480W & 720W LED Grow - Land of Clovers

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

yup.. are you using SS#4 too? seen you asking about dolomite lime... and i havent added any i gotta order it they dont sell that shit anywhere near me..i give my plants in SS#4 5ml per gallon of cal-mag 2.5ml per gallon of GH FloraNova grow and 1ML of dyna-grow protekt silica..it comes out to being like around 200 ppm of cal mag and 250 of Grow total PPM reading after both mixed is about 550-600.. this is what i use to start off my clones then work my way up as they get bigger

mix the silica 1st, and watch that PH with it. i would feed every other watering IMO. its all about the seaweed my friend, but i think FN has seaweed in it? keep the pics coming on here bro i like them.

I agree, its real hard to beleive. They have one thats even harder to beleive called "Oracle" I think it said 46% thc, 3 1/2 pounds, and a 33 to 37 day flower period. $800.....I think Ill stick with $500 for now.

producing a strain with those qualities is possibly in theory through careful breeding on a massive scale. Would take decades of growing hundreds of plants per cultivation period with no other purpose than selective breeding of a strain and then making the strain stable.

That being said until I see a few journals using those genetics that support the claims of the breeders I wouldn't believe it... But if i had the cash to throw away I might try it.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

sweet!!! whats ur thoughts on it? never seen the new 2011 395w yet.

It has a couple LEDs on the side I don't know what they are for (one is on the other is off), and I'm not sure yet that my tent is any cooler with it than with my 400w HPS (that only had a regular 120mm PC fan pulling air through its venting)

I'll try and figure out how to make my camera take half decent pics with all the light!

PS: I had some lower leafs on one of the smaller plants start to die for lack of nutes and this light definitely makes those sick/deadish leaves more... obvious/vibrant compared to the (because of the light) purple leaves than under the HPS

PSS: It seems to actually make the inside of my tent hotter than the HPS did (HPS only had a 120mm PC fan pulling air from outside tent through venting and hood and out the top) by a few degrees. It seems to be pretty stable at about 15 degrees above my bedroom temp. But it defniitely throws less heat down towards the plants than the HID did (have to be within an inch or 2 to feel the heat)

if you looked into the leds and it wasnt bright to you, then you might want to get your eys checked bro.lol. they hurt my eyes and ive been around them for a few years now.

not sure about the temp thing i remember Setting Sun say his leds ran cooler then his HID. you have to also remember that the IR heat is whats cut down allot compared to HID witch is what frys ur plants. but he had the older 350w model not the 395w like you.

i have no clue what the leds are on the side? mine dont have that. kinda weired?

i am sure once you get your ventilation dialed in right you will run coller then ur HPS

and yes these lights make our plants look worse then what they do under normal lights when their having troubles. i like that keep me on top of things so i see it faster/better

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Yeah I know it definitely produces less heat than a 400w HPS, but the problem is with the HPS you can easily use venting to remove a lot of the heat. With the LED it blows the heat out the sides, and since I'm growing in a relatively small tent with a filtered exhaust fan that isn't all that powerful, the tent runs about the same temp or maybe a few degrees warmer than the HID. I think below the light it might be cooler than it was with the HID (you have to be about an inch or 2 away to feel heat from the glass with this LED), but above the light its definitely warmer. But the plus side is that it produces less heat overall so I can keep my bedroom window closed and not have to worry about temps continuing to rise while I'm gone.

PS: This is the thingy in the tent
6 x 14 ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER ODOR SCRUBBER 130 CFM | eBay

PSS: The HPS made the inside of the tent warm and by bedroom warm (which made the air going into the tent warm) in a cycle of warming that required me to use air conditioning or to leave the window open. This LED seems to only make the tent about as warm (maybe 2-3 degrees warmer) than the HID, but it isn't making my bedroom warm so I can keep the window closed.

i think maybe a fan down low blowing up would make it allot more cooler like setting sun and i do. but i will be honest i think ur fan is too small for ur tent, your fan should extract the air 2x per min in ur tent. so my tent is 100cft and my fan is 200cfm. my tent gets beyond cold with my exhaust, i cant even run it most times. but if i hook up my smaller fan that dosent more the air enough to make my plants thrive it will get hot. the air moving is more for the plants.

it also looks like you over watred ur plants or they dry from the drooping. IMO i would start the light out high for a few days to break the plants in.

PS. that exhaust dosent look that effecent. how many CFT is ur tent?

ya its hard to make things cooler when ur exhausting into the same room and reusing the same heat. not the best way of doing things, i have to do that in one of my rooms and that room will be shut down once it heats up. exhausting out is the best way but not always possibly

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Yeah I did water the big ones this morning but for some reason they didn't perk up as much or as quickly as they did every other time. My tent is only about 43 cubic feet and the fan on the filter is rated at 130, so not accounting for the carbon it should suck all the air out about 3 times a minute, which I thought would be enough but it is more like a computer style fan than the big expensive ones people use. I was thinking of getting a more appropriate/classical fan and filter combo, and then using what I have now for the drying room or something.

Yeah I forgot to make sure it was 2ft high so I'll go adjust it again. I also just got my digital remote thermometer thing working again and its telling me that above the light the tent is about 10-12 above room temp and the classical mystery red fluid temp gauge is saying that below the canopy (its standing on the bottom of the tent) is room temp. How cheap can people get those laser thermometers?

PS: Just raised it to 20 inches, its basically as high as I can go because of how long the metal cord things for the hangers are. May have to make some new ones are mess with them so its easier to raise the light higher.

i will be honest i dont think that fan is worth anything is a grow room, theirs no way it can be as effective as my 4" 135cfm fan i have. i think it would be great for a drying room though. look into the SunCourt inline fans they arnt too much money and work great! the way their designed they move air.

the laser IR lasers are not cheap, search on line and you might find a cheap one or at harbor freight their cheap.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Yeah because the LED throws heat out the sides and thus is difficult to vent outside the tent, the temps are no differen't and my be even a few degrees warmer than with my 400w HPS. I think it will still be better though because won't warm up my whole bedroom like the HPS would, so it should be easier to control. I will definitely be looking into getting a better fan/filter to pull more heat out of the tent.

And for anyone reading this, keep in mind that I only had a regular 120mm PC fan to pull air though my HID set up. And that I probably have a crappy fan pulling air through the filter and out the tent (which is also a little small for this light anyway)

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Thanks to everyone for the seed input. I wont be buying any BC seeds! Does anyone have any suggestions on what stronger strains are? I like berry flavor, rock hard resin covered buds. Dont we all! Im open to all ideas. I did figure out out how to add a link to my photo gallery. Just some random pics, to give you an idea of size, and how my girls have progressed. The pics of the aluminum exhaust system, and proper filter/fan combo, are before and after. Its a 6" combo, when it arrived my wife and I luaghed are asses off, she looked at me and said "were you stoned when you ordered it"? Its huge. (the wardrobe is 40" accross) The fan is a 465cfm unit. I bought a fan switch, and running it in mid to high range and its really quiet. The pics of the buds are from sunday. Thanks again to everybody, especially you Irish, for letting me bastardize your journal. Peace. h armoir_001 - 420 Magazine Photo Gallery
