Ace Panama, Groot, In High Brix

If you have a food dehydrator you can dry those buds, just ask @SweetSue .
If I recall correctly she was using it in the Dr. Ziggy low and slow thread.

I use the dehydrator when I need those buds ready to go in three days. In my experience they’re every bit as effective as buds dried other ways.

Low and slo is special. Haven’t found anything that beats low and slo for subtleties.

Now the cobatron is on a whole other plane of wonder. Lol! JustMeds is kickin’ ass with that box. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Morning gang, update on Groot this morning. So her last feeding was a GI Drench but since she’d losing so many lower fans I decided today to give her a TP Drench to maybe help wirh that... she doesn’t have that much longer but if she loses many more fans there won’t be many to apply the foliars to. Ya know... since the top leaves are burnt up and all... so first pic is of some dying lower fans then some bud shots!

Thanks for looking everyone! I hope you are all doing well today!
Well... I totally forgot to put the drench amount and whatnot on my last update. Sorry about that gang...
7/21/18 Groot received TP Drench (10ml+Tea 1.0ml) in 1.5gal water.
Was also sprayed with Brix foliar (2ml+water 2oz) using that small bottle I posted the other day.

Also wanted to mention I owe an apology to Nirvana seeds... though their genetics may not be the best on some strains I believe I myself have something wrong in my grow area that is allowing all that I grow to develop seeds... not good useable seeds either, but tiny worthless, almost impossible to remove seeds (yes this include the Panama.) It has to be that damn tent... ever since I started growing in that thing I have had this issue (best I can figure anyway.) Unfortunately it just dawned on me that when I grew in that veg cabinet only I never had that issue. So IDK what I am going to do yet...

What I dont get is that the tent sits inside a closet, the closet is mostly dark except a little light from one of the humidifiers that stays on all night... The only vent thats open is the one against the back wall to prevent the light getting in. If I go in at lights off, and stick my head in the tent, wait for a few... it just looks pitch back in there, no light to be seen anywhere. I guess the question is... how little light can their be and still cause herm issues? And shouldn't I see some nanners on these damn plants if they are doing this? Also, if they were light stressed from light leaks wouldn't that show in the growth pattern to the leaves as well?

Gang, I absolutely need to get to the bottom of this. I cant keep growing shit like this ya know...

Heya Jerm... And Green am... I just thought I would comment on the Light method... I did the very same last year with several strains in bags over lights... Worked well with better than average bud finish... I also sprayed bag down to a little damp on the outside for a couple of days... It is however varied on time based on a few differences.. Rh in the area, heat off the lights ( I was using Flouros ) and overall density of the buds to mention a few... I found it somewhat annoying as it is a babysitting way rather than the low and slow frig method... Just my pocket change on the matter bro...

With Summer and the temps and humidity, my door to my flower room wasn't sealing all the way. It was creating just a bit of light to leak in the the bottom of the jam. Very minimal, but I still had half my plants start to throw reveg leaves on the bud tips before I found the problem. It would take me a minute or two sitting in the room with the lights off before I could even see anything. We don't use any far red light like naturally occurs outside, so a very small leak can do it.

I will say, that I've never covered the orange switch on my timer up till then and never had issues before from the little that puts off. It was the door leak that was doing it. A sliver about as bright as you'd see from the moon on an overcast night.

Nanners can hide in many places. Check any growth close to the stalk. they like to hid right up against it behind female flowers. If you really cannot find any evidence of nanners on the Panama, then I would have to wonder if maybe there was pollen in the tent still from a previous grow. It could have been laying idle and gotten stirred up after you moved around in the tent. After this round is finished I would wash your whole tent down just to be sure you have deactivated any pollen that may be in it. Make sure to get your lights and fans and anything else inside the grow area. Even the closet it is in should be washed down too just in case it is getting pulled in through your intake. Also one of the issues with a lot of tents is that they have pin hoels that allow light in. Whether they are in the walls or along the zi[ppers it can cause you issues. Kitchenhawk has duct tape covering a lot of his tent to help eliminate light leaks. I need to do a better job of eliminating them as well. I really just want to build rooms. Some day i just might.

