Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - Perpetual

SLH. 1C has expired. I still have 4 Super Lemon Haze and I only need two or three, so I'm OK. Two for me and one for a friend.

BD.6D & E (Blue Dream) got their last liquid tonight. By Sunday night they need to be down.

TDR (Tangerine Dream) is HUGE! It's easily over 4' in diameter, and with pot it's over 6' tall. It's pretty close to the largest plant I've ever grown. It has a month to go. The Super Lemon Haze is not as big at 3' across and about 4' tall, though it might have been - had it got similar light. When you are trying to keep plants separated and you have 4 lamps for 6 plants it can get pretty tight in a 10'x8.5' room with a 9' ceiling. :thedoubletake: Sometimes you have to make choices. It'll get a light to itself for the next month, so she'll come around I think.

The two Matanuskans are doing OK, but they will not be overly big. Smallish really. I'm guessing 6 oz each instead of 8 oz each as they would if bigger, but I reserve the right to revise that as time goes by - they still have 6+ weeks to go. They could surprise me.

The older veg plants are all getting too big and in need of a cloning session. The younger veg plants are all too damp to feed yet. I'll ease them in and skip a feeding.

I'm on another push to get as much done on the long-awaited new bloom room as I can. I want to have the legwork done by Christmas so that all I have to do is drop some key bits into place after that. Due to the expenses of the season and the immediate financial outlook purchasing of expensive items is on hold right now.

I did some work yesterday, though. I cut four 6" holes in the ceiling over the AC for air to be ducted in and out through. I need 2 matching 6" turbines to install onto that in the attic space. I also want to cut a couple of new vents into the roof along the roofline - minimum 1 right now to get it working since there is already one to use up there. I need 2 of those ducting sections that close when no air is flowing. I think I have the rest of the ducting I need for the AC. I have a dehumidifier. I can hang two lights in the new bloom, but I do not have all the ducting for that.

I need to run the piping through the room to where the new veg will be. Tomorrow I'm renting a roto-hammer to punch a hole through the foundation for the 2" sewer line, and I imagine piping will make healthy advances this weekend.

The CO2 has to be moved at some point. Nothing to buy there, but timing is important as I will be leaving plants in the old bloom room as well, so I have to choose a room for the CO2. I am not bringing any plant that has been in the current bloom into the new bloom. Everything will be sterilized. As plants are harvested in the old room, their lights will be cleaned and moved to the new room. The replacement plants will come from veg and go into the new bloom..

All veg plants will have been regularly treated for all bugs and diseases. Nothing bad will come in if I can help it. I want to buy special protective clothing for the grow so that I can easily keep a strict control through careful vigilance and hygiene.

So that's where I am on that. I'm tired already. :tokin:

So I've been smoking on the Matanuskan I harvested on August 3rd.

Pictures of them about 10 days before harvest are here.

Pictures of the harvest are here.

It is very strong. I am a doobie or two every night kind of guy, so I'm not a lightweight, but this stuff just gets me uber stoned. I find myself in an odd pose somewhere, wondering what I was doing there. It's good. The stuff has no flavor, no special smell, and looks average. It's a f'ing pain in the arse to grow, all viney and floppy, and it shows deformities on a regular basis. But it produces 8 oz per plant and it's so strong. We always talk about getting rid of it, but we never do. At least not so far...

I punched a hole for the 2" sewer line through a foundation. I'm still widening it, but the hardest part is over. I can hand-chisel the rest of it. I'll post the pics I took later tonight.

Thanks for the likes, folks. I do appreciate it.

Here are pictures I took from yesterday's project. There is a 2" diameter 'sewer line' that runs through the new bloom room. Well, it runs into it right now, but it has to run back out the other side to the next room over still. I needed to connect this pipe:

20111126Aber-01.png

across this gap and through the foundation at left (You can see I already started):

20111126Aber-02.png

So using a roto-hammer I made this hole. It was difficult because it's in the corner:

20111126Aber-03.png

I then used the roto-hammer and a hand chisel & hammer to open the hole up and clean it up a bit:

20111126Aber-04.png

It was a lot of work for an old guy. And the backside didn't come out so nice. Most of this fell away when I first broke through from the other side (...break on through, break on through, break on through from the other side...):

20111126Aber-05.png

When I place a test piece of pipe in the hole, it fits perfect and appears to line up with the existing pipe quite well:

20111126Aber-06.png

20111126Aber-07.png

I can patch up the mess on the backside, and I need to seal it up as well. This will all be worth it later. Even though this pretty well did me in for the afternoon. Well, that and a good doobie of Matanuskan.

:peace:

I thought the trimmers might be here early, so I got up this morning and sprayed the garden for bugs. I won't be able to treat for bugs for a week after the Blue Dream pair in bloom come down - they will be drying in that room.

Turns out I needn't have got up so early: they can't make it today. They rescheduled for tomorrow (which was the original harvest date, so that's fine).

So I took clones. I was going to fill the Clone Machine 25 I have been getting ready, as well as putting 25 cuttings into coco plugs in the dome. But the clone gel I need for the plugs got left out and it smelled fermented. No good. I settled for just 25 cuttings into the Clone Machine. This is the first time I have ever used one of these, so we shall see how it goes.

Everyone else got the weekend flush and beneficials, except the BDs that come out tomorrow - they will be fine.

I realized today that with the Blue Dream I have drying I would be over my legal limit for usable bud. So I sorted through what I already had. There was a lot that was really just too old. It isn't moldy or over-dry; the contents of the trichomes have simply had time to break down and it doesn't really get you high anymore. Some of it might have still been good, but it got warmer than it should have (remember the three enemies of THC: heat, light, and humidity extremes) increasing the rate of break-down. The rest is just simply old.

