420 Magazine's Official Girl Scout Cookies Comparative Grow By BooWho2

Hi all. Here's a little update in the GSC quad. They are all doing well. #3 has really caught up with #1 and #2 in height and she will be getting some sort of topping soon.
Group shot:

#1 and #2 are at day 38

GSC #1 at 38 days

GSC #2 day 38
3 and 4 are slightly behind because they were a panic drop when 1 and 2 started going funky. :cheesygrinsmiley:

GSC #3 at 24 days. She's straight as can be and has a nice thick stalk.

GSC #4 is at 22 days now, I forgot to take a pic of her but she's there in the Group shot on the right.

Take care out there! :peace:

They look pretty darn good to me, big leaves and all!

Nice job, Boo. I have a few questions. The photo you took of the 4 girls L to R in the tent looks like the tent is on top of something (raised). Is it?

And, could you please tell me the age of GSC1 and GSC2 when you topped them?

And, finally, it looks like you've already done some LSTing. Did you take any photos of that and how you did them? I'm still learning, you know. :battingeyelashes:

:thanks:

Hi all! :ciao: First @HashGirl asked me a couple questions which caused me to go back and look at the calendar and I made a big ole mistake on my post yesterday! EDIT: GSC #1 and GSC #2 are 45 days old in the posting above on 5/31 - not 38 days. OOF! :sorry: Now on to HGs questions.

The tent is not, but the pots inside are. I’ve copied this from several journals I’ve been watching. It’s a plastic coated closet shelf that can be bought in pieces and then assembled in closets. It has a corner on one long end and is straight on the other so I’ve taken some pieces of 2x4 plywood and put it under the flat edge to level it. I like this rack because it keeps the pot off the ground which allows air to circulate under and around it, and it also allows me to put a newly watered plant on it and it can drain into the saucer below it. Now, pulling the saucer(s) out and dumping them can sometimes be a PITA, but it’s not too bad and I usually use heavy duty ones under the shelf so they are pretty rigid. Here’s a pic of the tag. Hopefully that answered your question? :cheesygrinsmiley:

This is where I discovered my math mistake… According to the new math,#1 was topped at 39 days and #2 was FIMmed at 40 days. FYI - I did not top/FIM according to age, I did it because of their node height.
it looks like you've already done some LSTing. Did you take any photos of that and how you did them?
Yes, I’ve just started messing around with some LST. I didn’t take photos but went back and grabbed a few for you. First - and I’ve seen this probably in a @Justin Goody journal - I did this because the fan leaves are so darned big that I can‘t get to the plant and they are covering nodes, etc. It’s a short term fix that is helping keep the top stretching down gently (though probably not as much as it should be) while the other nodes catch up, and it is also preventing me from having a buttload of pipe cleaners tied around the pot (for now).

I plan to try to get GSC #1 into rectangle shape (like my 2x4 tent size) and then send her to flower. Will it work? No clue, but I’ve started a slow training on the nodes to hopefully pull into that rectangular shape. Am I doing it all wrong? Maybe. But that’s what’s going on below. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Me too HG, me too! :high-five:

And since we are here. A couple photos of the FIM job.

It’s really hard to capture what’s going on there. Maybe in a few more days it will be easier to see. :peace:

Love it! That is a great quick fix, only holds for a few days but that’s usually just long enough ;)

....they grow up so fast.....
to hopefully pull into that rectangular shape.
You're doing it exactly right, Boo- as long as all the branches cooperate, you should end up with a nice rectangular plant....
When I used to grow 2 at a time in the box, I'd have to keep them rectangular so they'd both fit in there-
One thing you might consider doing (you may already know this) is to train the branches in an "X" as opposed to a "+", so the plant ends up with a short side and a long side...

Thanks Carcass and congrats again on the MotM win. :high-five: I am trying to do exactly that - an X shape. It’s hard to see but I’ve got three branches on each side pulled down to one same clip (on each side) so I’m kinda pulling “in” towards the clip on two of them. Hopefully that makes sense?

It does! I figured you'd thought of that, but thought I'd mention it just in case...it's best to start the "X" thing as early as possible when things are pretty bendy...

I'm surprised there have been no comments about #3.

She looks like she's on steroids!

Nice job, Boo.

:ciao: Happy Friday all! Here's a quick little update on the GSC ladies. GSC #3 is 28 days old now and getting talllll. I need to make a decision about her soon. Here she is on the right, next to #2.
PXL_20210604_184027121.jpg

GSC #4 is 26 days old and I opened the tent this morning to this. :hmmmm:
PXL_20210604_121615046.jpg

Oh well. Just bury her deeply next transplant.

GSC #1 and #2 are both 49 days old. #1 is shaping nicely.

I've not been able to get a good pic of the FIM yet. Maybe this weekend. :peace:

Good to see that we're still on the same day. I was expecting one of us to have veered off by now. Great looking plants, Boo. :passitleft:

Nice little family you have there Boo!
Each with its own style.
Nice training you've done. #3 is about to get as roudy as a teenager by the looks of her.
Good luck on deciding where to put them...
Have a great weekend!

One thing you have working in your favor as far as deciding what to do with the plants, there are 4 of them. An ideal situation for eeny, meeny, miney, moe! :Rasta:
