Spray paint it black and since water retains heat it can help keep the space warm. Even a small water heater in the bucket timed to come on once every other ghour for half an hour or so.

Love me some Dabs ! It's like he went to the University of Canna !

Great thanks Dabber :thumb: - yeah when I say keep the roots warm, I mean not freezing! Won’t be heating them exactly just trying to keep them above 16C :)

I’d been planning to wire the fans to voltage switchable power packs and turn them down that way. I can see though how a device like you describe would be a good move. I’ll check it out. Hope it’s not too spendy...

This is why the turbo-closet was born, to cope with low ambient temps and minimal interior heat load. I recycle scrubbed air near plant level. Only venting a small ratio of total air volume moved. As temps increase fan speed increases and air changeover accelerates. Im still waiting on installing humidity controls till I finalize the setup but so far all is well in it's current configuration.
