A 420 & Seedsman Collaboration Ft. Banana Jealousy by WakkaDerpin, Comparative 2024

27 days since seed.
Temp 75 humidity 50-60%
watering when dry (3 days) ph 6.4
10ml guano per gallon has been applied for a single watering

Two days after topping growth has developed on nodes 3 and 4.
Lolipop performed. The amount removed during lolipop can be seen at the base of the plant.
One day later

I noticed you still have 3 nodes. Are you taking the nodes in stages?

There are two nodes. I'll leave any fan leaves If I can while pruning the lower for the possibility of nutrient leeching. If she decides to go immobile deficient, The lower leaves will start showing signs first while the remaining of the plant seems healthy as she starts to leech nutrients from them. Also giving more time for correction.

So the one I marked in red is not really a node? Just a fan leaf?

Yep, just a fan leaf. I removed the stem and left the leaf
Cool, I never even considered doing that. Too bad my lower fan leaf looks like it needs cut off anyway… lol
We will see what it looks like when the time comes.

32 days total. Veg day 7
Temp 75F +/- humidity 55% +/-
Watering h2o ph 6.4

A few days after pruning

I have started to train them. Using bailing wire I've lightly bent the upper branches into more of a T shape. Its important to do this early as they will stiffen up and possibly split later.

They are looking mmmmmahvelous. :)

Additional notes;
You may notice a slight curling or drooping of the leaf tips on the plant located front middle, this may be due to watering or a possible phosphorus deficiency. Now that we are watering ph 6.4 and will continue to water only when dry it should sort itself out. Therefore I'm going to ignore it for now. We will know for sure in a few days if she starts to decay, however this is unlikely as the remaining four plants show no signs. I'll post an update then :bong:

For the Banana tree to go outside this year I've done something a little different
20240328_225243.jpg

Starting with one node. These two branches will be topped at 4-6" in length. Lolipoped to one node. Lst by hardlining. Repeat.
I'll perform this process multiple times to produce the skeletal structure of a small tree.

Day 33
No change to environment or watering

Up is before training today.
Down is after