Awesome, so one option could be to add some far red to help them deal with the light leaks... that sounds good and an easy way to help with this issue. Thank you Morglie!

ill check her when I get home again and see if I can find any nanners...
I do make it a practice to spray and clean my tent with a mild bleach solution between each grow. But I haven’t cleaned the fans or the closet... I’ll be sure to do that after she’s done. It’s just so weird that pretty much all the seeds are so damn tiny like they didn’t herm till very late into flower. The Panama seeds I’ve gotten were anywhere between tiny and half size... sucks man... really was hoping I’d be past this with this grow. Idk why I thought it was just the genetics of the last grows... stupid of me to assume. I thought I had all light leaks fixed long ago. Thanks Ween!

Sometimes nanners form late in flower as the plants last ditch effort to carry on the line. It can also happen if the plants run too long. I doubt you are running the Panama too long though so that is not it. It could still be a genetic thing. A lot of long flowering sativas are nearly impossible to run without herming. I am not sure if the Panama is like that as i have not run it mysel. I do recall Graytail saying his purple Panama self pollenated and he ended up running one of the seeds and got another purple pheno from it. If you are worried about the light on your humidifier (I believe thats what you mentioned) then just cover it with tape. That will eliminate that light source at least!

Well I guess I coulda been running some of those indica leaning hybrids too long... but like you said I doubt that’s the issue with Groot.

Both my humidifiers are outside the tent... the light is blue if that makes any difference. Doesn’t seem bright enough to make its way into the tent but I suppose it could. I’ll probably just make a flap that will lay over it, it’s actually the digital display that’s blue and I need that to adjust them.

Could cover the lights on power cords and any additional equipment in the tent. I've positioned my tent so the vents are facing a wall and only a half inch gap for air flow. Even if there is light coming under my closet door it won't shine through the vents.

Hey there KB, yes sir only lights in the tent is on the power strip and that was covered before I put it in there. I too have the vent facing a wall about 1/2”-1” gap for air... other two are closed. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated! Thanks killer!

So the next step would be to remove the plants and get inside the tent yourself zip it up during dark period and look for light lol

Any suggestions on a specific spectrum? I’d like to source locally if possible. So something I could get at batteries and bulbs + or big box stores...
I'm not certain what spectrum you need. I've never researched it personally. If I remember correctly @kelticBlue put some in. I'll ask in his thread.

Just a thought, anyone in your area growing near by ? Maybe its coming from outside ?

EDIT Not sure if its been considered, could there be pollen in the tent somewhere that keeps getting
recirculated somehow ? maybe in a carbon filter or something

That’s actually not a bad idea there KB, I think I’ll try that when I get home. I’ll have my wife zip me up... thanks for that!! I’ll report my finding. I’ll sit in there for a good 3-4 min let my eyes adjust and see what I see!

awesome, thank you... good ol Gazoo his here too so he may be able to shed some light on the spectrum I need.

Hey Gazoo! I’m not sure, I bet there’s someone around here growing outside... not sure how their plants would handle the 100+ heat here but it’s possible for sure. Now I’m wondering how I’d even be able to Baird against that... even if I took a shower before I went in there is still a chance it in the house....

are you near any open areas maybe a wild patch thats use to the climate ? Pollen can travel a long way
I was thinking HEPA filter on intake ?

EDIT The Funky not viable seeds sound like degraded pollen ? Old pollen being recirculated from somewhere ?
I dont know just kicking around some ideas

So you’re thinking maybe a HEPA filter on the intake for my house ac? That could help... I honestly have no idea if there’s any wild patches around. It’s so dry here I don’t see how they could survive without help. But I’m sure they do in other parts of the world so why not here eh...
could be old pollen from a past hermmied grow, I clean my tent well but never even thought about the fans etc... luckily it’s easy to make pollen useless... just a bit of water does the trick. So I’ll unplug my fans and lights and spray them with water... them let them dry thoroughly before I use them again. Just a little water... not gonna soak em
