hey poetic poet laureate mr ditcher,, a q please,, iffin i might,,

have you ever done any hydro?? any kind,, i saw a video recently, from green house seeds, of a grow , soil vs hydro, no contest,, hydro kicked ass

btw,, the guy doing the video,, one half of the 'strain hunters', ever heard of em?? anyhoo, he just died, maybe from malaria

strainhunters is a video series bout these two guys who are hunting out landrace strains all over the world,, he died filming in the congo

was wierd, i watched the video the other day,, then went back to check it again and was redirected to a memorial page,,

so i am looking into dwc,, deep water culture, a bucket an airpump and stone, some clay marbles, some nutes, and apparently that's it,,,,,that's it

dont even need to touch it after that,, puts itself together and everything,, plants itself, all done,, least i think i read that

curious if you have ever tried or looked into it,, cheers friend,,

i no it
b a po it

Lol puts itself together you crack me up. I dont know about ditch but I wanna try dwc as well. It really does not seem that complicated. I have also seen how fast the plants grow and some very very veryyyy healthy roots on those set ups. Plus all that oxygenated h20 going straight to the roots along with the nutes.....definitely gonna give it a try soon.

By the way that strainhunters guy dying from malaria that's crazy. He gave his life trying to find the perfect genes for us to indulge in and try to perfect.. May he R.I.P

Soil v hydro..hydro kicked arse.. depends on what we are measuring. If only what comes out of medium, yes it would.. holistically would show a different outcome.. not that many care for these numbers, but they shouldn't be ignored if we are putting together a comparison..

Damn, it's a shame to hear about one of the Strain Hunters contracting Malaria. I grew one of their Landrace strains a couple of grows ago (White Strawberry Skunk) and was impressed with the size of the buds produced, I've since crossed them with Incredible Bulk and they're growing nicely now. I always found their videos to be amusing as well as informative, I'll smoke a fat one in their honour.

Rosie is looking beautiful Ditchweed, fantastic :thumb:

well,, ok then, so be it,, there ya go,, like you said, yep, all righty then,, you betcha,,

me, not being you, but me, can not ever know 'exactly' what is going on inside yer brain when you write things down,, so it is possibly understandable that i might not know completely exactly what you mean by that, maybe

depends on what we are measuring indeed, exactly, for sure,, well said,, agree

i was actually referring to a over four fold increase in harvest, nugs as big as tugs, is what i was actually referring to, is all

That's what I meant by what comes out the medium.. yep, big tight arse nugs.. I wouldn't even know what goes on inside my brain... just thoughts of a bigger sustainable picture.. but it'd be somewhat an environmental and chemical influence... environmental would be an outdoor growers mentality, chemical would be wanting to be healthy, yet with economic reality I'm in and reality I live, surrounded by cheaper quicker easier options that are taken.. sorry, I get 'weird' sometimes.. Hypocrite am I.. but I try in my indoor garden, certified product (sustainable economy), low watt grow, yet whilst smaller plants, still nice. With a little more strain knowledge, more plants in better location of tent, should get the same out of the grow. Can only fill a tent with so many flowers, you know? kinda what I was thinking, I think, not sure, can't remember

The answer is 42.

your both right, just depends how you get there, soil or hydro..

My mate grows Hydro and I grow soil all the time, I try for as organic as I can get mainly, although I'm thinking of comparing half and half with the remainder of my Advanced Nutrients chemicals just for the crack as I've got a lot more plants than I usually would have at the moment thanks to my friend dropping me 16 clones. I think there are certain differences that are there irrespective of yield though which I rate in the order of Hydro = best yield and Organic = lowest yield, with a chemical grow in between.

That tells a big part of the most visible differences but I see why there are other differences to consider. For instance if you grow chemically and don't flush there's a good chance that although that weed will be doing its business it's probably going to taste rank. I grew with chemicals first and always thought this flavour profile of weed was a load of bollox because I'd been smoking weed for 30 years and...that's where the experience ends, I'd smoked crap weed for 30 years, this is an island where it's illegal and the only time weed was classed as bad weed was when it stank of diesel from the way it had been shipped over. Lungs coughing up black in the morning because we'd still pay for it, it was all we could get.

After growing some organically grown though the flavour difference was immense, I knew what people meant when they said "it smells fruity, or like lemon", because I'd never experienced that before, ever not even when visiting places abroad where it was available (never America so far but there's plenty of time yet, if they let me in after being done for possession of cannabis, around a 16th of an oz lol). Now funnily enough this is where me and my mate can actually compare, you see he grows for commercial purposes and wants those big buds that sell great...and have done for 30 years that I know of and longer before I reckon. But, he only wants them to sell. When it comes to smoking weed he'll trade me his for mine with a bonus all day long as he prefers the fact that I can tell him which is daytime and which is nighttime weed (he could do this himself with hydro but it's only a cash cow to him, trichs are up trees are down), but also because he loves the flavour of weed in it's bare natural form. I think Hydro takes a lot of that flavour away, although he does know that there are flavourings available for hydro growing. Not too sure I want Strawberry flavoured weed though knowing that it's more chemicals in my body when I'm aiming healthy.

I'm not sure if there's an end to this wall of text as I'm pretty hammered on daytime meds at 2:25am and feeling creative, probably out of control but when the fingers roll I have to let the words free their soul, yeah see what I mean?

Tldr: I reckon there is a lot more to what's coming out of Hydro and out of soil, but one only has to know their own needs as to which way they'll go when growing. We can support them or think they're mad...but isn't everyone? Here's to another fat reef in honour of the Strain Hunter :passitleft: :thumb:

Mainlining is for the patient or those that are short of room, it's a big yield though. Check out Light Addict's fluxing thread which is supposed to be along the same trains of thought, 20oz from the one plant. It's definitely for the patient though :thumb:
