Akisunni Indoor Cold & Hot Grow Zones

After much indecision, I took action. I have cut down my first lifecycle plant, and have harvested my first bud. Today is a day I will remember for the rest of my life. So, lets get to the pictures.

I figured I might as well kick off the next round of learn with my first harvest. Here she is snipped.

Here she is with a little raw trimming taken care of. The Bud is early, and I accept that. I will definately let the Big Girl and Stinky to go full term. However, I like the idea of plugging in a fully sized Clone plant into a Flower zone at the Start of each month. Going forward I will have a fresh crop of medicine every month some time around the 15th or so going forward.

Thank you gentlemen,

It is a pleasure to know I have completed one grow, with something to show for it. If I save $100 in bud burn rate, it paid for itself, accessories needed for its existence, and bought me time until my larger plants are ready to harvest in January. My expectation is that they put my grow costs in the black, with a perpetual grow in process now.

I also like the idea of harvesting a new plant or two every month, on average. I need to change flavors regularly or I quickly experience buzz burn out from smoking the same regularly.

Sorry I just saw this journal. This was awesome! I have been playing around in my head how I could monitor my grow remotely and you hit the nail on the head! I'll definitely be looking for more of your work.

Thank you for the kind words. I dug out my first soil moisture sensor unit today, and rebuilt it, ie the unit before the API worked. Oddly, I think I kind of prefer it over streaming net. Yes, I have both working concurrently. Here is why.

IMG_245116.JPG

While I intentionally angled the camera in this image so its not trying to promote my company design, (products are only in beta, I am not actively selling tech yet). It does allow me to monitor soil conditions every time I check on the plant by hand, by just switching on the power. Battery should last months to years at this rate of usage.

The digital streaming version works great, but there is a metric asston more more technology and power needs to generate a soil moisture reading(s), and then to send that time stamped data to a web accessible server nearby to push the data via API to a DB, where it can be pulled back down on demand via a web server call, to generate a dynamic updating chart in real time.

There is something nice about turning on or off the power and getting your result and moving to next plant.

That is another point. The portable design allows you to use one unit to test the soil conditions on all of your plants. It uses the bottom 1 inch of its probes for readings, so you can decide "where" in the pot you want your readings to be generated. I am pondering open sourcing the code for the basic hand held unit. DYI types could buy the parts and build their own for about $100 each in open source hardware and parts...

Gratz on ur first harvest! Next time will be even better with all the experience you got from your first run.:cheertwo::bravo::welldone:

Not sure if you saw the post a page ago or so, but have offered to share with you design specs, if you have any Q's DM me here.

Peace,

Aki

Congrats on your harvest! :goodjob:

I think it's awesome you plan to go OS, too. FOSS, FTW. :)

Thank you Profesor x,

I was just adjusting the lighting in the small hidden veg space. Its only 4 cubic feet. 1ft wide, 2ft tall, 2ft deep. The latest lighting is...

2 x 23 watt and 1 x 13 watt in 6500 and 4 x 9 watt 2700. Its only 95 real watts of CFL, but its doing the job nicely. The bagseed has started to grow at a nice rate, it will veg with the two healthy clones for a while in there. I also picked up a new clone from the dispensary. Its a Cherry Bomb clone. I am going to veg it for about a week including a replanting and then put it into the 36/12 space where the Blue Maui was.

I was underwelmed by what was offered during my visit to the dispensary, so will return in a week or two and see what they are offering then. I am looking forward to getting a perpetual grow with 2 different plants per month available for harvesting, about 2 weeks apart.

that is a great idea, i want to set up a bigger tent for flowering and use the one I'm growing in right now as a perpetual veg tent for two mother plants, take cuttings and place them in the flowering chamber, kind of the same reasons, to harvest regularly, but i don't have another room available in my house at the moment lol

great job friend, will follow this journal closely !

Update with Bud Porn...

First harvested bud weighs 1/2 oz after 5 days. It cost $15 and was put outside in Oct and only given any love at all in its last two weeks or so. The pretaste is really nice. not harsh at all. having issues drying it out. We have had inches of rain in the last 4 days. Not sure if the bud isnt getting wetter.

Some pictures of the Stinky Pinky, It has a hidden friend "Cherry Bomb" clone soaking up some extra rays during same light cycle times, when its not in here, I have it in the little hidden veg space.

And here are some of Big Girl, who is now around 34 days of flower. She is building a lot of nice mini cola buds. I expect that due to her size, and healthy factor, I will probably be going past the normal harvest date with her. She shows no sign of her crop draining her of resources yet.

This is a blue clone I gave up for dead, and tossed in here. If it lives, great, if not, oh well.

Thanks Profesor X, I agree they received to much N when I watered them with a new combo. I was pondering flushing it today, your opinion helps. Should I just push 1 gal of fresh water through it, or remove it to a location where I can push serious volumes of water?

I forgot to include images from the Desk Veg Space... These were just taken. The two clones are really happy, the bag seed has almost caught up to them, while the new Cherry Bomb in back gets in some serious veg time before it moves to the 36/12 space in the coming days to week. I might give it another week in the office before it moves to flowering space.

and the image taken by the camera inside the grow space, which I really like. It reminds me of art.

Oh, and the Veg space now has the following lighting:

4 x 23 watts 6500
1 x 13 watt 6500
2 x 9 watt 2700

I removed two of the 9 watt 2700's and replaced with 23 watt 6500's. There appeared to be to much red shift lighting. The plants were starting to stretch more then I wanted. The extra watts in 6500 will hopefully slowdown stretch and expand on leaf growth.

i would flush them with two or three times the volume of your grow medium, for example if you have a 8gal pot, you should flush with at least 16 gallons of ph'd water
they're looking good i can't wait to see your harvest! :circle-of-love:

She has been moved to the bathroom, where she is currently taking a warm bath with lots draining time between water events. From a water perspective, she will be good for a few days. How many days should I let her stay in the flushed staged, before returning to giving her new nutrients?

Thank you for the input...
