420's Soil Ppm Charlie Grow Journal, 9/2021

Absolutely!!!

Oh man Charlie! That sounds unbelievable! I thought of you today at Walmart when I almost picked up a Fruity Pebbles cake mix to make with my son (ended up with Cosmic cupcakes instead but....)!! I could go back and look, but who are her parents??
I must correct my last post. When I was looking at the strain info of Fruity Pebbles and it's parental lineage, I found that it is Indica dominant (55%) rather then Sativa (45%) dominant. My mistake. The ones I am growing seem to be more "stalky" (3) then "bushy" (1). I am flowering four FP at this time. Most look more sativa-like, one more indica-like. I successfully cloned several babes before flowering. I think it is a "keeper".

Here's what QCS cannabis (Quebec Cannabis Seeds | Canada Seed Bank | Made in Canada), where I received the free FP seeds has to say about the paternal units and the high:

"Fruity Pebbles Seeds is famous for being hard to get since it can only be grown from clones taken off healthy parent plants. It is a potent weed with a THC content that lies anywhere between 19% and 28%. The strain is an offspring that came from successfully crossing Granddaddy Purps. The offspring were further bred and mixed by crossing Tahoe OG with Alien Kush

Its creativity bursting effect is much appreciated not only by writers, artists and students but by anyone who needs to sharpen their mind and need to have some space for a couple of genuine thoughts, for school projects or for business. This thought-provoking effect may attract friends around the table since Fruity Pebbles definitely works in social settings. Also, from a medical perspective, this strain may be effective for Attention Deficit Disorder."

I hope the the FP can "sharpen" my mind as advertised and generate "genuine thoughts" because this ole' boy needs a lift after the great" 66 b-day hoedown.

News from the Vegetative Tents

I have been neglectful regarding updating the vegetative tent info. I have two. One is for seedling/clones and one is for more advanced vegetative growth. Both tents are 2 X 4 X 5-foot. Recently, I have experienced an overload of vegetative stock.

As you remember from my last entry, I had significant veggie stock: five Candy Kush (CK) vegs grown from seeds in 1-gal plastic pots; eight total Northern Lights (NL) and Fruity Pebbles (FP) that were cloned and now vegging in 1-pint plastic pots; and, finally, nine total Fruity Pebbles/OG (FP/OG) and Northern-Lights/skunk (NL/SK) crosses vegging in 1-gallon plastic pots (grown from free seeds).

Last week, I looked at the vegetative 420 and decided both tents were overloaded (head slap!). Some 420 had to be transplanted and moved to the flower tent to free space. I decided to act upon the five CK in 1-gal plastic pots first. Last Saturday, I took ten clone cuttings from three of the CK.

Currently, all clones are healthy and seem to be progressing nicely. For clone media, an approximate 60% peat, 40% perlite media was hand mixed. Supplemental additional media mix items included mycorrhizal microbes and powdered dolomite for pH adjustment. In preparation for cloning, plastic transplant pots full of soil-mix were soaked overnight in a pH=6.0, mild-strength Clonex-brand clone-nutes. Once taken, all clones were placed in a repurposed plastic “mushroom growing bin”. The bin has a black bottom-half and a clear plastic top-half with several 2-inch holes in the top-sides to allow air flow. I used tape initially to seal the holes so that humidity was maintained initially at 90% to 100% RH for one 18/6 cycle. A couple clean water misting sprays kept RH optimal.

Over the last week, I have dropped the clone chamber RH at bit and opened the taped holes a little-at-a-time and placed a fan near the bin to draw air slowly through the clone chamber. Current RH in the clone chamber is in the 70% to 80% RH range with an 18/6 light cycle. Temps have been 75 to 80 deg F. There are no signs of mold, fungus or disease. Two “string-type” LED lights and one small 35-actual-watt LED are arranged on top of the clear plastic clone chamber cover to provide low-intensity “burple-red” light and warmth.

Last Saturday, the three CK “mothers” were transplanted into 5-gal fabric bags and trimmed. The other two CK were transplanted into 5-gal fabric bags and trimmed on Tuesday of this week. For transplanting an approximate 60% peat, 40% perlite media was hand mixed. Supplemental mix items included @GeoFlora Nutrients, mycorrhizal microbes and powdered dolomite for pH adjustment. All CK 420 were returned to the veg tent after transplanting (increasing the degree of overcrowding in the veg tents – head slap!). A tight squeeze resulted.

Last weekend and earlier this week, some LST and trimming of the vegging NL, FP, FP/OG and NL/SK was accomplished. All 420, except those seven from the original FP and NL crop (currently in the flowering tent), are now utilizing @GeoFlora Nutrients . Several waterings were administered to the veg crop 420 during the last couple weeks. Spring water and some supplemental doses liquid yucca, liquid iron, liquid silica and recharge were used. pH of water/supplement varied between 5.8 and 6.1. Temps in the veg tents have been 80 – 85 deg F, RH 50% - 65%. Seedling/clone tent lighting is provided by two @Maxsisun MF1000 dimmable & remote controlled LEDs. The other advanced-growth veg tent lighting is provided by one 350-actual-watt Bloomspect full spectrum LED.

