420 Magazine's Official Girl Scout Cookies Comparative Grow By Brett Blaze

Watching from my tent cam. Waiting for paint to dry um I mean water to drip.

Stage - Veg Day 9 - 23 days above ground

Today's temperatures will reach 99° F (37° C) with Rh going below 15%.

Tent Climate: 79° F (26° C) with Rh at 68%

Tent Room Climate: 76° F (26°C) with Rh at 59%

Current Outside Temperature at 8:00: 89° F (32° C) Rh 33%

Continuing to have really good growth.

Today details:

# 1 received 9 oz. (270 ml). 27 ml of run off (10%) Runoff readings were 1050 ppm.
# 2 received 5 1/2 oz. (165 ml). 17 ml of run off (10%) Runoff readings were 950 ppm

# 3 received 5 oz. (150 ml). 40 ml runoff (27%). Runoff readings 955 ppm.
# 4 received 5 oz. (150 ml) with 20 ml runoff (13%). Runoff readings 625 (still low but improving)

I couldn't figure how #3 was having a some runoff as soon as I gave it any water. The net pots for 1 and 3 were touching and 3 was wicking water from 1's net pot. Hence the large runoff.

Gotta luv it

101° in my neck of the woods. Cooler this weekend. Then long range outlook starting last weekend in May the real heat gets turned on ugh.
Dang! Its 80 degrees in Michigan right now and I thought that was bad.

btw, how you liking the Demon? I have been running it for almost a year now when it was in prototype. In a 2 x 4, the 330w is just about perfect for light distribution. I found with some of my long term mothers I keep around that my buds were thicker and denser versus some of our older lighting. The light does put out the intensity which can be problematic if not watching your light to canopy distance.

We have a new Demon version we will be launching soon with a different diode mix.

The Demon is working great. I have it at 2/3s power and putting out 460 PPFD at 28" which is where I want it for Veg.

Stage - Veg Day 10 - 24 days above ground

Today's temperatures will reach 92° F (33° C) with Rh going below 25%.

Tent Climate: 77° F (25° C) with Rh at 71%

Tent Room Climate: 73° F (23°C) with Rh at 68%

Current Outside Temperature at 10:00: 87° F (30° C) Rh 32%

I am going to have to make some changes today to allow some more room for each plant. The growth has been excellent this last week. If I get time today I'll post a 5 day progress shot.

Today details:

Nutrient Solution still reaming at a total of 855 ppms of which 500 is @Prescription Blend nutrients.
Nutrient Solution Ph 6.2.

# 1 received 8 oz. (240 ml). 55 ml of run off (23%) Runoff readings were 926 ppm.

# 2 received 8 oz. (240 ml). 75 ml of run off (31%) Runoff readings were 1290 ppm. Runoff ppms went way up over night. The first reading was 1850 ppms, 800 ppms too high. I added another 30 ml of solution to help flush out some possible salts. Ppms went down to 1290. Still high but much better.

# 3 received 5 oz. (150 ml). 20 ml runoff (13%). Runoff readings 987 ppm.

# 4 received 4 1/2 oz. (135 ml) with 20 ml runoff (15%). Runoff readings 787 (low but gradually getting better)

Is the root coming out the bottom of the pot or the side? I was told it wasn't a big deal when this happens by my husband and @InTheShed unless you're root-bound. Our conversation is below.

I was just watering my plants and the roots of the Carnival, which is in a 5-gallon cloth pot are coming out the bottom of the pot. What should I do? Repot it? Or is it okay? This has never happened to me before.

How long between waterings (by which I mean between watering to runoff and the pot being very light and the bottom dry)?

I'm watering to run-off approximately every 4 to 5 days for the Carnival, which is still in veg and is currently 68 days old.

Felonious says it's normal for the roots to come out the bottom of the cloth pots and not to worry about it.

And he is absolutely correct! We often wonder why you ask questions here when you have a grower down the hall. :)

No worry about being root bound if it takes 4-5 days to dry out.

There are several starting to come out of the side. I was planning to transplant at 14 days of Veg so I'm not far off. I want the 6th node to be well established before I transplant. The first topping will take place a few days after transplant. I think the 7th node as started. I need to check when they wakeup this evening.

I decided to go ahead and transplant 1 and 2 to the three gal air pots. Both had a few roots coming out of the sides of the net pots and when transplanting the root balls felt to be around the size of a grapefruit. Because both plants have seven nodes and I need to crop soon I went ahead and transplanted so I can give the plants a few days to recoup before I crop them.

It was hard deciding which ones to keep and I nearly went for #3 instead of #2. 2's nodes are shorter than I would like but it has a more developed root system. #3 looks like it could be a strong plant but it needed 4 more days and as fast as these plants are growing 4 days (+2) would be too long to wait to crop. I'll keep 3 and 4 in the tent until I know 1 and 2 made it through the transplant.

To contain all the runoff waste I installed a 7" high container that fits perfect in a 2 x 4 tent. I elevated one side so the water will run down and collect. I put the fogger on a rectangle storage container.

Why do your pots have spiky things on them?

Hi HG

These are Air Pots. The spiky things have holes at the end. The pots allow for additional oxygen which increases root growth. There a re a few YouTube videos that describe it very well. Just search "How the Air-Pot works' on YouTube.

Cool! Thanks. I'll check them out.

Stage - Veg Day 11 - 25 days above ground

Today's temperatures will reach 78° F (26° C) with Rh going below 15%.

Tent Climate: 77° F (25° C) with Rh at 77%

Tent Room Climate: 73° F (23°C) with Rh at 64%

Current Outside Temperature at 10:00: 76° F (24° C) Rh 26%

I transplanted 1 and 2 last night into their 3 gallon Air Pots. I haven't used air pots before (but I hadn't used Net pots before this grow either) so I need to closely monitor the water saturation.

Both @Weed Seeds Express GSC plants are looking really good this morning. The growth has been more than I anticipated.

Going forward I will only be monitoring 1 and 2. I feel bad for 3 and 4 they really gave it their all but only two can go forward. (sounds like a game show)

# 1 received 20 oz. (600 ml). 140 ml of runoff (23%) Runoff readings were 800 ppm.

# 2 received 20 oz. (600 ml). 140 ml of runoff (23%) Runoff readings were 705 ppm

Tomorrow I will be topping for quadlining.
:peace: :passitleft:

I hope you're going to post lots of close up pics of the quadlining for those of us who don't know how to do it.

:passitleft:

I'll do my best. It's my first time trying this type of training. :)

I should probably refrain from any medication tomorrow until after the trim. So I'll have to make up for it today. :lot-o-toke:

There's a real good thread on Quadlining.

So why only two, is it a space thing? I always hate culling viable plants. I do it. But I hate it.

....Edit....

Never mind. I just went back to the opening page. I had confused your grow with another.

I'm really looking forward to the Quadline. Never tried it but I will next round. Plants look gorgeous. Keep at it.
