A Pictorial Journal For 2021

Howdy All 420 Peoples and have a update to share, good news if fact!! I got the replacement bulb and it showed 1 hour before lights on and is working hard already. So the lamp that fell over and took out one seedling is replaced.

I soaked an extra seed 3 days ago and is braking ground in record speed. So this is day 4 for it and it is replacing the crushed one.

Then I was peeking around the main cola of one of the Chemdog's and it is showing sex. No question at all it's a girl.
So a lot of good stuff in one day and it is a welcome sign. After a shaky start to say the least.

The new bulb is a cob led to help out start seedlings and in veg. It says 15,000 lumens and that converts to 345 PAR / / PPF. As lumens has nothing to do with plants but a measure of how human interoperates light.

But the shape of it, its low heat and that amount of energy is equal to my hanging LED at say 35 inches away. It is helpful with the newbies. Then once they stretch and have a complete canopy. The hanging LEDS energy cannot get to any lower pop corn nuggets. This is the answer as I can have it underneath the canopy and fill the lower branch's will usable light.
I left the door open to the grow as I am 2 rooms away typing this and smell lovely skunk!! Will see what it does for the 2 Chemdog's also. It makes them glow !!

A few add on pic's to start the weekend, take a peek.....

Looking for love !!

Got to run it is Friday and will back on Sunday, that will give them 3 days with the new light. And it will give the 2 newbies time to think about it.

Have a great weekend and may you Keep'em Green in your own little worlds.!!

Peace

Happy Saturday All and just spent 1 1/2 hours baby sitting them and adjusting their grow area. Repositioned the LED'S and created a space to hang the other 2 when the time comes. Also the new bulb is showing good signs and will help the 2 newbies catch up. To the Chemdog's starting week 6 of their journey.

I did a test run with the vacuum idea I had to extract the water / feed from the lower 1/3 of the pot. I did it by hand but the proof of concept works !!!
Now I just need to build the lower bucket with small hand sink drain parts. HomeD has the parts for a total of 15 bucks, I have a milk create and small hand held wet vac.

  1. I will document everything and get a bathroom scale.

  2. So I have the pots weight before the flush. I will use 2 full gallons of PH'ed water to flush.

  3. I will catch a small portion of drainage after the last gallon. See what the PPM is and PH.

  4. I wait 1/2 hour and add 1 volume of their normal feed-watering solution and wait another 1/2 hour to let gravity run its course. Then weight the pot again
  5. Now back to the plant, I feed it the last 4 liters of feed. Foxfarm has a basic "tea" additive very low nuit's mainly for enhancing soil and micro-element and such with 1/2 teaspoon of CalMag++ // It calls for a full teaspoon to a gallon. This showed 1100 PPM and I had it right at 5.7 PH of the gallon going in.

  6. I waited 45 minutes for it to drip down and the bottom was completely soaked. This is when I started the vacuum process. The suction bucket I found is big enough that the 5 gallon fiber pot will snuggly sink into it by 3 to 4 inches. It create a plunger effect. So when then vacuum that is attached to the bottom of the bucket. It will draw out the settled water/ bilge-funk water from the bottom 1/3rd of the pot.

  7. I did the below process by hand and I was able to pull out 1 and 1/2 liters of solution. I checked it and the PPM was 1565 and PH of it was 6.32
What I checked right after the first 2 gallons of flush water was almost 2700 PPM and 6.8 PH

I did this with out the catch bucket, I just jury rigged to pieces of 1X1 across 2 - 5 gallon buckets and set the plant on them. This allowed me to directly put the small square hose fixture to the bottom of the fiber pot. When you turn the vacuum on the fiber pot is like a big coffee filter only allowing the liquid to pass through.

I let it sit there for 45 seconds, moved it over 2 inches and did another 45 seconds. I did that 3 times, turn the pot 1/4 turn. And repeated this to complete suck the entire surface of the under side of the pot. So 4 times to completely suck the bottom.