So I took pics as I threw it away, since it seemed like a semi-epic amount of bud to toss. I know - I'm weird.

20111203Aber-01.png

Those jars contain the following. Starting on the top row, from left to right: G13 x GodBud from May, Matanuskan Thunderfu@k duff and small buds of unknown age, and Grandaddy Purps from early August. In the bottom row, left to right: Blue Dream headies from March, 2 full ounces of "lavender" indica from July, more Grandaddy Purps from early August, BigBud x BlueMagoo from June, and more Blue Dream headies, this time from last December.

It was all past its time. It had mostly turned a darker green:

20111203Aber-02.png

20111203Aber-03.png

It totaled almost 300 grams:

20111203Aber-04.png

Not good for anything really:

20111203Aber-05.png

I usually try to gift extra bud to other legal cardholders I know, but this stuff just never went anywhere. It happens.

:peace:

No. If it's too far gone for smoking, it's too far gone for hash IMO, for the same reason. Cannibidiol (CBD) becomes cannabielsoic acid, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiolic acid monomethyl ether. THC becomes cannabinol (CBN), which becomes cannabinadiol and cannabinolic acid monomethyl ether. Only THC is psychoactive on its own, but the relative amounts of THC, CBN and CBD can change the high. The rest of it is useless for getting high.

Over time, it all degrades to worthless. Heat and light can speed that up. You can keep your pot in a sealed jar in a dark cold place and it will keep longer (because you have drastically slowed the degradation reactions) but it cannot indefinitely hold off the inevitable. Sooner or later, know matter what you do, the cannabinoid mix in the trichomes in your pot will no longer get you high. It is then no longer good to smoke, vape, or as hash. It's dead, Jim.

All of this was sitting in a dark corner of the new bloom room. The temps spiked occasionally (the AC isn't hooked up yet) and it got some light from time to time. Plus I was opening it all to steal smoking buds on a regular basis. All of these things contributed to the breakdown of the THC into useless compounds.

The lesson is: Nothing is forever. Yesterday is good to remember, but we live today. Live in the now.

I have newer, fresher bud to smoke now. I'll be fine without what I tossed. That said, I will not be surprised if no one 'likes' that post. It's hard to be positive about tossing ganja in the trash, isn't it?

:peace:

They all got their weekly flush and beneficials. I would have sprayed for bugs, but I'm still removing bud from stems in there and fogging is out of the question. Maybe tomorrow.

Feel free to hang out, Quixilvir. Speak up if you want. I may have strong opinions sometimes, but I'm pretty tolerant of dissent and I love to learn something new. I also love to hear other people's ideas. I'm no pro, as I'm fond of saying, but maybe we can help each other. :)

Big feed tonight. MTP.2H (Matanuskan Th.) had mostly fallen over when I found her. It looks like it's my fault for not staking her better. I don't know if the damage will be fatal, but the vast majority of the plant will be lost if the damage is too severe to recover from. I figure the upper half will start noticeably failing very quickly, so we should know in a few days I guess. Sigh.

The Tangerine Dream is really smelling the place up and she is huge. Super lemon haze is smaller and smell very little at the moment. I'm waiting. While I was attempting to bind up MTN.2H, I also I staked up MTP.2G, SLH and TDR, and cleaned out the dead and draining bits at the bottom and inside. Two got spread out. I'll show you soon.

I see some Trinity cuttings have roots starting.

Very, very busy. Much to report soon. ;)

I have roots in the Clone Machine. So far all 5 Trinity, all 5 Grape Kool-Aid, and one of the 'lavender' indica have roots so far. Looking good for those. The Cheese might be on the verge of rooting, but I've already lost 1 of the Cheese and 2 of the Blue Dream. On top of that, the rest of the Blue Dream cuttings look pretty bad underside.

I'm going to grab more cuttings for the Rapid Rooters and fill the dome again. I'm going to keep them in parallel until I get the Clone Machine (or equivalent) firing on all cylinders reliably.

It won't be too much longer and some of the small veg will move up to middle veg.

The Super Lemon Haze looks very inviting with fat, dense nugs. But the Tangerine Dream looks like it needs more time. It has some real filling out to do. I have planned to take both down around 12/29 (70 days). I'm not sure TDR will be quite ready. We shall see. I can wait.

MTP.2H (Matanuskan Th., the one that fell over) seems to be OK so far. No sign of drooping yet and still a lush green. :fingers crossed:

It totaled almost 300 grams:

Not good for anything really:

I usually try to gift extra bud to other legal cardholders I know, but this stuff just never went anywhere. It happens.

:peace:

I know you have you reasons but it just kills me to see that!! I would make use of it somehow, even if I smoked it and didn't get that high...It is much better than most all of the bud on the streets(which I tend to stay away from if possible)...I with I knew where your trash cans were and what day you have trash service!! But then again, I do remember reading something about cat litter being added to those bags if I'm correct...Was that you or another journal where they were throwing out old buds??? Anyhow, you are a great addition to the site and your journals are above all...Your like the author of "how to grow weed for dummies!"...Very informative and you make every step of it very easy to understand....Keep it up man!!!:thumb:

:welcome:

That was probably me. I put a bag full of 'sensitive' trash into another bag with used cat litter. If the bags get punctured, the litter leaks first. The garbage man's not gonna look any closer. He's going to get it into the truck ASAP if it's not there already. It might be unnecessary caution or it might be a worthless gesture, but it makes me feel better about tossing sensitive garbage.

Thanks for the compliments, but if I was so good at this I would have converted it to an equivalent regime sourced entirely from widely available nutrients, instead of a detailed use of a narrowly available nutrient line. I keep hearing they are going national, but it's been like 4 years with not a peep. I'm certainly not a pro, as I still get owned by newbie issues from time to time. But if I'm helpful then I have achieved my goals.

:thankyou:
