which is gumby method, the method alex used or the coin in the jar method,

i think i like this water method best but i keep reading dry method produces more hash but at a slightly lower quality
 
yep i think thats the method im going to use, if i get chance tomorrow ill take some pics and show you all the trim and how much hash i get, not sure on the best method to press it as id live it pressed so the hot water method sounds about the best, i dont have a press, i got a huge vice but id need to make something or even use plastic wrapped in wet newspaper and heated up, ive read you can use an iron and the wrapper of a cig packet covered in wet newspaper to press it into a small block,
i guess it depends how much trichs i get, i got a film case full of trichs out of my grinder and a small tub of stuff i scraped off my harvesting clipper type things, not even tried it yet, saving it for a rainy day,

the mesh in my grinder is not very fine though so its got a green colour to it, ill try and pick up some coffee filters tomorrow, i got plenty of jars i can use so might give it a go tomorrow if i get back in time, ill stick my trim in a bin bag and stuff it in the freezer in the morning, well i say morning its 04:20 and i still not slept,

time to roll me another fat one and try and get some sleep, its hot here but thunder storm just started so a bit cooler tonight so might actually get a few hours sleep before it gets to hot again in the morning,
 
The amount and quality you get with bubble bags or silk screens depends on the size of the hole on the bag/screen and if you're using several, the should taper to smaller holes the further down the stack they are. If you use an 80 or 120/140 micron mesh/screen/bag, you'll end up with a smaller yield of purest quality, if you use a 200 or bigger, you'll end up with a bigger yield, but lower quality.

My mobile dispensary guy uses the bags with dry ice and he uses the small holes first and just goes as long as the kief is blonde, as soon as it starts getting green, he tosses it into the a bigger holed bag and shakes more, which is greener and is used by a few of us who cook as "food grade kief".

I'll honestly go both routes myself, bubble bag and gumby... just remember with the gumby stuff (or bubble bags) if you don't decarb before you feeze and make hash, you can use the plant matter again after decarbing. Potency will be lower by volume, but it's still useful. If you'd normally use 1oz to 1lb of butter, use 3 or 4 oz of hash material and you'll end up with a good pound of butter still, from something you'd have thrown away otherwise.

btw, I'm kind of fixated on extracts and cooking, alternatives to the more normal smoking and vaping, so I delve into all of that and ask eveyone I know who does it about their processes, pros/cons, etc.

Thanks for the hash doc. Please keep it coming, this sounds prefect for me - easy, no chems involved and end result wont get spoiled in a month like butter.
Do you think this is more effective, or butter keeps more of th resin?
 
Hey guys this is working well so far. I think I should of maybe filtered the stuff again now it's on the foil drying it does have a green look to it. I can see the golden shimmering of the resin thc in the mix and I no it does darken as it drys. If its not the strongest hash I don't mind :) the quantity is looking superb

Bubble bags I think take out all the greenery left buy conventional strainers and leave a pure product. Less yield but out of this world hash.
Growing up all we had here was hash bars. The dealers bought 9-bars (9oz bars) and sold it for £7.50 per 16th. That's how I used to buy it. Back then I never realised the work involved getting to the product. 9 bars are all but gone were we are now.


Invi sir :) I have no idea what keeps more resin. I no hash smokes good and I prefer to smoke than eat to get baked lol. I like to smoke and then eat :) I'm hoping this creamy green brown slop will be smokable tonight :)

Hey don p yea iv looked at the silk screen method too I think I seen a vid of a guy using that method on a larger scale with dry ice in the jar and you should of seen the results... Amazing... He did use 2 oz of pop corn though
 
Mash hash wow been YEARS since I seen that lol haha now I know how you turkeys make that stuff lol how did sweat curing your buds in jars turn out? I got lost in posts waaaaaaay back lol reps to you!

Thank you wild rosé. The cure is going good the buds seem to taste better and better every day. All dryed to just the level I like.
I'm a bit unsure as to when I should stop burping my jars though. I am doing this 2-3 times a day to every jar.

If it is dry to your taste it is burped enough unless it is still sweating a bit. Frick I am sad today Alex , my 95% removal of leaves experiment made some mildew on my Deep Chunkolate I hate mildew smell and especially taste and I know it will only get worse... Dilemma :(
 
Hey WildRosebud, doesn't baking soda, disolved in water with a drop of soap, sprayed on to plants kill mildew? or just PM ?

Alex, can't wait to hear how that has turns out... I haven't thought about those bricks too often since I lived back home in New Orleans, lol.

It's like dry now. Not baked dry to look at but it's dry if u no what I mean
Weight is 2.8g off I think it was 103g of trim there a outs so forget about the 3G lol and that gives me a 2.8% trim to hash ratio

I no that's pretty crappy as some ppl go on 10-15% but it was a first try and I'm mega happy with it. Oh it's a circle now nota square :)

Rose bud.... Runes method must be worth reading into :)
