A Video Journal With Pigeons420 - 2016

600 lb hand presses are like $20 and I get a 10% return the way I do it. It also depends on the strain as well. But, I hear you on it seeming like a waste of good bud. I only do it it occasionally because I don't want to get too used to the high where bong rips don't do it for me anymore. It's happened to me in the past. I could only get high on oil. I had to quit and reset my system to get back on the bong, so to speak.

Cheers pigeons.

You know, I read this and sat back to think, because I consume an impressive amount of cannabis through a number of different methods, all day long. I start the day with a CBD capsule, follow that up with a THC BioBomb capsule and top it all off with cannabutter in my oatmeal. From that point on it's more capsules (on a schedule, these are my baseline for healing and mental state), the vape pen with wax, the bong with whatever catches my eye, brownies when the impulse strikes, all day long. I've been considering how having regular access to wax - almost gone now :( - has affected my tolerance levels, because I don't want to have to reset.

Interestingly, and somewhat surprisingly, I haven't noticed any drop off in my buzz level. Thank goodness for that, but it makes me wonder if it might be due to the fact that I mix my methods up so much. I also wonder if it might be due to the fact that I take 4 CBD capsules a day. Hmmmmm........ That's actually a very plausible explaination. Let that one stew in the back of my brain for a while.

I have another video to watch. Let me hit the pen for this one. :battingeyelashes:

to answer this question. I got about 3 hoots from the rosin. And I can just about smoke 3 grams in 3 hoots.

I'll take the rosin hands down. :adore:

You have impressive lungs my friend! :adore:

Perhaps slight exaggeration but I don't think by much. I CAN take a gram a hoot but not that it's something I would do every hoot

perhaps slight

when I was a younger man I could take a pretty big hit but I doubt I could have ever taken a whole gram in one hit.. sure wish you lived in Oregon Pigeon, it would be well worth a gram just to watch you give it a whirl :thumb:

Something you have to consider is this. You were using a scale with .1 gram resolution. The tool may have weighed heavy and the rosin weighed light. That is not a very accurate way to get yield. I use a scale with 0.01g resolution and I press a full 3.5g total to get my measurements. Pucking increases yield as does higher pressure. When using a hair straightener most go 250F+ to compensate for lack of pressure. If you decrease the pressure you must increase temps to get yield.

The Huck Kush gives me a 20-22% yield. In real easy to understand terms that means an eighth of Huck Kush gives me 0.7gm+ of rosin. Rosin also has more terps from the same strain as BHO. And 22% would be a good BHO yield. But this is solvent free. And drying time free. I press out the rosin, collect it and dab within the space of 30 minutes. I have been pucking 0.5gm with a garlic press between sheets of parchment paper. Helps with yield but I haven't checked my returns with pucking. But visually I can tell it's an improvement. Now when I do a second press I get so little it's prob not worth it. And the pucks are dry to the touch when I pre puck before pressing.

So for me that means BHO yield with higher quality, pucks I can make into canna coconut oil, and no dangerous solvents or high solvent prices. I feel like where rosin is concerned all I do is win win win no matter what!

You've convinced me. I'm starting my own fund and playing with the hair straightener while I wait for the money to become available to purchase better equipment. This is definately the way to go. Thank you Shiggity for taking the time to drive this passion and get the rest of us excited. There're never enough reps available for all the times I want to give them to you. You're such a challenge for me. :laughtwo:

Just don't get discouraged by the hair straightener. If I still was doing it that way I would have given up by now. My yields were abysmal with the hair straightener. They improved somewhat for the hasmasta-Kut style press, but now with the arbor press set up I finally felt like it was truly worth it. I am getting a good yield and dabbing about 1.5 grams rosin /week. My girl and I used to smoke about 7 grams/week so that is roughly equivalent amounts of bud used up per week and now I can make edibles with the rest. Sue I can see you just eating the chips because they get kinda chewy crisp and the high pressure plus heat probably doesn't do a full decarb but it definitely decarbs it some.

I have read where some don't want to waste the bud chips and vape or smoke them. Say it tastes like popcorn. So for me I will mix my rosin reclaim and bud chips and coconut oil and get some edibles going. Sorry for the Threadjack pigeons! Please check out the rosin press info thread in my sig. It has a lot of info and is being updated by several peeps with rosin presses!

We all thread jack. None of us cares about that. :laughtwo: We're all one big, rowdy family and we're excited about sharing.

I'd sure love to take you up on that gram. Not because I think I could smoke it in one hoot. I'd grind it up into about 20 hoots so you and I could spend some time to shoot the shit :passitleft:

Good to see your face OlderGrower!

Pineapple chunk is looking good. That's got to be good yield compared to the old one colas. Good work!

Yea I've gotta step my game up if I'm going to dabble in this hash oil business. Not to mention there's a special someone that would like me to try CCO and capsules. And I'm more than willing to give that a shot. I just need not just more plants but well grown plants!

Plus, I'm trying to do her well in my mans honour! Not everyday you get a clone sent from the heavens. :high-five:

Shigg's you're right! All you do IS win win win. And I want to be apart of that!

Like I said before, I do believe it's the way to go. There's just some changes that need to be mAde in my garden to compensate for the lower yield of hash oil all together. I'm a strong believer that rosin is the way to go. Because I believe concentrates are the way to go. And you should have concentrates without contamination. Simple.

When I said that its not for me, I meant it more in terms of "not for me right now". Right now, I don't have the equipment, budget or even the supply for that matter to support taking this leap towards rosin or even BHO for that matter. Because of my budget and surrounding circumstances. But that's not going to stop me from starting the process to one day smoking nothing but concentrates. And when I do, I'm going to want it to be safe for me and my enviroment.

You're a gentleman and a scholar Sir Shigg's!

:slide: boy oh boy what have we started? could you have imagined 2 years ago we'd be on a path towards concentrates??! I think it's rather incredible. I probably would have told you I would be smoking herb for the rest of my life back then. Not anymore!

Don't you worry for a second about thread jacks. I don't even know who came up with that term?!? were family here living in the pages of our rent free apartments. :high-five:

Right now you have plates. The hair straightener ones. Combine that with a 60 dollar arbor press like mine and you are ready to make some serious rosin. Until you break the plates. Then save up for the Joel W. 175 dollar plates and a couple of 10 dollar soldering irons. You will already have a press so that will be one thing off the list! Look on YouTube and search for arbor rosin press. One of the first five videos is someone that made an arbor press with hair straightener plates.

Sounds like a great way to spend a day, for sure, I was doing hoots everyday all day long while hanging with family on my vacation and man was that a blast though I would be up for burning an extra gram just to see how big of a hoot you actually could pull :cheesygrinsmiley::adore:

I just want to see the look on your face as it starts to expand and your lungs force you to let it loose :rofl:

Besides, one just never knows until they give it the ole college try

Oh keep up the videos, love them even though I do not always comment on them.
Oh and 27 is way too low on the nugs, more like 37 to 41 but hard to tell with only seeing the from of the jar As for weight, well that could be all over the place depending on how dense the buds are, but knowing you grew them I will go on the assumption they are dense buds only because I know how you grow. I will post my guess when I switch over to youtube later after my chores are done.

Have a great day, my vacation is quickly coming to an end and I want to go enjoy it just a little bit more.
