420 Magazine's Official Girl Scout Cookies Comparative Grow By Brett Blaze

The good, the bad and the ugly. Thanks for also sharing the things that don't go to plan, rather than just the rosy, great plant pics. I sometimes learn more from mistakes than from successes, and I appreciate your being willing to share.

Good Morning

Both plants are getting quite bushy. These GSC seeds from @Weed Seeds Express are growing really fast right now. I will be pinning the branches back again this evening with additional spikes. #2 has not missed a beat even with the small tear in the branch. I estimate I will be flipping in less than two weeks based on the growth rate. Target date is June 8th. That should put harvesting at the end of July. Just missing the extreme August heat.

I mixed a new batch of nutrient solution this morning. Nutrient solution is at Veg Week 3 level of 1040 ppm per the @Prescription Blend mixing table.

The Demon LED from @Budget LED remains at 460 PPFD, 26K Lux.

Today's temperatures: High of 101° F (38° C) with Rh going to 7%.

Tent Climate: 75° F (24° C) with Rh at 66%

Tent Room Climate: 73° F (23°C) with Rh at 62%

Current Outside Temperature at 8:00: 92° F (33° C) Rh 21%

Readings from this morning's watering:

Total ppm for the solution is 1410 ppm with a Ph of 6.3

# 1 received 20 oz. (600 ml). 90 ml of runoff (15%). Runoff was 820 ppm.

# 2 received 20 oz. (600 ml). 75 ml of runoff (12.5%) Runoff was 906 ppm.

Tight node spacing

After I spread it out again this evening it will look much better. I am predicting I will get 4 nodes on each of the 4 branches. (Because they are so tight it may be 5 which could be too many) Each node will produce 2 colas except the odd number nodes that have the branch coming from the bottom and top. For those nodes the bottom branch will be cut off since it won't get much light. If my math is right that would be 6 colas per each of the 4 branches or 24 main colas per plant.

How are you liking the airpots? Debating giving them a whirl in my personal grow.

So far so good. I'm still trying to dial in how much to water. They produce 90% of the runoff in about 15 minutes once saturated. Since I have been growing using DWC in the past I don't have much to compare to. I think for reusability they may work out better than the nets. Probably easier to clean. I guess I'll find out.

Personal note: The instructions on their site on how to put these together suggests installing the bottom on the 3rd row up. That seemed shallow for the medium area so I installed it on the 2nd row. When you watch the video it will make sense. Installing on the 2nd row still places the bottom of the inner container 2" above the ground. even when lowering it I still could have used another inch of depth when I transplanted.

Good Morning

Tonight I hope to have enough new branch to pin them down to allow some more light in the center. When I looked last night the chance of causing some damage was too high. After a day of growing I hope to be able to pin them down tonight.

Today's temperatures: High of 102° F (39° C) with Rh going to 9%.

Tent Climate: 77° F (25° C) with Rh at 77%

Stage - Veg Day 19 - 7 Days since topping - 33 days above ground

Good Morning

I am having one of those days where everything seems to go wrong. When inspecting the plants this morning I noticed a large fan leaf covering up a large portion of the center area on #2. I debated cutting it and had this gut feeling I should leave it alone. Well after a few minutes I decided to go ahead and cut it. I am usually very good at cutting leaves and topping and I can't remember ever having a mishap, at least not a big one. Well this morning I had a big one. When cutting off the fan leaf I slipped and missed my cutting. I thought I just cut the new nodal branch under the leaf but when I inspected further I had cut right through one of the four main branches. Well I have enough light for the center branches now and have a triline or quintline depending how it turns out. The 4th branch will produce two main branches and I'll decide how to deal with it later.

So at this point I am not in the best mood and go back to my office to smoke a bowl. Now I have a 15 year old Labrador that's does well but has difficulty walking. She needs help with just about everything involving standing or walking. So when I get to my office I I get hit by a familiar and unwanted order. There on the floor was dog poop. And she stepped in it. Ok Gross!! When going to the bathroom to get a towel and water to clean it up I have a flooded bathroom. The toilet valve shutoff was leaking. Water everywhere.

Anyway here's todays data:

Today's temperatures: High of 101° F (38° C) with Rh going to 9%.

Tent Climate: 77° F (25° C) with Rh at 71%

Tent Room Climate: 72° F (22°C) with Rh at 52%

Current Outside Temperature at 9:00: 89° F (32° C) Rh 26%

Readings from this morning's watering:

Total ppm for the solution is 1410 ppm with a Ph of 6.3

# 1 received 20 oz. (550 ml). Runoff measured later.

# 2 received 20 oz. (550 ml). Runoff measured later.

Oh no Brett. I'm sorry your day hasn't been great.
I think your a hero for taking such good care of your Lab.
Plants grow back. Floors dry up but she will love you for ever. :green_heart:

Your plants look great! I had a snipping mishap once and secured the branch back together with grafting tape and supported it with bamboo poles and some rubber ties. Amazingly it grew back together :)

One of those days. Even with the snipping mishap they look great :thumb:
Because it's still early in the quadline stage I will treat each of the two new mains as I would the other three and train them. If done right I could get a few more colas since I will have 5 mains instead of four.
I smoked a bowl so feeling a little better. :bongrip:

I considered this but it was completely cut off. It it was hanging I would have tried to save it.

Bad day indeed but it will pass just as everyday before and in the words of Scarlet O'Hara "Tomorrow is another Day". Which is the original title editor changed it to Gone with the Wind