The vacuum never bogged down, like when you place your hand over it. So this means the air that is blowing out of the back is air being PULLED through the fiber pot. As it sucks the leftover water, more like bilge water from the bottom 1/3 of the pot.

This is the point for this as it contains the residue of 5++ weeks of feeding that was not utilized. Plus it will take 2 to 3 days for all this extra water/ funk to evaporate or worse be consumed by the plant. Even with fiber pots this is like low tide mud for 2 full days.

I checked the drainage from the first 2 gallons of PH'ed water, I had it set to 5.75 PH on the stick and my tap water is around 245 PPM on average. It was showing 2645 PPM and 6.72 PH. I was happy with the 6.72 PH because with soil it will climb by itself.

Last year I was getting out 7.25 to 7.45 and was PH'ing the feed and plain watering's to 6.25 on average. I started making sure everything I add to these this go round is 5.75 to 5.80. My thought being that if the soil is going to push the PH higher no matter what I do.

By having the input this low, more toward Hydro solutions numbers, so it is still safe. ( MY THOUGHTS HERE )
As it sits waiting to be absorbed by the plant it is always around 6.5. So any liquid sitting in the medium I want at or below 6.5.
Being 6.75 is the cut off for locking out almost all the nuit's.

So if your medium internally is floating on average at 6.8 or higher you a putting the roots in a position to not be as optimum as they would if the medium was hanging at 6.4 to 6.0. That is my point, to maintain the medium at below 6.5 no matter what.

SO THE VACUUM IDEA WORKS !!!

This prevents the lower roots from sitting in this toxic mud for 2 days. It is bringing in O2 to the root system that would never get this much. It also CUTS 2 to 3 full days you cant feed them. After giving them almost 3 gallons of fluid in one sitting. It would be at least 7 day if you are lucky for them to dry out. This allows you to get back on schedule in 3 days.

  8. So by weighting them before, then after flush and then after the suction is applied I will know how much fluid is left in the plant. Water being 8lbs. per gallon but more important it is creating a healthier root system and soil / medium condition for it to prosper in.

So if you fuck up and have to do a complete flooding to wash out the soil. You need to wait 7 to 10 days before you can "TRY AGAIN". This way you can re-feed in 3 days give or take and is why I thought of this with the 3 years I stuck with Autoflowers.

My theory was to push them with the MOST nuit's I could then every 2 weeks flush and suck and i could re-feed in 2 days. Because you don't have the time or control with them, like regular photo periods.

It kind of works out that 3 to 4 weeks in full photo is equal to 7 to 10 days of an Auto's life cycle. Even if you go 24 / 7 that do what they want.

Here are some pic I posted months back to get an idea of what it will KINDA look like completed. The test today is that it worked and of the 4 liters I added after the flush. I waited all most 1 hour and sucked out 1.5 liters

Plus the bottom of the fiber pot is slightly damp not soaking wet. Picture when you rent a rug Doctor to clean your carpets. It floods the fibers but suck almost every bit back out all the way down to the padding. When you run your hand over it it damp to the touch. Same thing happening here.

All the flush residue is removed, the lower root system is aerated. And the 1 gallon of light feed is in place and you don't have to wait 2 or 3 days. NOT HAVING the low tide mud in the bottom of the pot.

  9. MEANS BETTER AND HEALTHIER PLANTS Plus if I could create a proto-type that could sell for under $50.00. I would be real happy!!

  10. These are the pic's of my idea, hopefully by next week I have it built. Then run a full documented test. I will video it so I can add a link to see what I mean and how it actually works.

They are 1 hour into nap time so I will try and catch a few pic's later on. The 2 never really drooped after the flush but I did suck out all that nasty water!! We shall see

Thanks for stopping by and Keep'em GREEN

Peace...

They just woke up and to say they are VERY HAPPY. The flush was a great success and the pic's show how happy they are. The LED'S are not on yet the bulb and fan start 5 minutes before they do. So they just came out of dark and the folds in the leaves are harder the a fresh starched dress shirt.

