happy growing every1;)

Mine have stayed dry enough to not mold! Glad you stopped it before it got your whole plant.

Peaceful blazing...

Never underestimate mould. Just dont get too complacent. As i have learned from this year prevention is better than cure and i could have possibly doubled my crop if i had put measures in place. I also had problems with powdery mildew but was able to keep that under control early on. Again, lesson learned for next year is to start spraying lightly with h2o2 solution to stop it from happening. Going to look at another couple of spots soon to see how suitable they are for growing next year. Will also top all my plants with the exception of a couple and see how much more they yield. Although this may increase time to harvest i will start earlier next year and perhaps get a couple of small cfl's to start indoors helping them grow a bit quicker, and the added advantage of topping will mean 2 main smaller colas than 1 large 1 but less chance of budrot as they are smaller in size.

Hey beast, your big girls are looking great and I am loving the solo cups, good lad, I have had to close my grow and wont be starting up for a while which has pi**ed me off like you wouldn't believe, was really looking forward to having my own bud again but it looks like I will have to buy the shit thats on the street and when I say its shit it really is compared to your own.
Enjoy the bank holiday mate

Need some advice guys. Hope beast doesnt mind my asking here. Looking to harvest my lost coast hashplant in the next couple of days. Gonna try keep it in the dark for 36-48 hours but can i fully defol the fan leaves before-hand or should i just wait till i come to harvest? Some crispy and yellow leaves were taken off and the rest still have a bit of green in them.

I have heard that leaving it in the dark at the end has no real effect on it, just ppl's minds thinking it produced more trichomes when there was already hundreds of thousands already there lol. but I guess I would just wait until the trichomes showed all milky white atleast before harvest I think that is probly the most important not to chop to early.

those plants look awesome beast , they came along very quick it seems just counting from the time they started actually flowering...
I think I could have given my first auto grow a little more nutes but now I know for next time how much they like cuz it has been awhile for me to grow and I didn't want to give too much I guess.

Great job on your and upcoming harvest! I bet u cant wait to try the blue! ;)

I agree with BlackThumbs on this one. I have done 48 hours of dark with about half of mine. In the cases where it worked, the plants came out of the dark looking like they were varnished. I don't do this anymore. I don't think, in my opinion, that it increased the potency in a noticeable way, but it did seem to make them "greasy". Even fully cured, they don't seem to feel dry on the outside. I was going to try "shock ripening" on my next chop but have decided against it. My suggestion would be to go ahead and do it. It's all about experimenting. Best of luck.

What is shock ripening?

Have now defol'd the plant and have it sitting in a box on the balcony. I brought it inside last night but the whole flat was reeking of weed. For such a small plant it packs one heck of a smell and has really tight dense nugs. The trich's are all a nice colour with all looking milky and a fair amount of amber.

Another good reason for placing in the dark means that i can chop when i am ready rather than just before sunrise. The general consensus is to chop before sunrise/lights on as once they get light they start their processes and the buds will taste funny. But recently read it best to chop just before sundown/lights off as thc is most potent then. I cant see how that would be possible but am gonna do what i have always done. I would like to do a side by side test one day where i place a plant into darkness for 2-3 days before a chop while the other grows as normal. Be good to get a testing kit for scientific evidence but they cost around £300 so not really any good for a home grower.

Shock ripening is placing the plant in 48 hours of darkness with the pot being chilled. Not frozen but chilled to keep the roots cold. after 48 hours, turn the lights on for 2 hours then chop. The idea is that the cold and dark causes the plant to "protect" itself by increasing resin production and the light are because hydraulic pressure is greatest in the 2 hours after lights on. It is believed that this will drive "goodies" into the buds right before they are chopped. I have not tried it, but I don't care for the outcome of the 48hours of dark so I doubt I ever will.

lookin great beast as always. Been reading all your work and i have started my very first grow. Hopefully 9 and if im really lucky 10 CKS trainwreck autos. Im planning on topping as i see your great results. Also i work 12 hr shifts and prefer the top and feed method over constantly retieing as time is always a factor. I got a journal started but am only a few days in, but i got 6 ladies already pokin there heads.. Super excited.. I owe all my auto knowledge to u my friend. Keep up the good work, might even make a gardener out of me yet.
Cheers
