Acapulco Gold
Day 36 since flip.

The grow area is running normally.

They are still out drinking the Fuel D.OG but running a little behind in trichome development.

The grow environment is still very nice, thanks to the ac and de-humidifier.

The CO2 bucket is still bubbling, over a week now.

The plants are looking good and buds are developing nicely.

Acapulco Gold, Day 36 flower. Not much trichome development yet.

You've got more trichs at 36 days in than I had at the end of my recent DoSiDo Auto grow (since renamed DoSiDon't, lol). It ain't over 'till the fat trichome sings!

They will get triched up more for sure. Every strain is different. Here are a few previous grow trich pictures. Not sure if I started taking them at 36 days though. Usually later.

I believe the Acapulco Gold will end up with plenty of frost. Just a comparison with a couple of strains grown last year at about the same time of development, under the same conditions.

This has me wondering so I googled "metric cannabis trichome size" and got a plethora of scientific articles that are going to take some time to read but are really fascinating. Here's just one of the links:

Glandular trichome development

Thanks for the link. I read part of it. I think you would really need to look at many more strains and do your checks at 3 weeks flower and every week from then until harvest.
I really don't have the background for most of the science though. :hmmmm: :cheesygrinsmiley:

A lot of the science is outside my abilities as well, but I am very happy to see there is FINALLY some serious research into the mysteries of our sacred plant! :yummy:

The Panama strain I grew last year flowered and triched up slowly. I kept manipulating it in the screen long after it was flipped because it flowered so slowly and wasn't sticky at all for a long time. It seems that too much touching or brushing past the pistils will bruise them and cause them to turn color too early. I touched the Hawaii Maui Waui past the time I should have. Resulted in a lot of discolored pistils.

Acapulco Gold
Day 37 since flip.

The grow area is running normally.

New CO2 bucket this afternoon.

The plants are looking good. The flowering continues to progress. I noticed before but forgot to mention, that I'm seeing more yellow/green in the pistols on the tall plant on the left. The plant on the right has pistils of pure white.
There was a side by side picture yesterday where this is evident.

If I'm smelling anything at this point it's a piney smell. Very common weed smell at this stage. It rarely ends up being the dominant smell at harvest. I wouldn't mind though. I've always liked piney smelling weed.

Acapulco Gold
Day 38 since flip.

The grow room is running normally.

The plants are looking healthy and the buds are still progressing nicely.

The CO2 bucket is bubbling away.

Reservoir changes tomorrow for both grows.

Acapulco Gold
Day 39 since flip.

The grow area is running normally.

Reservoir change today. The recommended amounts of GH three part liquid nutes for 17 gallons in Mid Bloom. 60ml CalMag+ and 35ml KoolBloom (0-10-10) were added. PHed to 5.5-6.0 with PH down. The PH required no adjustment during the afternoon check.

The CO2 bucket is bubbling nicely.

The plants are still looking good and the buds are really looking good. I remembered to get a picture that captures a side by side of the two different phenos and the different colored pistils.

The buds are starting to tric up a little more and the smell is pleasant. Piney/citrusy at the moment.

Looking awesome , how much longer do they flower for? It’s definitely on my to try and grow list. I also have a few Colombian Gold beans to try out. CL🍀

Hey Cap'n. Barney's Farm says. 60-70 days. So, if they mean since they started showing, that puts them at 76 days at the longest. I started seeing signs of sex at 6 days after flip.
I would love to have a whole grow of Colombian Gold, that smelled and tasted like a bag of Colombian I got about 1976. I remember the smell and taste but not much about the buzz other than it was way better than the average weed we got.

Yeah I’m thinking maybe for my next grow Kwazulu, Colombian Gold, another Golden Tiger and Congolese. I think that would be pretty cool. I already have the Kwazulu, Colombian Gold and the Golden Tiger. CL🍀 :morenutes: :thumb:

That sounds like a good lineup. The only strain I've ever grown twice on the scrog was OG Kush. I am ready for something new each year. I keep looking at the success people are having with Apple Betty, so I think that one will make my list for next year. I may try that Colombian Gold too next year. Let's see what some of you guys do with it and how it smells and taste. That leaves me two more to pick for the four scrog grows. I need to pick either one or two great concentrate producers too.

I still have some ACE Panama Bangi Haze seed that are getting kinda old. I bought them before the Panama seed and changed my mind if favor of growing the Panama. I haven't made up my mind but the Panama wasn't the biggest rosin producer and that's a consideration.
I will probably grow a couple rosin strains though. I am studying up on making vape juice with rosin to fill carts for the vape pens. My neighbor gave me a store bought cart and vape pen. I am enjoying it. It does make me cough more than smoking though. :hmmmm:

Yeah a lot of people are raging about that Apple Betty but personally I’m not into Indica dominant strains. Maybe you could try a Malawi? I’ve seen a couple of grows that were very impressive. CL🍀

Yeah, Apple Betty is Indica dominant, but you wouldn't know it, watching the size and shape of it. You've seen @Chuckeye grow and that Indica has stayed with the rest of the Sativa strains
I like both types and I will try and throw in a classic strain each year, typically 2nd grow, after I've got my years smoke in the jars from the 1st pair of grows. The 2nd grows just gives me lots more options on what to do with it.

Acapulco Gold
Day 40 since flip.

The grow area is running normally.

The plants continue to look good and the buds are looking good. Things may change but I think the Acapulco Gold may take longer to finish than the Fuel D.OG. Just a feeling I'm getting from watching them both.

The PH is dropping a little more between top ups. Using a little PH up.