Now to see how heavy they feel by tomorrow morning, I am guesting by Monday they can get a good feed again. So being able to feed 3 days after a 3 gallon flush makes the vacuum gismo a winner !! These are them without the burple effect of the LED'S.

Howdy Folks in 420 World

I have found a work around for the 2 newbies being the other 2 are 6 weeks ahead. I just hung a LED in a hall closet and I transfer them into it when the other 2 are ready for lights out. I have them sharing a 5 gallon pot so it is very easy to move it. While they are small and this gives them 24 on for the first week or two.

I don't mind them sharing a 5 gallon pot because it allows ALL the nuit's to get soaked up. As it almost removes the chance of root rot from over watering. How much size is compromised, I don't know.

I was able to give the Chemdog's a good feed on Monday as they dried out nicely and took 3 liters of fluid. And being 3 day after a 3 gallon flush I think is impressive. The humidity has been at 42% to 41% which helped. But the pot was very light so the vacuum trick is a winner in my book. Their grow space is figured out and transferring the new one everyday is no issue.

I have lights on set to 4 in the afternoon, that's when I transfer them back. I leave for work by 11:00 PM so I take a nap around 5:30 till then. I get home at 6:00 AM `ish and have an alarm set for 9:45 if I doze off to move them out to the closet. So even when I drop the older ones to 16 on / 8 off they will have had much more time on 24 / 7 so I wont have to move them at all.

Snagged some pic's .......

These are the newbies with a quick reflector to hold in the light. Cardboard and Mylar blankets work wonders!!

They are starting day 9 but their is 3 days difference. The one with the leaves that got dripped on was one that survived when my other bulb light fell over on them. One got crushed so I started another seed.

These 2 are really starting to take shape and are loving life. Will start introducing pre-flower nuit's shortly. Foxfarm has the 3 pack you mix their VEG stage has some P & K but is mostly all NITROGEN. Then you mix 2 teaspoons of veg with 1 teaspoon of bloom / flower for the next 4 to 5 weeks..

Also once the other 2 start to catch up their will be 4 total LED's plus the bulb filling their space. So light is not an issue, and the opposite corner has a trap door. That allows me to turn off the water to the apartment without having to crawl underneath it. Plus there is a pull-down stair case to the attic. If I close the door to the grow area slide the trapdoor 1/3 the way open.

Then pull the stairs down a little bit. It creates a chimney effect. So all the heat goes up and out into the attic and out the roof vent and soffits. It getting into the low 50's temp wise at night. I can make it 78 to 80 degrees. Other wise it sky rockets to almost 90*. Great little trick and it helps remove some of the skunk!!

I am not worried about the neighbors narking on me. But don't want to share if I don't have to !!

At my 10 shot max so be right back!!

That's the show and will be back this weekend. Not bad for the start of week 6 and they look very happy and healthy.
There are one of two tips that got a VERY tiny bit of brown. I had one batch of nuit's just over 2000 PPM as I have been running it at 1750 to 1850. But Foxfarm chart shows / recommends 2100 to 2250 for 5th - 6th week. Every plant is different and I am sure they have a $10,000.00 dollar grow room to test their stuff!!

Thanks for stopping by and Keep'em Green !!!!

Peace ...

Howdy All a quick pit stop and a video drop, I like the videos better then pic's for the time being. Until they start showing buds and crystal goodness. They still are at 18 on and will wait till Saturday / Sunday to go to 16 ON. The extra 2 hours of sleep may help them in the energy department.

They are gobbling up water but two plants in the 5 gallons is a big factor. Do not have to worry about rot root but still need to watch how high I get the nuit's. Have a VERY TINY bit of brown on a couple of tips. The personal pride thing is to go the whole grow without any burning. Just the natural decline as they are ready for harvest.

The two little ones are at day ten and doing their thing. You can see it the leaves the Sativa in those to compared to the Chemdog's Indica dominance.

I pull them out and stick in a closet when the Chemdog's go lights out. I have them at 22 hours on and will keep that till the week end also. Then they get 20 ON 4 OFF for 2 to 3 weeks.

