5 OG's, Medic Grow Fold 8 LED, Prescription Blend Nutrients & Me!

You are diligent about it mucker.
I cringe when I see the pile of leaves you have take from each lady.
But you make it work so that's great.
I used to defol like you as per some articles I read on a different site.
One grow I was under the weather and unable to defol.
My harvest was almost double my monthly average defoling.
After that I do a light clean up underneath before flipping and just let them be.
Then I run what she brung.hehe
I'm glad this works for you and obviously your pretty dam good at it.
I always enjoy your work my friend.
Stay safe.

Theres many, like SO many factors regarding defoliation. And there is as much ppl saying I yielded 2x times more when I didn’t plug a single leave during the growth as ppl who swears hand on the bible that defoliation will increase the yield.

So no doubt you harvested almost two times more than you avg would. But I would say it just wasn’t only for not defoling your plants.

Im running an experiment right now and Im also trying not to plug a single leave from the plant and see whats the result. Ive got ”a general idea” what each sized plant could yield by looking.
It is pretty close to the last photoperioid which will be compared to this one. Photo were heavy defoliated and scrogged - yielded 120g / 4oz, so interested to see if the current auto can get anywhere close to that.

But see, there was already bunch of factors which affects on its usefulness.
Hopefully u get me. Not tryna talk u down or anything brother! :)

Just to be clear, I don't for a minute claim that the way I lollipop before flip or thin post stretch will increase harvest weight. I don't need to harvest more off my plants.

I do it to drive bud growth to the tops and eliminate as much larf as possible. Not because there is anything wrong with larf...I just hate hate hate trimming it!

I totally get it. My angle wasn’t maybe the best one to approach.

Doubtless theres many other benefits as well as for example exposing more bud sites for the light in advantage to get more connected and denser buds.

Case isn’t always to maximize yields, I admit that.

Everyone finds a method that works for them eventually.
Sure there were other factors in my results, I agree.
I'm not knocking defol techniques just saying I found a method I like that doesn't involve it.
Lots do it with success and that's great for them.
The best way to grow is what ever works for you.
And Buds Buddy's method works for him so it's the right one. :thumb:
Happy growing Everyone.

OK, So yesterday I trimmed up the "SKYWALKER OG". I tried to take less off. To me.... It doesn't look all that trimmed up. But, I think this might be how it's suppose to be done. I'll ask.... What do you guys think ? Too much, too little, about right ? I never have been good at this defol thing. Kind of like when I'm driving... Pedal to the Metal & Heel to the Steel. I know I'm over doing it, but it gets hard to stop once I'm moving.
Anyway, let's post some pics. Here is the "SKYWALKER OG"

And this morning I trimmed up the "OG-1". Not sure why she seems to be so much smaller than the others. Maybe just the strain. I kind of wonder how things will fill in because the "FIRE OG" is a Sativa Dominant Hybrid. She's already the tallest plant by 6".
So here's some pics of the "OG-1".

Plants are all filling out nicely. Since removing the Humidifier from the tent my RH is now at 32% Lights on & 45% Lights off. I may not need my dehumidifier until the plants start getting really bushy. I have my Tent AC set on 77F so my Lights on Temps run 75 - 79F & Lights off temps get down to 73F. So Temps & RH are about where they need to be for Flower. I'm currently feeding Week 2 Flower nutes which is just increasing the Big Data by 1 ml. per gal. I'll be staying at Week 2 until the stretch is over. Really considering flipping to 12/12 this Sunday. I'm going to try the 80% position on the light again. Sure hope the girls like it this time. 3rd times a charm they say.
Sure wish I wouldn't have Super Cropped the Re-Veg. Looks like something that got tore up by a deer. Live & Learn !
Thing is.... I knew better. I liked the way it looked prior to Super Cropping... but did it anyway. Duh !!!
Well, time to Feed & Rotate the plants again.

Hey, @InTheShed How about you posting a link to your LST guide in this journal ? Might help some of us out. I'm always up for others posting links to growing tips that we are talking about at the time. Obviously don't need Hydro, Coco or SCROG growing tips as none of that is happening here.

Hey, @InTheShed How about you posting a link to your LST guide in this journal ?
I'd be happy to! It's also in my sig along with links to my other informative threads and my perpetual grow journal:

I've had the light on 80% for 2 days now. Leaves don't look as bad as the last time I tried it. Still just a slight taco to them; but not much. But the leaves are starting to get light in color with that chlorosis look again which happens every time I go to 80%. All that went away when I went back down to 60% last time. At this point I'm perplexed at what I'm doing wrong or if it's the light. I'm leaning toward the light since it only happens when I bump it up to 80%. I need to check out some other grows done with this light to see if others are having any issues. If you know of a grow with this exact same light please let me know of it. Thanks !
I did start 12/12 today & the Re-Veg is back in the tent. Pics on my next feed day.

Is there a way to gradually turn the light up a few percent at a time?
No, & that part is the one thing I don't like. It goes 40, 60, 80, 100%. You can't go 60, 65, 70, 75%. Have to jump 20% at a time. I'm use to starting at 50% & increasing 5% every 7 days or so with all my other lights. Maybe it's my inexperience with lights of this type that increase like this. Maybe after a week or so under 80% they will be use to it (or I could end up with a disaster). I'm going to push it with the 80% & up my nute intake slightly to see if that helps. Maybe there's more photosynthesis going on at 80% & the plants are requiring stronger nutes. I really don't know the answer.... yet.

Ouch, that does make it trickier to dial in.
You may need to lower the light height, and do a combination of increasing the light.

Start with the highest intensity they take right now.
Lower the light closer slowly day by day.
Then raise the light height, turn it up next notch.

And start the lowering process again.

Kinda harden them off in stages?
Best I can come up with, hopefully it'll spark an idea.

Small changes to the distance from canopy to light are the best way to change the light intensity like that. Light intensity decreases rapidly with distance so a small change can give you that few% your looking for. Once you get it adjusted I think it will work out. Do you have this light in an area that is the size recommended? It seems like it could handle lighting up a larger area! Having extra power is better then the alternative....

It says the coverage area is 4x4 & it's only being used in 1/2 of my 4x8 tent. Raising & lowering the light that much would be a PITA. The Dimmer switch is on the open door side of the tent. Therefore, the hangers are in the front & rear of the tent. I have to remove all plants to raise or lower the light; so don't want to do that too often. Bar lights seem to be better to hang & leave & just use the dimmer switch due to the room they take up. To be honest, unless this light produces Colas like on my Mars Grow, I'll be going back to Mars. Not their bar lights but the TS &TSW Series. So far nothing has topped them.

You can refer to our installation guide for adjusting of the hanger:

Hey all, sorry I haven't done an update. I got the Covid Booster Shot Monday & have been sick with the Chills & Sweats ever since. Feels like it's going away now; but still feel under the weather. Seems each shot gets me even sicker then the previous one. I should feel good enough to update things by the weekend.
