Alafornia's 1st Time Multistrain Medical Grow

Hi @Tangled ! :welcome:
Yep, Al is a natural, just look at those incredibly happy looking plants!
You are just going to have to go on a quest to find the perfect variety for you, and then over time that will change and you will need to find another one. It's a tough job keeping up with all the different varieties that are out there, but someone has to do it. Get him to show you some lemon flavors and some berries and a chocolate flavor strain or two. For me the taste and smell are as much of the adventure as the high.
I have noticed that the guys around me really don't care what it tastes like as long as it gets them stoned and I like to think that my aunt and I bring a certain refinement into this experience that the guys would simply miss while they roll up another joint using roaches and pipe scraps and any other nasty residue they think will get them off. They all sit around huffing and puffing and coughing while they exclaim, "good shit, man..." ... it cracks me up!
So nice to see you on here, and with your own account! I can't wait to hear more about how you both have changed going into this incredible experience that you never would have imagined going into. I find it fascinating to see how relationships are changing here, just as Missouri is changing over to a legalized medical model. and how the various worlds I play in are beginning to merge. For years I have led a double life, working within the drug industry and in private life immersed in a life around public service people, first responders and emergency management, while also a clandestine grower. I am finding that even as it is now becoming legal to do this thing, attitudes are still what they are, and certain friends can never know what it is that I have become. I am sure that you both have friends who would shun you if they knew... this is the world we now live in. How are you handling this leap into this new life?
Yes, I know some of those holier than thou folks. Alabama, my home state, has an abundance. None of my true friends have been bothered by it in the least, even a devout Christian that would never touch it. My family has been very supportive too. My mom is just happy it’s helping my son so much. That stuff is a miracle. It’s a shame there’s such a stigma. There are so many people that could be helped.

Howdy Tangled, nice to see couples on here! Especially when they get along :).
I do have a memory of Van Stank posting about putting a layer of his soil in the bottom half of his solo cups. Can’t remember if he actually did it or was just contemplating it.
He did last time he took us from the seedling stage.
Looking good Al! I’m on the side of yes! Bring her on! Would love to have her on as well!
Was also going to say, your plants are getting pretty big, if your going to top a couple, might want to get it before they have too many internodes, as the more internodes, the bushier of a plant, making it more top heavy, which there’s ways to help battle that problem, but just making conversation I guess lol
I find the decision of when to top related most to how long you are willing to veg. When you top a plant, the goal is to allow time for the lower growth to catch up to the the upper, which is kept flat to both prevent it from always being taller and to promote growth of the inner bud sites. If you have time, you can top taller though it will take a bit longer for the lower growth to catch up.
when we got closer we both smelled that tell-tale smell. I even checked her for flowers. None. I haven't tested all of them.
I have 3" tall clones that stink up the room! Different types of trichomes (with terpenes) abound on the leaves and stems, which is why I use every part of the plant and roots for something.

Yeah, I was wondering when that was coming!

One more thought. Feel free to take the lowest branches. When you take lower growth of a plant in veg it encourages the plant to put out more growth on top (where we usually want it). Many growers will strip their plants of leaves in veg and then turn around a week later and say, "looks like I never touched it!" That's because the plant knows how many leaves it needs and grows more. We can use that to our advantage.

My tent is 78" tall. If I want my plants five feet tall or less then what is a good strategy for me with topping and LST as far as when to do it and how? At what height? The casters sit a few inches off the floor and then the pots will be another 10-12". That puts the plants at about 4-4-1/2 feet tall.

I am planning a larger tent for flower but the height would not change much. The current will be the veg tent. I'll just have more room for outward growth.

I just bought some lemon auto feminised from seedsman. Ive been on a mission for some lemon and now i cant wait til they get here.

My thought is: the lower you top, the wider your plants need to be to get the highest number of bud sites, because all growth will come from just the few nodes you leave below your topping. If you top higher, more of your growth can be vertical as there are more nodes to allow to grow up.

That makes if more of a spacing issue than anything.

So with stretch considered, should I go to 3 to 3-1/2 feet plant height before topping? Too tall? Too short?

This is beginning to sound like something from Dr Seuss' The Big Brag!

I was just picturing the dog farting and I say what's that and she doesn't hear anything then the smell hits and she says what's that and I say I don't smell anything. I get the better end of that deal. lol

From what I have gathered most plants tend to double even triple in height thats why I suggested you start training now plus you also dont want to wait until the stems stiffen up cause then your gonna have a hard time bending her over. Damn that doesnt even sound right! You know what I mean. Also if you bend her over the bud zones will spread across the top and you will get a better yield. I dont think if you bend her over you have to top just clear some leaves so light can hit "BUD ZONES".

BR, I wish I could laugh, like, and love the same post because I do. Hahaha!

Shes been sick for a bit now but shes walking on all fours now before she would lift her rt front paw and limp so some progress but damn the meds are expensive over here so I get them in tijuana for like 1/5 the price. Vet bills were $1000. I was like wow gues im not getting any new toys for a few months.

Way too tall to top! I meant the difference between 6" tall and more like 14-18"! You need to consider stretch as well. If bending is more your style, check my thread on LST here:

Works on photo period plants as well, but that doesn't mean they can't get big! Here is a photo period when I started training:

Here it is now, never having been topped:

So sorry to hear about your dog. I hope she recovers soon BR. Also, where in SoCal are you? Repping Los Angeles here.
