All Aboard - Dabber Blooms Buds In The Tub Of Love

Thanks Dabber! I knew this day was going to come when I bought the light. Where it shines it kicks ass, but that is only half of the tent. I did not realize I was going to fill the tent so fast on this grow, I thought it was going to be a couple more grows before I got where I am. Once again, poor planning. I’ll PM you with some questions after I do some research into what I should do as far as a possible build. Suggestions for type and brand from all you in THE Light Department thread? Research you couldn’ Go without would be appreciated too. Thanks agian Dabbs! I swore I’d never get this far in but damn you canna-geeks and your science! You sucked me right in!
 
Just like the example of 4) 300 watt burples the more boards the better coverage. My nine 120qb boards are advertised as veg boards. I'm only running them at really 80% (480 watts instead of 600 and could push them to 700) of what they can output because my driver isn't big enough. But using a meter I have them set up to get the max coverage and penetration with the usable watts that I have. It looks weird looking at my light so close to my canopy but it works. At least I hope it does. That's why I'm doing this grow with nothing but them instead of putting them under my 260 kits.

We really need to stop comparing the boards with the blurples using “watts.” Watts is is wholly useless figure. Ppfd tells me my coverage and penetration and milliamps tells me how hard my driver is working to give me the necessary ppfd.

Watts really only come into the equation outside the grow room. How much energy did said lighting take to produce.

One question on @Ripe1 predicament...would RIder's Samsung strips be of any help? A build of 3 F-Series Gen3 100W FB24B double row led strip 3500K would cost under $300 including the Mean Well HLG-320H-48A 320W LED driver.
 
@LB07 unjust ordered 10. The strips are legitttt!!! I mean Samsung makes the diodes after all Right? And that's 75 cents a watt. I mean whaaaaa!!!

Which brings me to my next point. Penny is correct. Watts really don't matter for saying what a light can do by itself. But ppfd/ watt is what tells you what that light can supply per dollar.

That a what I'm interested in. How much usable light output I get per dollar I spend to run it. May be a bit noonish, but power isn't cheap in Alaska!

Main point is I miss furci too. Hope he's doing well! I'm sure he's busy with real life. He sounds like he's a pretty prominent member of the community.

No shit! I wasn't even interested in building my own light, but after reading this adventure, and hearing how happy everybody is with them, I can't help being interested. They pulled my leg into the market. I need to go back further and find where Dabber started getting into it so I can get a feel for the whole process. Do you know about where that was in your old journal Dabber?

Hmmm wayyyyyyyy back in October maybe? I bought 2 of the 120s. And just wired the driver to it and hung the driver from the curtain rod. No frame, just a little baby board with dinky chain link. I wired one for the veg space and the other went between arctics vipar and my higrow. (Chineese blurples).

Penny was how I heard about these things. And rich (used to be bedroom farmer) too I think? I heard the words 2 grams per watt (there's that word penny hates again) and I was sold. Again I could
run a 600 watt mh hps but that would cause an outrageous power bill for me. And even worse it would be a single light point. I will be running 370 to 380 watts and expecting similar yields. I have no clue, we will see.

Sorry I know that didn't really answer your question.... but it would be like a third of the way through my other journal.
 
No, that's perfect. I can go track it down with that. I am following a couple of Penny's grow's, well, the other one was harvested but I am burning the candle at both ends on that journal. I have a few like that. Oh yeah! Like your last one. I should be close to 1/3 on that one so I'll see it soon anyways. Cool!
