420 Magazine's Official Girl Scout Cookies Comparative Grow By Websissy

I took another look at the girls just now and noticed some shiny clear spots on some leaves. I googled and it said it could be Thrips. I noticed something like this on my bathtub clones too over a week ago - thought it was maybe dried saliva from my cat who had chewed up some of those plants leaves. I put a clone in the tent with my GSC plants two night ago to get some more light. I think I’ve spread this bug possibly to my small GSC grow tent. I’ve been using @Sierra Natural Science SNS-209 since they were planted in the solo cups. Thinking I’ll spray them with distilled water and SNS and let them air dry with no lights to see if that helps. Any advice if this is Thrips?

Here’s a close up of a spot.

:ciao: Day 33 (Day 23 of Veg) - girls are perky today! The pots are already getting light - probably will water tomorrow night. Need to lift the lights again or take them off the elevator drain things. Will transplant them in 12 more days to 3 gallon cloth pots. Thanks for stopping by my journal!

Day 34 - All looks well with the GSC’s :thumb:

pots were light, watered with distilled water with some SNS-209 pest control. Each plant took about 3/4 liter.

Raised the light a bit and pushing down some of the newer node branches.

Should be getting the new @weegrow light tomorrow. May not set it up until after Memorial Day.

Temps seem to be okay since I opened more of the screen vents. Humidity is between 66-70.

Day 35 (Veg Day 25) -
I couldn’t wait to install the #WeeGrow Q-1000 light in my little grow tent tonight.

After unboxing, I started by putting the battery in the remote. Plugged in the light and synced up the remote. Then I turned the light off but still had it plugged in. And was clipping on the metal hanging cable wires to the corners of the light panel. One of the ends of the wire touched a part of the panel and sparked!! Burned a bit of the panel. I turned the light off right away and unplugged it (directions tell you not to have it plugged in while messing with it). I hung the light with the cable wires but couldn’t get the light high enough. So ditched the cable wires and attached the ratchet hangers directly to the corners of the light and cinched it up as high as possible. The light is super bright. I dimmed it to it’s minimum to let my plants get used to it. I’ll have to set my alarm tonight to turn it off and then in the morning to set up the timer to 18/6.
Plants were not too heavy for being watered yesterday - will water again tomorrow. Will have to put the plants in a auto water over the long weekend why I’m away.

Oh - the light seems fine :hookah:

I had to hang my lights in a similar fashion. It's a pain to change light height but it works.

They included zip ties - so maybe to get it even higher I’ll have to use those :meditate:

Looking pretty cool :green_heart:

How big is your tent & is it big enough for a Hobbit to top up their tan with :D
Haha - my tent is tiny enough for a hobbit for sure! It’s 2’x2’x36”. At the rate these #weedseedsexpress GSC’s are growing they will be 36” tall at the end of their 6 week Veg! I may have to move them and the light into my bigger tent but I had plans for that tent for my Purple Haze Clones that are close to flipping to flower. I’ll have to get creative :bongrip: Sounds like a good weekend sativa buzz project!

All caught up again! They are looking great. It looks like they were stretching early on because those initial lights simply weren't bright enough to shorten those nodes. I had the same issue earlier when I was trying to figure out the right distance and intensity on my light. Looks like the new lights will get them through to the end. You've got lots of training to do to keep them small but it will be fun to learn and watch for all of us!
Learning how to grow is fun - but challenging. I keep reading less is more sometimes :) The GeoFlora seems like it will be a lot easier to grow with than the other products I've been using.
I am 100% right there with you. It has definitely been challenging for me as well. I tend to make things more difficult for myself than they need to be. I'm beyond excited on how easy it has been with the @GeoFlora Nutrients with mine. I feel so accomplished! :high-five:
Cat issues I understand
100% understand that! Haaa haaa. I've had to keep the extra ports in my tent fortified from them trying to get in!
Gave plant #6 - 4oz of #Geoflora (because I think my 1 gallon pot has about 1/2 a cubic foot of soil
Sorry but it is only 0.13 cubic feet of soil. Just use their 1oz per gallon container. They also recommend 1 cup per 10 gallons of soil.

Dosed it 4x more than recommended. Good thing you can't really burn them but it may just be wasteful. I'm not sure if this creates excess nutrients if you continue to feed every 2 weeks. You gave it 4 feedings in one top dress.

@GeoFlora Nutrients - In your research, what happens with excess dosage in this amount? Is it possible to dose once a month instead of every 2 weeks? What happens?!

Thinking I’ll spray them with distilled water and SNS and let them air dry with no lights to see if that helps.
I started my foliar spray this morning with the SNS209 too. It won't work like a topical pesticide though. We need to continue using it so when the bugs start to eat the plant, then they die. It won't kill them just by spraying them though. That is my understanding of this formula. Maybe @Sierra Natural Science could chime in on another product to help with curbing a possible pest sooner than the SNS209?

GSC Day 38 (28 in Veg) -

Recap -
  • FFHF soil.
  • #Weedseedsexpress GSC - 4 for this comparative grow
  • #Dynomyco
  • #Earth Alive Soil Activator
  • #GeoFlora Veg
  • #Sierra Natural Science SNS-209
  • Watering at 6-6.5 PH when needed (usually)
  • WeeGrow lights - just switched to more power LED.
  • 1 gallon cloth pots
  • RH - 70
  • Going away for a few days

Did my, mad frantic get ready to leave at the last minute, plant care, but I think they will be okay for 3 days. Switch the light 2 days ago and set it at its lowest of 5 settings. Turned it up last night one setting and the plants looked very happy. They probably could have gone another day or two without water but I had to give them some before I left. Hopefully, they will be okay. TBD!
  • Have a good weekend :surf:

Not sure if you are trying to tag the sponsors but it's a @ instead of a #. :)

Plants are looking happy :thumb: New light looks great but if it sparked when you touched the hanging cable to the heatsink there's something wrong with that and I'd get on to them about it. Your heatsink shouldn't be live.

Day 41 (31 in Veg)

I’m back from being down south of the border for a little relaxation with the family.

I was worried about the plants that they might get too hot or dry but so far they are looking good. The pots are getting light but not entirely yet. The #6 and #2 plants are super tall - they are already outgrowing the 36” tent height wise. Plant #4 is growing tall too. #3 looks healthy but not growing as tall or fast. I’ll have to transfer them to my 4x4x6.5 foot tent ASAP (need to sanitize it first).
Since I only planned to veg for 6 weeks (42 days) and want to have them transplanted a week before flipping to flower to 3 gallon cloth pots - I’ll water them a little tonight and then transplant them in 4 more days on Friday. That way they will get their fresh soil, @DYNOMYCO mycorrhiza, @Geoflora Veg, and @earth Alive Soil Activator a week before I flip them. I’ll keep the same lights with the plants even though it’s for a smaller grow space - I’ll put up some reflective material around the plants so it’s like a smaller space.

I tried turning the lights up to their 3rd out of 5 levels about an hour ago but just checked at the tent is getting too hot. So the plants will be better off in a larger tent as this one will be too small and hot for continued growth. My larger tent had an evap cooler and 6”inline exhaust fan.

I don’t plan on taking any clones from these 4 comparative grow plants.

Here’s some pics:
