5 Gallon Buckets

Plants look ok but just curious if my lights are to far away. I have a 600w LED viparspectra light in a 3’ * 3’ * 63’ tent. I am running my lights 20 hours on 4 off right now and plants are about a inch high.

Started seeds on the 24th of June. After looking at the plant growth the last couple days I decided to drill some holes in the temporary containers to let more oxygen into the soil it seems like the containers might be holding to much moister. temperature in the tent is at 80 degrees and humidity at 25% right now. I have three fans running right now one is in the tent to circulate air another is pulling air into the tent and the third is the exhaust fan. I will check the plants later today to see if I notice and difference in plant growth.

You want your lights 3 feet away minimum. Those are little babies. They need very little. I assume your lights are switched to veg?

You might want to think about planting them into your 5 gallon buckets in the next week or so. From what I've read they don't like to be transferred. A lot of people put them straight into the final pots after they've germinated.

I should have done that with mine but after seeing so many videos it seemed like a lot of growers were planting in smaller containers at first then transferring them later. I am new to this so I am watching the plants and trying to figure out if there is to much or not enough of something.

They look good. They need very little at this point. It's all about root development. Prepping the pots for transfer is what you should be reading up on now. Other than root stimulant they don't need anything other than air, water, and light. All in moderation. Use the same size cup they are planted in to make the hole you will stick them in. Cut the cup away from the soil and gently lay it in. Tamp it down a bit and cover it over with soil. You want the plant to stick out about two inches from the first leaf. Anything below that in soil will become root.

I like buckets. My first grow started with buckets. Then it went to fabric pots as well. The plants love them, and I'm glad the same suggestion was made to you. I still see some journals that have very successful grows but I think there's more risk to a bucket for novice growers. I'm going to hang around and join the other knuckleheads here to watch your grow.

:goodluck:

July 3rd plants are starting to take off now.

fertilized with big boom last night and the plants really perked up. I put 1 teaspoon of big boom in a two liter water bottle to see how the plants do with that seem to be doing good.

Thinking about transplanting into bigger pots this weekend but not sure if the plants are big enough yet. I will see how the plants look in four days.

Just topped the Tangerine dream this morning the candy Cush is not there yet. Picture is before topping. Sorry about the lighting I am growing in 7 gallon pots so don’t want to move around a whole lot right now. the second picture is after topping. img 262. By the way this is day 16.

July 11th 2018
Just checked the PH level of soil and both plants are running at 6.0 ph level. The plant with the stick in it is the tangerine dream auto flower and the other is the candy kush auto flower. what kind of water do people use for watering? I am using drinking water but wonder if I should be using something different.

Well folks this is day 18 and the plants are really taking off. I topped the Tangerine about a week ago and the plant just exploded. I didn't top the Candy Kush after some stuff I read about auto's and not topping them so we will see how it goes.
Soil ph 6.0. Tent temp during light hours 80 degrees and and at bed time 78. If anyone notices something that doesn't look right please don't hesitate to say something this is my first grow.

soil is at about 3 to 4 on my meter for moisture about 4" down but the bottom of container is a little higher. Added 16oz of water to each to see how they react.