Here is the video and I like the way Vimeo stacks them as a playlist. You can really see the changes over time. The burple doesn't do them justice and we have had higher then normal temps the last two days. So for the heat factor I had to pull the cob led bulb, the utility room is effected by the outside air. So I am technically not a totally indoor grow. The next week we are back down to normal highs, so I can add it back. Might do one more video when it is lights on and kill the LED'S and use the cob bulb for the video. Will SEE !!

Thanks for Stopping By and Hope All is Green in your Worlds !!

Peace

Hit the wrong button in my Vimeo folder !!!
I have a new one from 4:30 with no Burple coming and have to redo the OPPS!! I hit the wrong button. Not even stoned yet !!! All is good!

Here we go getting back on track, shit happens !!

Peace

Happy Sunday All got a few pic's and an update on things. Will have a video when they wake up later on. I took a few pic's and then went to record and my low battery signal blinked twice and then went to shit. Nice warning !!

So it is charging up and lights out will happen before its done. Speaking of lights out I added 2 hours of sleep to their timers. Making it 16 ON and 8 hours OFF. Will do this for the next 10 to 14 days before I hit them 12/12 till the end.

Give or take tomorrow will be day 50 for the 2 Chemdog's so in 14 days more flipping them sounds right at 64 days of veg. Then the next 6 weeks it is all down hill till finish. I figure this will help start pre-flower and start juggling the P and K in the feed solution.

I always figure on 110 day for almost all my grows, except the Auto's. And this is the pace they are on, and cool to be at the 1/2 way point. The other 2 with the later start, are what they are and will treat them the same way as the Chemdog's. Anyhow here are a few pic's and will have the video later on today when they wake up.

I have to pop some lower leaves that are just in the way and re-adjust a few of their pull downs. So I will have out of the grow area and be able to get a good look at them.

Here's a few pic's for now take a peek .....

The first 2 are showing their Sativa roots and they have a nice uniform canopy going on.

Howdy All I forgot to posted the video from later in the day Sunday. All is good and funny is the two little ones have really jumped up in 1.5 days. I am guesting their tap roots have got a good hold now. Plus they are at 20 hours on with great light on them.

Plus the other two have had a extra day ++ to get over being picked at. They are very thirsty little buggers and I gave them a good plain water gulp yesterday morning. To force a good run out and it was below 2000 PPM that freaked me out. It was like 1287 PPM and a PH of 6.78.

It could be the combo of two plants sharing the pot, eating things up. But I am PH'ing the feed to below 6.0, averaging around 5.75 at least. This way the root environment over the next 24 hours. The moisture is below 6.5 more like 6.10.

This will allow the roots the best posable zone to transfer the goodies to the plant. I have only had one instance I had the feed at or above 2000 PPM. Foxfarm has on there chart / suggests 2100 to 2400 at this week of growth. I am aiming for 1750 to 1900 with a 700 PPM chaser to calm things down.

Also a quick tip if you use Vimeo for videos you get 1 post of X amount of bits per week free. So one video every 7 days or they want you to pay.

One video a week is fine by my books !!

Got to run and just remembered to post this. They are very Happy Keep them Green !!

Peace

Howdy All 420'ers out there hope all is well.

Just getting ready for the weekend and have noticed a few things that if anyone else agrees with or has any words. Please reply with anything or see for yourself down the road. It is something I notices 2 years ago and just like everything else in your growing handbook.

It is the little things you notice and realize along the way that helps to make you a better grower. I am guesting pre-flower is 10 to 14 days away for the 2 Chemdog's. What I have been using as a guide is the hints the plant is giving.

In the pic's I have below notice what I am using as a reference to establish this. I have seen it in all full photo's and in some of the Auto's i have grown. I am talking about the upper most node of each branch. They no longer double up, they start to only produce one shoot. Then stretch and produce one on the other side.

