420 Magazine's Official Girl Scout Cookies Comparative Grow

As I wrap up several grow journals this month, I could see myself able to center in on a grow like this and do daily updates to a comprehensive grow journal. My question is also about the lights. I am now running a very old refurbished veg light, using T5 LED bulbs... not sponsored. In bloom, there is no problem, I have a Nextlight MEGA, a MARS SP-3000 and a home made COB array.... so I could make that side fit the requirements. I suspect that I don't qualify because of my VEG situation, but I figured it doesn't hurt to ask. Thanks for sponsoring this grow, no matter what the decision.

You’re good @Emilya, we would be honored to have you in on it.

The concern is advertising for non-sponsors, and we know you aren’t a payed shill or trying to sell homemade lights etc. so I’m gonna say you’re good to go ;)

I guess I started up the room again a little too early. I mean I got a fairly big room, but I have 10 plants under 3 weeks and 2 about to pop for a dwc test. I would have loved to get in on this, but best of luck to everyone that applies!

Those lights are fine, and so are any HPS or MH lights. It's the LED lights we have issues with, because many LED companies are notorious for creating fake profiles and journals to sidestep advertising. They pretend to be regular members, posting pictures from their customers and highlighting the lights, to avoid paying to become a sponsor. So we have to draw the line somewhere, to keep things fair for everyone.
420: thanks for the light update...understand the led situation

In regards to timing, we start now and go until WeedSeedsExpress wants to tap out, then we finish them all to harvest. This is our first comparative grow, so we're winging it for now and going with the flow.
I need 5 weeks +1 to dry in my cabinet. I will commit to a photo GSC comparative if the timeline fits your needs. My first grow was GSC...in my links. Let me know.

That would be cool if it turned into 1 long bud. A 3' long bud :yummy:
That's what I'm trying to do. A three foot Bud, wouldn't that be an awesome sight.

That would have to win Nug of the Month for sure ! You get my vote if you succeed at it.
That's my goal. I submit every month but not a bud like I'm trying to grow. Plus I'm not very good at taking pictures. But I try

What about home built lights? Are COBs acceptable?

Let me try to explain this, as it's complicated. We'll have to decide on those on a case by case basis, as long as they don't violate the guidelines, it could work. If you're planning to promote the lights so people inquire where to get the parts and turn it into a DIY LED lights selling journal, then that would violate. If you plan to focus on the plants and the rest of the grow primarily without getting into the lights, then it could work. If the parts are all from one place that sells everything, and you plan to make that knowledge available to our members, then it could be an issue. Basically, if it's a non sponsored LED light, we'd want you to not discuss or photograph the lights at all. We bend the guidelines for you all in journals sometimes, but unfortunately not in this comparative grow.

We've been working with you for a long time and know you'll respect our guidelines. We'd love to have you on this one, just don't list, photograph or discuss the veg light and you'll be fine.

I will eventually get a sponsored light. I made mine before I even knew about this place. Sure glad I found it though because people are very rude elsewhere. I appreciate everything I’ve been taught here. Good to see some comparative grows going on. Thanks to @Weed Seeds Express for putting this one on. Grow on friends.

No intentions on promoting neither the companies the parts came from or to build lights for people, there’s enough people already doing that lol. I also have 4 led panels by one of the sponsors that are dedicated to my 4x5’ flower room. My big focus is a new quality strain from one of the sponsors, after reading the description it sounds like something that would feel right at home in my garden.

If you could just not photograph, link or discuss the veg light, and focus on the sponsored flowering lights, it could work :thumb:

I would like to be considered to participate in this comparative grow. It's been too long since I've worked on a journal.
