Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - Perpetual

Surprise!

It's SUPER-ACTION FRIDAY!

I started 5 new seeds! 2 x Green House Arjan's Haze #1, 2 x TGA Subcool Qleaner, and 1 x Green House White Widow.

:high-five:

I have never grown any of these strains. Here are some descriptions:

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Arjan's Haze #1
[Green House Seed Company]

Sativa 80 / Indica 20
Origins - Neville's Haze x G-13 Sativa
Flowering - 77 days
Harvest - Early November

Green House Seed Company caters to the haze fan with several strains in this family. Arjan's Haze #1 is a strong sativa with medium-size internodes, a combination of G-13 and Neville's Haze. Hazes tend to be a bit leggy, because they branch rapidly, forming a lanky pine tree shape. Ajan's Haze is in the middle of the haze spectrum and can be kept short by pruning and splitting. The stems are very flexible during vegetative growth, allowing for easy bending and training. Ideally this plant is grown with to plants per square yard.

The best yields for this variety come from hydro systems, but growing in soil will give a smoother taste and a more natural high. It can be grown with sufficient indoor space, or outside in Mediterranean, temperate and subtropical regions. Arjan's Haze #1 has a very fast metabolism and absorbs more feeding than an average sativa. Green House recommends starting with a low pH (5.5 hydro / 5.7 soil) and slowly increasing to 6.3 at the end of flowering. Maximum EC levels should be 2.1 in hydro and 1.9 in soil. Plants should be flushed in the final stages of flowering.

As haze cultivators know, these sativas require longer grow times. Arjan's Haze #1 ripens in an average 11 weeks, or late October / early November in the northern hemisphere. When planted in 5-gallon containers, height can be limited to 4-5 feet at maturity. When root development is not limited and ideal conditions are met, this plant can easily reach over 10 feet.

This dark oily green plant has large leaves and huge buds that are quite compact and dense for a sativa, with an irregular shape due to calyx development, and short thick hairs. Its intense sativa aromas - reminding one of moss, forest and musk - are a natural deterrant to pests. The smoke has a background of incense and hard wood, with hints of mint and pepper in flavor. Its strong high creeps up slowly and steadily, reaching a very long peak. It is an uplifting and clearheaded sensation that is ideal for social activities.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

White Widow is the most potent cannabis on Earth and is named for the abundance of trichomes, giving the plant a whitish tint. It is also one of the more powerful strains of marijuana (alongside AK-47 and Afghan Kush) with a very high 20%-25% THC content.
White Widow feminized seeds are (60%/40%) indica/sativa cross-strain and is best suited to indoor cannabis cultivation. Feminized seeds grow as high as 35-80 cm with the yield up to 450 gr per m2. It's suggested to flower (12 hour light) this marijuana variety for 8 weeks, but 10 weeks will really give you the crystals you are after. Try to turn the lights off altogether the final 2 weeks of the flowering cycle- or at least down to 8 hours. This keeps the flowers from re-growth and stresses the plant into giving up its last drop of goodness as crystal to protect the flower! The buds have so much THC on them that it is hard to see them at all.
The smell is strong pungency. It first hits you, then follows a sour sweetness with the final whiff ... turning sweet. If a plant could have a strong body odour then the White Widow needs a deodorant.
Cannabis smokers adore its sweet, thick, acrid smoke that imparts a hammering stone. Extremely powerful for experienced smokers only

[NOTE: That description, from GH, sounds a bit exaggerated to me...]

Qleaner
Sex : Feminized
Type : Mostly sativa
Flowering : Photoperiod
Genetics : Jacks Cleaner f1 X Purple Urkle X Space Queen
Flowering Time : Medium, Long
Outdoor Harvest : Sept / Oct
Height : Tall
THC Level : High
Characteristics : Lavender/ Citrus taste

TGA Subcool Seeds Qleaner has been fully tested by the growing public. We are very happy with the field reports especially the stability of the strain, the heavy resin production, and the amazing smell and taste we created in this hybrid. The fact that the strain goes Purple in the right conditions just adds to its mystique. Qleaner's cannabis seeds produce tall spear shaped cola's and her yield is medium to heavy. Her cannabis seeds can be cultivated both indoors, outdoors and greenhouse. The best way to grow Qleaner is to let the cannabis seeds grow very fast in soil and super fast hydro. Flowering time is between 60-70 days. High type is very spacey and strong it seems to impress even the seasoned pot snob. Qleaner smell variations include Grape and banana smelling females. We openly tested this strain in 10 separate gardens with growers at all skill levels and every single one got amazing results.

This took a long journey to accomplish and we are extremely happy with the results.

PICTURES! woot!

First, the seeds. The Arjan's Haze #1 (AHJ) and the White Widow (WW) are feminized and color coded/coated. The Qleaner (QLR) is not feminized or coated. I have 2 more Qleaner seeds, in case, but that's all the AJH and WW seeds I have right now:

Here are the cuttings in the Clone Machine. I have lost 3 Blue Dream and 1 cheese already. 2 to mechanical failure (I accidentally broke them) and 2 to stems that softened and they fell over:

20111209Aber-05.png

It's the same two strains that have failed to pop roots. :(

20111209Aber-06.png

These Blue Dream cuttings were needed to make sure I had something that survived of that strain. They all look crazy bent over in this photo, but really only one is actually looking too bad (lower right). The rest are fine and healthy:

Let's start with that Tangerine Dream in the back left:

20111209Aber-11.png

I read good things when I decided to order this. Now I find bad reviews. It isn't bulking up much at all, which is apparently a common outcome. Also she's a bit ragged. I'll see what happens, I guess:

I will say this though: the Tangerine Dream sure knows how to build an odd looking trunk. Check her out:

Next is the Super Lemon Haze:

She's looking quite divine and has been pretty easy to control:

I changed the Clone Machine water. I am trying General Hydroponics RapidStart this time. I asked at the local grow shop and they said this got the best 'reviews' from customers.

