600W LED Grow

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

Yes, it can really be true. All of the electrical inputs are going to be converted to some sort of EMR [ElectroMagneticRadiation] output. That part of the EMS that we can see [400-700nm], we call light. The part of the spectrum immediatly after 700nm [short and far IR] that we cannot see with our eyes but can with our skin [we 'see' it as felt heat] is mostly wasted on the plants as they transmit in the IR, that is give of heat [metaboliclly]. The difference between LEDs and any HID is that the LEDs have been engineered to illuminate only in the frequencies that plants use, what is referred to as PAR, between 400-700nm whilst the HIDs output alot of their EMR in the infrared, thus wasting energy from a plant's energy perspective [inefficient output]. Cost efficiency, as WOF likes to point out, is another matter.

thank you for this good post! +rep:thumb:

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

These LED's produce so little heat you probably don't even need to vent it out ..and if you're growing indoors with them ... (obviously) the super-small heat footprint is probably welcome in a smaller grow cabinet.

This new panel does put out a bit more heat than some of the others. I'm hoping that is because its putting out more PAR!

LED's run really hot too otherwise you wouldn't have the huge heatsinks and fans...just like your processor on your computer...without them the processor lasts a few hours. FYI never put your laptop on a pillow or anything that covers up the airvents as it will over heat before the kids finish watching their movie...same with those panels no air circulation and they go ppffffttt! Don't forget this is 600w too not a dinky UFO!

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

Thanks for the added info gentlemen, and bmarduk I understand now how it's possible, thanks. As for btu's we could probably calculate it based on room size and temperature increase over an hour but it would require a closed system grow I think as venting in this case would throw it off; ahh hopefully manufactures will just start adding the rating to their spec sheets even if it's not exact.

Haha that's no joke as I sit here in bed typing I have to keep the laptop (65w processor) at an angle so the vents are clear (why the put the vents on the bottom are beyond me), else she heats up like a mofo and the loud fan kicks into overdrive, especially if doing anything remotely taxing (youtube video).

ya ive learn that the hard way. RIP my laptop.lol

alright guys heres the pics of the end on day 28 of veg and the start of day 1 of flowering. the leaves arnt really that yellow and dull its just the way the camera makes them look with the flash on mixed with the led light. now lets let the games begin and see what kind of buds this bad boy can produce

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

Looking good irish.

I notice the same curl to some of the leaf tips, particularly affecting the middle fingers on the hands, that I see on my LED plants.

It's just at the tip of the leaves and is maybe due to some effect from the LED light.

Doesn't appear to be damage or indicate anything bad, just something weird.

On my plants, the middle fingers on some of the fan leaves develop a tension that is released by either the tip curling downward or less frequently, upwards.

I thought it might be specific to the strain I'm growing, but after seeing the same thing on your plants, I'm thinking it has more to do with the LED's.

It's not the same as the leaf curl you get with nute and PH problems.

that is a very good point. i was just looking at my older led grows and notice the same thing. its weired because ive never had that with CFL or HID that i can remember? i never thought about looking at your grow or others to see if the same thing was happing. i always just thought it was a strain thing? but like you said doent seem to effect the plant at all, that ive ever noticed?
good eye SS.

ok so heres a update: i just looked at all kinds of different led grows posted and they all seem to do this. everyone of them i looked at. kinda weired, wonder why this happens?

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

I'm not sure I understand exactly the symptom you and SS are speaking of here Irish. Can you select out one picture for reference for the other LED people to compare it too. Maybe if we get broad enough based results as to it happening or not, we can determine why it is happening, or not.

Looking sweet man!!!! Wish I could +rep ya! This is the best thus far bro! I been following along with you for months!

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

Nice looking plants Irish, those plants are going to get pretty big. I cant wait to see what this LED does with some large plants. Everything on my end is small scale. Everything on your end is large scale. Large plants, large pots, LARGE ASS LIGHT! This thing better woo us all because its about time we find a cure for the common LED. :peace:

first off thanks for the kind words.

here is a pic to show you what SS and I were talking about . see how the leafe tip is curling down.

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

I haven't had any of it before on my grows, so it looked "wrong" to me, but I haven't grown many different strains, so it may be just a common thing that the strains I've grown didn't do.

In any case, I never implied that anything was wrong, just something I found curious.

thanks for researching it irish, I appreciate it ;)

it was a good eye bro. ive never paid attion to this in the past. but it seems to be normal from all the resacrch i did. could be a strain thing? either way good looking out for keeping me posted and letting me know about things that may not look 100% right on my plants or look odd to you. things like this could really save my ass and my girls just incase i missed something or didn't see something wrong with my girls. thanks for really looking over my pics.

Mine are doing it to. More so the Purple Kush than the Skywalker OG. The Kush got twisted and bumpy while the Skywalker just got bumpy.
