Hey guys,

I have 3 Northern Lights Autos from CKS which are at Day 31 above ground. Some of the fan leaves are getting massive and blocking too much light.

What are your thoughts on defol? I had read that defoliation of autos is bad, but it's going really affect the light my buds are getting.

I wouldn't defoliate. You can tie the big fan leaves down to the stem with pipe cleaners or twist ties. You can also ponytail them for up to 9 hours a day.

I decided to defoliate, and wow they have taken well to it. All 3 plants are really perky, and reaching for the light. Fingers crossed.

Good job now just let them relax for a couple of days and see where you are. You must have done it perfectly

They look so bare but I can still see the growth from the beginning of flower phase. Every limb is pointed up, every leaf alive and sturdy. I love seeing every bud site have tons of light, and seeing the reach for more, I feel much better about my choice now.

Yes. I'm growing auto Afghan Mass in a small cabinet. First indoor grow. I topped mine at the 5th node. Seems to be doing well.
