A Lotta Ins, A Lotta Outs, A Lotta Strands In The Old Duder's Head: Urban Grows Mad Stanky Dabs

I did a thorough cleaning of my reservoir and most of the lines / jewelry. Some buildup was occurring and figured it’s best to keep things clean.

I used some of my hydrogen peroxide solution to disinfect whatever was there. A lot of foaming / bubbling going on. H2O2 is an oxidizing agent, and kills bacteria, viruses, and fungi. It was killing something.

I also flushed the pots with a few litres of water each, using the shop-vac to suck up the water in the trays. I did this twice. Intention was to remove excess BS.

I will let them dry out a bit. Maybe overnight again. Before hooking the reservoir back up and feeding them some fresh food.

I will save you the blow by blow but here is the short version:

Some spray paint was used in my basement to paint a light fixture today. My 350 cfm fan is cycling the entire basements air through my tent. Basement reeked like paint when I went down and saw it. Shut off my fan, opened the doors, and set up a oscillating fan to air out the basement. I would say 30 minutes of time elapsed between the painting and my intervention. Is my crop now coated in poison? The chemicals and BS in the air would have undoubtedly contacted the sticky buds.

Hopefully you caught it just in time. Most paints and resins contain a solvent that when evaporates from your solution (paint) is what causes it to "dry" or set. Typically a volatile organic compound(VOC) is used. But that is a very encompassing category.... some vocs are relatively harmless some can cause blindness with a few drops on your skin! Good news is the definition of volitility in a substance is the tendency to evaporate and typically those solvents are far less effective in vapor form and have less affinity to dissolve

Yeah it would suck to have my crop ruined at the end of week 5 of flower.

Damn that would really suck. Hope it is all good still! Your plants look great still.

Yes it would. I won't suspect this will be the case... but I've been wrong plenty of times. Safe bet is send some off to testing after harvest if possible. Honestly its a matter of exposure time and strength of aresol. If its a heavy hydrocarbon which is most likely the case as propane and butane are much "lighter" alkanes, it should be okay. And remember I'm not a chemist, I only play an alchemist on TV....

Biggest indicator will be the plants. If they look pissed that's not a good sign if they chug on with they're beautiful selves id say your safe and you can always test to be sure.

Still sucks. But I think it'll be okay!

First, good on you to think of this! Now here's what I'm thinking. Paint is in the air by the time it gets to the tent. It's also pretty dry and would have gone down as dust by then, even freshly sprayed in minute one. Is it water base? If it doesn't contact something and gaggle up, it's not going to adhere to anything, just dry in the air. With that thought in mind, by the time it's in the tent all dry it likely went through and into the fan.
Washing buds might make sure there's no/less dust on them.
You were breathing the air in the room while painting so it's in your lungs already. The question is, will combusting what's left after a wash be unhealthy? I think you'll be ok but I've lived in an industrial setting for my career and may be a little not sensitive so it is a serious thing you have to figure out. I would go for it.

As I eluded to. I mixed up some Remos food last night. Probably 1/4 strength for this transition to flower. Gave a bit over the top. Lights off here shortly and they will get another good foliar.

I raised the net by a few inches. Can’t really tell though.

Look at this growth. Insane. I don’t have much room for these colas to get much bigger than 2 feet.
Hey Urb......I am back and catching up brother. Wow....your ladies are looking amazing brother.

Be careful with the Stankberry growth, they are insanely vigorous growers and stretchers. Should be an amazing show! :high-five: :passitleft:

Less than two days they grew 3”. They are now at 27” from soil. The stretch is on. Beasting out.
I gave them a few gallons of plain water last night to dilute any remaining nutrients in the reservoir. I will unhook it, clean it, and replace it with fresh mixed stuff tonight.
These are days away from needing a topping to prevent them from reaching the light.

LOL.....looks like you are getting the Stank Stretch. They are looking amazing brother!

I'm pretty sure Van had to grow one of his Stankberries with the main cola between the lights, so you're in good company! Nice rails for 4 weeks. :thumb:
That I did!!! Actually both of the 2nd round were grown through the lights.

It’s not that I ignore advice or don’t want to listen lol, I listen but store the information. I was told so many times by different people, “the Stankberry stretches crazy”. I have little growing experience so my memory slides of stretch were non- existent.

This is where my storing of information and “lets see how they do” mentally slammed into each other.

I think my living organic soil, under watering, and LED experience; combined with indica or hybrid genetics, led me to have a certain amount of possible stretch in my mind. Manageable but challenging.

Then you add the autopots, nutrients, and 315W CMH...which changes the entire grow...and you get me kicking myself for having plants too big lol.

It’s not exactly a bad problem to have but my anxiety isn’t benefiting.

Seriously sticky and frosty. These would make incredible concentrates. Some thickening up starting.