Even the branch itself starts to get that zig-zag effect and when you break up your dry bubs you can see it in the branch. You only see this start to happen in the upper branch's when your base stem starts to knot up. See the pics below as it shows the main runners starting to swell and almost look to become an anchor for what is about to start. When the runners start to knot up it is the plants way of getting ready for all that weight on to with buds forming.

I throw this out there if anyone notices this with there plants of has any at the 7 week mark. To start watching into the 9th week. Check to see if your upper nodes are getting crooked and only producing one new branch per side. If so so if the base is starting to knot up and the runners joining together almost like anchor ropes when you dock a boats for a long stay.

It just might be me but this is what I use to KNOW it id 10 days away and to be ready for the change. If you need to flush do it know. So you don't disrupt the cycle. And if you are going to pump up the feed you know the bulk of the medium is not hold a ton of un-used veg nuit's.

Here are the pic's I just took and it shows the base and the upper node. Going to a single shoot from a double. This is what I am using as a guide to show pre-flower is here. They are starting to produce a few trich's also. Or reading the changes in the plant. I think most never notice this and wondering if anyone else agrees or has any other conclusions.

Check it out ....

That is what I am talking about, they are no longer doubling up. To start the next node and the runner roots are preparing for something big to happen !!

Thats all I got for now and any reply or other info feel free to leave a note.

Got a few more pic's but at my 10 limit so I will add-on. Have a great weekend and hope all is Green in your worlds!!

Happy Sunday All and just a little drop off while waiting on the microwave. The Chemdog's are on the edge as I figure today is day 56 for them. With the standard of 58 to 65 days for veg they are close to hit pre-flower here quickly.

I have them at 14 on and 12 off since Tuesday pasted. So will see what the next 7 to 10 days brings up. As the 2 little ones are at day 23 to day 25. There is a 2 day difference between them but you can't really tell anymore. They are starting to get stronger feeds. As they are just coming into their own. And they are at a 20 ON 4 off light cycle.

Microwave just went off and starving so these are them as of today. The 2 little ones have the leafy Sativa straggler look starting quick.

Howdy ALL 420 peoples ...

April 7th and they have finally hit pre flower/ flower stage. Little pistils popping out everywhere and all the tops getting ready to breakout.

Take a guest on the amount of days ?? 66 days to show flower and they suggest 58 to 65 of veg. Fucking real close to a bulls eye !!

They are at 14 / 10 light cycle and will wait 10 to 14 days to push them to 12 / 12. Also have been staggering the nuit's back and forth between the Nitrogen to P K amounts.

Will start pulling out N and focus on P & K. I also have all 4 LED'S plus the Cobb LED hitting them at around 18 inches. It is still really cool at night letting in air from the trap door. Maintains the temp around 81 to 85 and humidity is pushing 44 to 48.

With them being 2 to a pot and these numbers they are sucking water and feed. NO ISSUE with over watering.

Also you may see a empty pot that is half full of medium. That is my compost pot and if you are picking off lower leaves as they grow. Plus have many plants or just one. All those leaves are full of nuit's and CalMag and for what they cost. It is stupid to throw away. Once they dry out they crumble up into dust and help feed you next grow. Quick tip !!

Well here they are and looking VERY Happy if I may say !!

Those are the 2 Chemdog's and below are the 2 Sativa's. They just got tied down and look a little scraggly but for some reason Sativa's always look wiry and whipped compared to a full Indica.

Also have the video and will be back in a week or so. Vimeo also so many bits or they charge you to upgrade. But the free upload works out to a video a week so fuck it. I works out perfectly with how they are growing.

Hope All is GREEN in your worlds and it was worth the wait to get to this point.

love your work bro

These are a few from earlier today of the Chemdog's. I also laid out the 2 smaller Sativa's to train them a bit. They were looking a bit ruff but will get over it !! I will let them stay tied for two weeks and they will spread out nicely.

I wished I had more time to play with them, but a silver lining is you find how easily they react to you. And it doesn't take much to coheres or manipulate them. But they do remind you that you are the one growing. And they know what to do all by themselves.

Thanks for stopping by
