707 Headband: A Joint Venture With Nobodyhere And Mr. Magoo!

Got home today and the tap root was turning brown. Pulled the shell off and there were no cotyledons present. Put another seed in paper towels. This time folded in wet paper towels and put in a large ziploc bag to prevent over drying.

Unlucky brother. If it was me tho I'd dump my seeds in a jar of water for the night somewhere nice and warm. Give then 24hours till you see the tap root. Just to guarantee a quick germination.

After that I'd use the tissue and zip lock bag but wrap the tissue into a tee towel. This will provide some extra air and room to breath whislt it's sealed of. The girl needs oxygen.

Good luck with the next girl

Not sure how I overlooked this until now. :hmmmm:
LoL... I even remember reading posts when y'all were planning this deal. #spacecase

But, of course, I'm in!

Welcome Preston!

I was wondering if the soil I drenched with transplant for the Headband will still be fine to put the new seed in after it pops? My thinking was put some roots powder in the hole and just a little plain water since the soil already has the tp drench in it. Is that acceptable ya think?

I put my last seed in water this morning. Hopefully we have a winner. We will see. Fingers crossed!

Is this #3 or ?

I germinate by dropping in a glass of water till it sinks, then wrapping in a wet paper towel with the same water till I get a couple mm, then into seed starter about 3-4mm under a lightly packed surface.

I assume your doing the same thing from what I have read....

I need to go roll a nice blunt before the evening rain hits...

I’ve had the 2nd one in a paper towel since the other day with no action so I dropped the 3rd one in water this morning.

Maybe try to scuff or pop the seed yourself....ive done that using a fingernail file on the high part of the seed.

Damn the luck....

I can vouch for waiting for the beans to drop in water :) it softens the shell up, I usually keep it in a glass for 24 hours. Ive even had beans pop their taproot whilst in the water and they transplanted with no worries.
THats what I’m hoping for at this point. Lol

Just read this last page so far, like to mention to make sure paper towels and such don't have bleaching agents and the like that might still be present from production. Not a threat to humans but can kill seeds. Lost quite a few vegetable seeds that way one year. Real vegetables, not euphemistic ones. ;)

Ok. Had a bit of root showing this afternoon so in the soil with a little roots powder she went. The other bean that never cracked....I cracked it with some pliers and threw it in the pot too. Not sure if it will do anything but if it does we can deal with options then. Lol.
