Afgoo - First Time Seed Grow

ok everybody,

so i did the transplant on A1 yesterday evening before i took off to the fireworks show!!! when i got home this morning, she was fast asleep!!! so i take it that she took just fine, especially afteri woke up this morning and she had her leaves, out, wide, and full!!!

see all those roots!!! well its i have to go out and make sure they dont need water!!! its a hot 1 out there today!!!

:peacetwo:

:bravo: Nice job Bro! Nice root ball and healthy looking to boot!!! Look forward to this weekends update pics. She should be really taking off on you then!

:peacetwo:

thank you everybody,

Mac, yea she already did!!! already got new growth popping out of the laterals and they are all starting to go into asymmetrical branching!!! well all except for the new lats of course!!! but anyways, the pistols that showing she is a girl are starting to stand out a lot better now, i really dont have to look for them anymore, they stand out now!!!

Qiou, whats good man!!! thanx for those kind words, i thought so myself when i saw them all white!!! i was totally happy!!!

OMM, thanx, i thought for sure that was root bound, i have never had so many roots showing during a transplant, it tripped me out, thats why i had to have my wifey get the camera!!! i wanted shots of that for sure!!! nice addition to my journals, here and the personal ones!!!

No worries all!!! the personal journals just have what i type here!!! just copy and paste!!! sometimes im out and about and i have my laptop wit me and i think up things and i note em... then when i get home or to internet location, i share my thoughts with you all!!!

Aston,

Forget the 5-8 gallon transplant, use a plastic garbage can.
When it is flowering time, just use a hand cart and wheel it into your closet :)

Nahh.. You spray your plants during the veg state with neem oil and the bugs hate it. But it is all your preference. I would bring mine in during flowering if I had them in a moveable medium. Nothing like the safety and security of your own home during the flowering stage. Othertimes we have no choice when you feel the plants have been spotted by a neighbor or other security threats..

Special Newsflash !!!

New Terrifying Prehistoric Gnat species invade Aston's Cannabis Crop... :thedoubletake:

lol nah my man, i aint got them in my crops, they in my house!!! summer here sucks!!! they try to get in more than stay outside!!! and wit 2 wee ones runnin in and out the door, its an uphill battle til the end of summer!!!

UPDATE!!!

well after the transplant, Afgoo 1 has now taken home to her new home, settin her roots right on in the new soil, and showing out all new growth, and as i mentioned already, she has started putting out asymmetrical branches, and now has 3 pistoling locations, so she has now confirmed that she is a she she, and not a he she, at this point!!! we'll just have to see what happens at flowering!!! cant wait!!! she is now inches tall!!!

now brings me to my newest question... she is now 72 days old, and i am pretty sure she is not a auto, so will she wait to flower til nature says, oh guess what its time to be a woman now, or will she start to flower on her own??? im guessing that she will go with nature and continue to veg til nature says otherwise, i just want to confirm my theory is correct, cus according to the sunrise and sunset calendar that i found online, it shows that i am getting 14 hours and 20 minutes of light today!!! thats here in my city, on this day 7/7/11... i remember reading that a plant will continue veggin til it is set into flower at 12/12 or 14/10, so im kinda worried about that!!!

now on to Afgoo 2, i figure by tomorrow i will know her true sex, i see a little pod growth on the newest node, just needs the lateral branch to grow out a little bit more and it will either show the pistol or it'll drop... and it it drops, i will be down to Afgoo 1!!!

yesterday was weird, we actually got rain, it was nice, the girls loved it!!! i thought about bringing them in under the shelter so they wouldnt get hit by the water, but decided not to, cus its nature!!! not to mention they got watered by nature!!! lol but i still needed to water them today!!! it rained for about a half an hour, then drizzled for another 2, they were lovin playing in the rain!!! lol

well when A2 pops out her sex, i will have the photos up!!! either the pull or the hurray!!!! lol

I don't know that strain to well, I know of some strains that will show preflowers and pistols once they get sexually mature but will not flower until you force them. Now if you continually see new flowering growth then ya know its in full flower. So I guess just keep an eye on your girl there my friend. Depending on where your located they should start to show flowers end of this month if not august. At least I know that around when I'm expecting to start checking mine. But plants have a mind of their own so some might flower way before others.

Not sure where Banning Ca is, but I can say that I am getting about 14 hours of light I believe here in the South Bay. I used to think that the outdoor light photo period started at the point where the sun actually hit the plant. I found out that wasn't true and that basically it is when the sky starts to turn blue, or when you begin getting indirect light. Well something like that anyway. My plant that had started flowering early had the actual sun reach it at about 10:30am and got dark about 8:30pm which is 10 hours. But I know it is getting more than that since it has reverted to veg. My conclusion was that I planted to early on 4/20 when the weather was overcast and the plant thought it was getting less light. Now if you figure the sky starts to get blue at around 6am (indirect light) and sun goes down (darkness) at about 8:30pm then it is getting about 14.5 hours a day. This would explain why it has reverted to veg.

So to answer your question, I think your plant will flower when the days get shorter and mother nature casts 12 hours or lower of light on your lady. Dekon's prediction sounds about right, depending on the strains genetics it should start flowering in August. Seeing that most outdoor grows get harvested in September/October. Sativas usually toward the later October and sometimes into November I have read.

I will let you know when mine starts flowering.. I have 2 Indicas and 1 Sativa.

