Drive by. Just my 2 cents,,, if you really want color, drop temps to the root zones. Either ice water at night or afew chunks of ice ontop the soil will help. Years back I tried blasting my weed with ice cold propane. I'd hold up a pretty bud then spray it and it will change to some pretty colors. Keepem Green, or Purple if that's what you want......................

Hey Norcal,

Have you ever tried shock ripening? I plan on trying it with my Buddha Haze Auto in about 3 weeks. You place them in the 48 hours of darkness, which is a method many people are aware of, the difference is that you place the pot in an an ice chilled container (not freezing the pot solid, just chilling it very cold) then turn the lights on 2 hours before you chop.
Chilling makes the plant think she is in a freeze, which tricks here into bulking up on Trichomes and oils for protection. The 2 hours of light is supposed to cause her to drive anything left into the flowers. I've done the 48 hours of dark, but have never tried it with the "shock" variable.

Lazarus - you cant ever go by the times stated by seedbanks from seed to harvest. Perhaps some can be done in 60-70 days but not likely. I got autos that were supposed to take 70 days - by the time i chop next week it will be in excess of 120 days so dont worry if they take longer than time stated, just need to be patient. I cant do photos here as they flower too late to finish even with the "quick" strains so it autos for me. Autos started april/may will be ready july/august so will avoid the cold/wet/damp conditions.

I had one go 16 weeks. Breeders notes said 60-65 days. It was my first auto and i thought i was doing it wrong. Lol Then i thought maybe it went long because it was in dwc. Do any of you know if the style of grow ie: soil, hydro, etc has any effect whatsoever on duration of grow time
As we all know breeder times suck. But you may have something there about different grow styles. I had two of Medicann's Kush Fromage Autos which breeder says 35-45 days that grown in 3 gallon pots went 65 days. The same strain in a 5 gallon DWC went 105 days and produced over twice what the ones grown in soil. But I have to wonder if that might have been affected by the difference in the size of the root zone, i.e. 3 gallon fabric pot versus 5 gallon bucket. Would be interesting to try two at the same time, one in a 5 gallon pot and one in DWC, same lights, nutes, grow area, and see what happens.

I have enough auto seeds i could run the experiment, i just can't talk myself into bringing dirt back into my tent. My skills are definitely dwc leaning. I had nothing but trouble in soil.
I can say though that i have seen several journals, here and elsewhere, on I autos in soil and they look nothing like the same strains i grew in dwc.
Anyone have enough spare room, spare parts and spare seeds to try a side by side grow? I would love to see the differences and similarities journaled.
Thanks, gentlemen, for your input.

Soil is magic for plants for sure.some autos differ from there seed info.gota consider diffrent phenos each plant had its own dna.all will be slightly diffrent in some way.but they will flower on their own as stated autoflower.so still get what u pay for.loads of diffrent autos out there to suit any grower of all kinds.i like big strong autos i dont care how long they take to finish each plant has its own character i love it hence why i always have variety in my tent always autos mainly.there great and match most photo plants so all is good.happy growing every1;)

Autoflower is good for us with limited space or if other constraints prevent us growing indoor. Being outdoor geurilla style means getting a crop in a season that may not be possible or more difficult doing photos.

The autoflower has come a long way in the past 5-7 years when at that time there were all sorts of problems with autos. Now they have bred them to high standards where few problems exist. I agree with the choice you can get and will do as well as any photo. Kushtie on here does autos in NFT and gets huge results - 400g+ from some of them. His product is always very nice as i have tried it, and he kindly donates trim for me to make bubble. That is always banging as well.

A quick question for some of you guys. As some of you will know i have 2 plants on my balcony and are due for the chop next week. A lot, actually nearly all of the fan leaves are yellow and some have gone a bit crispy. The crispy ones have been removed as they will serve no further purpose as they are dead! Some of the yellow ones are not crispy but with a gentle tug are not coming off. My question is should i just remove all of these yellow fan leaves anyway or just wait till they crisp up a bit and come off with a gentle tug? I am leaving on those leaves which are still green and any within the buds themselves as they will still supply the buds with some food.

Sorry to hijack your thread beast, hope you dont mind. It just you have a lot more people here so more likely to get a reply.

So just remove them all in one go? Rip them off or cut them off with scissors? Anything that has a bit of green i will leave until they get more yellow. Gave them a last feed of plain water yesterday and am planning to leave them now till next week, no more water at all which should mean they will use anything that is available to them and help dry them out a bit making them dry quicker once hung.