I also mixed up some new rooting foliar spray.

[action report]
==> Change Clone Machine water:

-Mix (2) gallons
-Per gallon:
1/2 t GH RapidStart
1/2 T Yucca
pH target: 6.00 (±.05) Actual: 6.00 @ 17.6 C
1/2 t Companion

==> Mix rooting foliar:

-Mix (1/2) gallon
-Per gallon:
1 T Ful-power
1 T yucca
1 t Feather tea
pH target: 6.40 (±.05) Actual: 6.43 @ 18.4 C

[/action report]

Of the seeds I started soaking last night, the Green House color coated seeds have already popped. I will plant them all tonight.

I'll add it to the list. Sometime this weekend I need to:
  • Plant the seeds
  • Take some more cuttings and start them in Rapid Rooter plugs
  • Jar up the Blue Dream I recently harvested
  • Spray veg for bugs
If I get time, I'll work some more on the drying cabinet.

:peace:

It was a busy day. I did everything in the list above except spraying for bugs - I don't have any Azadirachtin. With Christmas coming there is no spare money for that, so I'll have to figure something out. I guess I could at least hit them with Spinosad. I'll do that tomorrow I hope.

Ohhh, man. How have I never found this one before? Looks like I've got a lot of reading to catch up on, and a new language to learn.

+ reps for an amazing perpetual grow!

Welcome to my little corner, fncg. No rush on the catching up, unless you actually mean to read every feed report. ;) A lot of what I have done has been repetitive, but growing can be like that. I any case, feel free to speak up anytime. Either I'll learn from you, you'll learn from me, or if we are lucky, both will happen. I'm not easily offended and it gets kinda quiet in here sometimes, so anything you have to say or ask is fine. :)

Thanks Aberration. Clearly I've stumbled upon a piece of 420 history, right as I'm starting my little perpetual grow. I'll be checking in later, much to learn do I have. :Namaste:

The Super Lemon Haze (SLH) and Tangerine Dream (TDR) are scheduled to come down in 16 days, but TDR may want longer. She still isn't as full as I like and all of her pistils are perky and white still, so I may need to play this one by ear. SLH is looking perfect for the original harvest date however.

They both are now in the late bloom stage I call taper, right before flush. TDR may just hover in this state a bit.

Also, GREAT NEWS! Both of the Qleaner (QLR) seeds have come up. QLR.0A is straight, green, and the first true leaves have just revealed themselves. QLR.0B is still unfolding, having just broken the surface earlier this evening. No sign of the Arjan's Haze #1 or White Widow seeds yet, but it's still early.

I have not grown any of these. What would be good to know about the WW?

:peace:

Well, while I have smoked the WW, I have not grown it. My question was out of my own curiosity, WW is becoming more and more interesting to me. I had a small amount from a dispensary once, and actually didn't like it. It went straight to my face, and eyeballs! There are a LOT of different versions, by a lot of different breeders, so its something I try to educate myself on, as I think I would like to grow it out and try to melow it a bit with another strain, like Jilly bean or BubbleGum....Just thinking out loud...:Namaste:

Everybody likes something different. I was just looking to start an indica-heavy strain and this one has a long history, so I figured it's worth trying.

The two Matanuskans in bloom have hit late stage bloom. Harvest is expected in early January.

All of what was small veg is now officially medium veg, along with the requisite increase in nute strength.

I put a heater in the bloom room on a thermostat. I set it to keep the temp at 69F or above. That should keep the lights-off hours from getting too cold. It was hitting the 50's in there today during lights-off (I run lights during the night) and that's just too dang cold. I'll bet it purples up my buds a little though. ;)

Did I mention that the cold water and sewer lines have been extended through the new bloom and into the veg? So now I have a 'faucet' and a 'drain' right here in the veg room. Much nicer. This weekend I should be able to get the fittings to bring the hot water in here too. I also should have a chance to finish ducting the new AC. I might start mapping out where to hang the lights too. Probably Sunday though as I'm committed to Christmas shopping on Saturday.

The better news is that I will have a 1.5 week vacation around the holidays, with plenty of time to eat sugar cookies and work on the room assembly. Woot!

Re: ??? ????

[a blind link]

I hope I'm not being rude, but I generally avoid following a blind link like that. I work in the computer security industry and that makes my spidey sense feel funny. It says you are from Denmark, so maybe English isn't your first language and you just want me to see your garden. I don't know. But under the circumstances I'm uncomfortable following your link. I hope you understand.

If you would like to contribute here, feel free. I'm friendly.

:peace:

I added new seedlings AH1.0A, AH1.0B (Arjan's Haze #1), QLR.0A, QLR.0B (Qleaner), and WW.0A (White Widow) to the feed rotation.

I'm making some changes in the lineup. I need a new pair of plants ready for bloom about a week into the new year, and I mistook that deadline for a week into February. As a result, the plants I thought I was going to use are suddenly not old enough. I had not intended to bloom the large Grape Kool-Aid mother, but now I think I will put her in along with the smallish 'lavender' indica mother and just play them by ear.

Also, after talking to the source of my 'Trinity' cut, I have concluded I will just down her now in veg. The source reports that he got the same results I did: 12 oz of bud that looked good but had nearly zero potency. I smoked a joint alone and felt minimal buzz that was gone in less than an hour. He had similar results in two different grow environments. A plant like that isn't worth my time. So as soon as I get around to it, I'm chopping her down.

I also expect to overcome a major hurdle to completing the new bloom room very soon now. Once that is done, I will have the time, money, and materials to finally finish putting a much improved bloom space together.

I hope.