Yesterday was moving day. I moved the five CK’s in 5-gal fabric bags from the veg tent to the flowering tent. Prior to CK insertion, the five CK were denuded of “easily removed” leaves for Day-1-flowering yield enhancement (CK’s will also be denuded again at Day-18 of the flower cycle). After denuding, selective LST was performed on the CK’s.

Much rearranging of flowering tent residents was required to fit three NL in late-bloom, four FP in mid-bloom and the five new CK residents into the 4 X 8 X 7.8-foot space. All CK were arranged at the perimeters at either end of the flowering tent to aid light and RH acclimatization. The current flowering NL and FP residents were clustered toward the tent center. There are now twelve 420 at various stages of flowering contained in the flowering tent.

Following transfer of CK’s, the veg tents were rearranged. The NL and FP pint-sized clone-seedlings were placed in the MF 1000 LED tent. All other FP/OG and NL/SK crosses in 1-gal containers were placed in the Bloomspect tent.

Current tent state: Twelve 420 in flowering tent, ten 420 clones in clone chamber, eight 420 seedling/clones in MF 1000 tent, and nine 420 advanced-growth vegging.

One last detail: MF 1000 tent veg tent: oscillating fan failed. A spare oscillating replacement fan was installed there. A warranty claim was made upon the vendor, a new replacement fan is on the way.

Please find pictures of the clone setup below. In addition, there are pictures of the vegetative tents below. I will add pictures later showing the flowering tent 420 and the newly denuded CK’s.

Busy busy , looking great Amigo.
Jumangi hehe.

Stay safe

Charlie, how you do you find time to roll a fatty to smoke?!

Holy moly there is a lot going on at many different stages! So many different programs for so many different strains of ladies!

I would be updating once a month if I had that much going on. Do you sleep in one of the tents? What is the total amount of space you use for this entire jumanji, as Bill put it?

With this breakdown, I absolutely see why you have so many operating systems and checkpoints in place and why there is such a focus on proper implementation. Any one without your expertise would have these grows in shambles! Not you, though. This is quite impressive a feat.

:welldone: Good Sir

I thank you from the bottom of my heart, dear @Krissi1982 . It is a lot of work, however, if I could get my vegs to look as good as your vegs, I would be in heaven. I am still adjusting to the @GeoFlora Nutrients program, therefore, some 420 in veg does not look as good as it should. I am a busy bee...however...there is no 2-y.o carpet scrambler in my domain so my work is a breeze compared to your neverending household and garden tasks.

Aww, thank you that's very nice of you to say

It takes time to learn a new system, especially with so much going on!

He does add to the day for sure but don't sell your own work load short. You are a balancing act. A very fine one at that.

Earlier today I promised flowering tent pictures. Here they are. Three Northern Lights (NL), four Fruity Pebbles (FP) and now five newly placed Candy Kush ([CK]. The CK were added to the tent yesterday and denuded and LST trained.

Everything since my last flowering tent post is nearly the same. It is now Day-38 of flowering. I have increased the spacing between water/nute from 3-days to 4-days. Environmental conditions and @Maxsisun lighting are nearly the same as my past flowering tent post.

I have started to cut back on the nutes for the NL according to the General Hydroponics (GH) aggressive feed schedule. The NL's realistically are probably an 8-week flowering schedule. By my calculation they are just past mid-bloom at Day-38. The GH feed schedule indicates decreasing feed amounts now until flush.

The FP's realistically are probably a10-to-12-week flowering schedule based on their higher degree of sativa trait (NL=95% indica while FP=55% indica %, 45% sativa). Based on the available literature, the FP are at approximately mid-bloom. I continue aggressive GH feeds of the FP at high mid-bloom amounts.

CK's are showing vigorous growth even though they were denuded yesterday indicating they are acclimating well to their new flowering tent environment.

Now for your Friday night visual delight, the flowering tent pictures.

Yeah, I agree...I just bought a ball-gag for the Fruity Pebbles...I'll see if it "takes"...LMAO! @Krissi1982

Could not resist a fresh turkey - what do you think @Krissi1982? Ham for Christmas day.

Yes, @Rexer , and @Renaissance Man I know you both are totally OCD regarding..."the hair thing". The whole Ammy jr "shirt fuzz or cat hair" controversy question.

And...yes, there are at least two hairs on the bird skin.

Are they feather hairs (?),

or,

CAATTT!!! hairs (?),

or,

merely photo-shopped there to tweak your mania and make you grab for that 3/4 doob...puff, puff, puff...while you shake your head fixated on the "bird-fuzz" screen-gem follicle photo - mumbling, "damn...?".

I know it causes @Krissi1982 to want to reach out and try to pick them off the screen I am sure she would place them on the shoulder of Ammy, jr - a hair-born spartan wreath of victory over death...LOL!

The Mystery, The Majesty, The Magic.

Only the shadow knows...or the stinkin CAATTT!!! (?).