Banning is 26 minutes west of Palm Springs, and 30 minutes East of Riverside!!!
yea like i said i got the calendar that shows me everyday for the next 4 months when the sun rises and sets, and how much actual daylight is out, it shows that here in banning ca, we will get 12/12 on september 27th so i dont know what to think, it starts getting colder here around mid to late october, so i hope it will be done before then!!!

hey man stuffs looking great just transplanted my afgoo plant into a pot and changed its location because I don't think it was getting enough light at the spot it was in...all's looking great how many days has it been since the start? still watching this journal closely

whats good Cmitch,
as far as i have seen, as long as they get at least 5 hours of direct sunlight you'll be fine, i get about 7 hours of direct sunlight on them, 8.5 if i move them to get it all day. In the morning i get up and set the plants to get the earliest light they can receive, and then as the day goes on and the sun gets lower, i move them back over to their dark spot, and they recieve the rest of the sunlight that they can get!!! glad to know your still with us!!! feel free to ask any questions, i get back to all as quick as internetingly posible lol!!! you gonna start a journal for your lady???

:peacetwo:

Hey Aston,

That calendar site is awesome.
I introduced it to my instructor in my weekly growing class that I attend.
He said he would share it with the class this week :) . The calendar shows my 12 hour day starting on the first of September. So it looks like mine will flower first... Neener Neener Neener :yahoo: :slide: <Just kidding my friend>

My sole survivor clone was introduced to the great outdoors on July 4th.
Since it's been 90 here I've been keeping it in the shade. Today I put it in the direct sun for about 2 hours. After that it started to wilt a bit so I put it back in the shade. Since the root development on it was slow and faint I think it will take a few weeks to start adapting and growing. I'll keep you updated on it. I am hoping to get some decent veg growth in and then probably set it indoors under a couple 48 inch fluorescent grow lights. Then when it hits about 2 feet or so I will cut it over to 12x12.

Well gotta go do some more paintin man...
Talk to you later.

:peace:

lol whats good man,
Im glad you made use of that and didnt just keep it to yourself!!! thats great that you shared the word!!! so yea i will be watching you flower before me, but i will have smoke longer that you!!! ha!!! i knew i would win on that somewhere!!! LOL, you go have fun with that painting man, cant be fun in this heat!!! but then again i noticed that you posted at 7 so your a smart man, wait til it cools down!!! careful with that clone!!! its not a total failure if it doesnt make it though!!! look at the bright side, you found ways that dont work!!! just dont do what you did!!! well i hope it stays up!!! keep the strain going!!!

@ everybody else,
ok so i noticed that in my update that i didnt type in the heights, i forgot to type in the digits!!! lol anyways, as they stand now, afgoo 1, soil to top, 14 1/2 inches, and on Afgoo 2, soil to top 10 1/4 inches!!! theyre just getting so big!!! now also, something that i kept from everybody, after doing some research, i decided to go ahead and plant another seed!!! except, its not afgoo, it is 1 of my 4 GDP seeds, I set it into germination on the 4th of july, and the next day it was cracked!!! so i set it in soil, on the 6th i checked on it and you could see that there was a purple stem coming out of the soil, so i put it outside, just like mother nature first did the first cannabis plant!!! none of that start indoors crap!!! i feel that an outdoor plant was the way man found this plant, it cant hurt it to be outside when it starts, i did it with my afgoo's and you see the results!!! so being as how that is my feeling on it, i set out the seed to start seeing light right away!!! now i am still new to the cannabis growing, but it just seems like common sense to me, a little worried about the timing now after seeing the lighting schedule for outside, GDP has to be grown up by September 27th, that is when my light outside goes to 12 hour light!!!... lol anyways, dont know if i want to start another journal, or just start talking about it here!!! i mean its going to be out there with them, so i figure i might as well!!! but i dont know??? do you all want to follow another journal??? or just read about it here??? your decision guys!!! and gals (namingly sqwheels)... now another question, will the plant start flower like at 12 hrs and 30 mins or 12 hrs and 20 mins, or will it only start at 12 hrs??? just a mind boggler on that for me??? i have never seen a plant flower outdoors, so its all new for me, and every journal i see they dont really get full into detail like i am trying to find!!! or at least answer what i am looking for!!!

:peacetwo:

Hey Aston,

I think its fine to just add the new one to this thread, since they will all finish around the same time.
About the start of flowering, from what I remember when I grew outside, It was a slow change. I didn't have a chart that told me what day was the first of 12/12. If I had to guess I would say it may start a little sooner than the first day of 12/12. Its not like that day you will notice anything different from the day before. For me it was very slow happening. So you could start noticing pistols here and there a few weeks before the actual day of 12/12. Keep up the good work!;)

haha astonr was tryin to keep that little gdp all to himself... lol

Well dude if you don't wanna start a new journal then just link us some pictures every now and again. This is one I don't have a journal on right now... it's a Kannabia Big Band at day of picture it was bout 31-32 days old from seed. Vegged it for 28 days inside before I put her out.

I know Mr. Smith has the fully grown version in this months POTM and NOTM comp. So I'm super curious to see how mine turns out :)

Me Too My Friend

I think you'll be fine on your lighting. No problem. These girls will do everything in their power to bloom for you. They want to continue their species. I've had grows when the sun did not shine much at all. Certain times of the year we have VOG (volcanic ash) weeks on end and never see the sun. :)
