420 Magazine's Official Girl Scout Cookies Comparative Grow By BakedARea

2 of 4 of my plants are having mid level fan leaves that are dying like looked like the ones you snipped off too. The new growth though on my plants is doing great and in full veg. I am not sure what to do since I’m only feeding the GeoFlora Veg. I’m growing in FFHF soil. I’ll cut off these huge fan leaves but am worried if it continues. Your’s look like the aren’t continuing to get leaves like that.

Yeah, only a few leaves on 2 different plants and it showed up rather quickly but none of the new growth has been affected. Thanks for chiming in. I've been trying my best to watch other journals to see if I see any signs of it. Only thing I can think of is there is a similar gap in our cycles where there is limited nutrients available until the first topdress is utilized? IDK...

They were looking better this morning. Didn't have much time so it was only a quick peek and some pics. I hope you all had a nice weekend and good Monday. Blessings!

Oh...and some root pics. What are your thoughts about it's density, structure, and health. I'm thinking there is still space for a denser root structure before potting up.

That would be enough root growth for me, but I think it's also a matter of personal preference!

BakedARea, My solo cup roots were ready, but not as robust as yours. They will take off almost overnight once you up-pot. All looking good.
Thanks for the input you two! I was thinking they are ready but I also thought I could give them a little more time. I'll get them potted up sooner rather than later though. Appreciate the feedback! Update coming later.

It was quite the morning today! Went in and saw a bunch of happy young ladies. They were looking a bit too vigorous though and shading out some of the lower growth. So the scissors came out!

#7 & 9 Before & After
#9 got fan leaves off 3 different nodes! Damn near all the new branches are getting light now. #7 got only a couple leaves trimmed off.

#1 & 3 Before & After

Also, today was the first day I noticed pistils on #1!
Not the best pics but I loooove seeing these and wanted to share.

#2 - A little more bonsai work. I took off the foundational wire and she's holding firm! The few tops that have been growing strong and getting manually bent got pinned down today too. The same twisting technique I did on the primary stem, I will be attempting that on a couple branches too. It's really hard to tell from these pics but the future front of this plant has been made/discovered! Overall, I'm pretty stoked with the primary stem. I made a few mistakes but I think I may be able to fix them later on. It will look much better after some defoliation. Until then, bigger leaves are getting tucked under. I need those miniature solar panels making energy for this special beauty. Crazy design idea in my head...I can't wait to unveil it...IF I can figure out how to do it.

Hey BA, nice job on your journal so far. I’m coming in late to the game and am now only catching up on all these great journals. Keep up the great work.

:rollit:
All my best,

Thanks Magnus! :passitleft:
I appreciate you stopping in and checking things out. I'm trying to be much more consistent this year, hence the more notes and lots of pics. One of my main goals generally speaking for life is to be more consistent. I really want my plants to yield some amazing flowers so I want to be sure I put in the consistent work necessary! Now I'm just crossing my fingers that I don't screw things up too bad along the way...
Blessings Magnus and to everyone else that reads my journal! I really mean it. I am able to get lost here in this rabbit hole in the interwebs we call home. I appreciate you all.

I unfortunately was not able to get to get to uppot or watering today. They will have to wait until tomorrow. Today was just one of those days...let's leave it at that!

Not much had changed this morning when I checked in on them. It occurred to me though that a very consistent part of my first indoor grow has been the light!

I really want to thank @420 and the Mag crew for everything they do for this community. Seriously mean it! Without this cool community you have created it wouldn't be possible to find sponsors like @GrowTina of Bestva. Thank you Bestva for creating a great light for growers on a budget like me. I purchased another unit for myself shortly after you sent me a light to test. These plants have been exclusively under the Pro1000 model since they breached the soil. #1 will stay under this light until harvest! She is getting this amazing little light all to herself this weekend!

Just wanted to be sure I remembered to send you all a simple thank you from this lowly home grower. I rely on cannabis to move forward in life. I'm convinced I'm even alive because of cannabis. @GrowTina and Bestva 's sponsorship support here does make it possible for me to connect with other growers around the world. It's a great partnership for everyone involved, especially the members here.

Blessings from my home to all of yours.
Baked

Some pics from this morning before heading out...still behind on tasks. #7 & 9 are ready to get moved up. They are all due for a topdress on Sunday too. I decided to let them wait until Sunday for the uppot and deep watering.

This was a few pics just before lights out. #7 & 9 are still looking ok. They are a little thirsty though. Hmmmm...

Oh...and I also found this...

I'm not too worried about it though. I am going to move forward with the SNS209 from @Sierra Natural Science I looked long and hard and could not find any others. Where there is one, there is more! I will stay diligent to watch for more though. What I would like to see is some already dead bodies. Would be a good sign that the SNS209 is working its magic!

Looking good @BakedARea the one leaf in the first picture on the left is a monster! I have a little clone or two I am working on inspired by your bonsai concept. They are just cut so I hope to pick your brain soon. Happy Friday buddy!

Right?! Haa haa... needs to come off soon.

Bonsai inspiration?! Awesome! Sure, if there's anything I can do, please ask.

Nice journalism in your thread!
Girls are looking good...idk a little bit under fed?
But, what do I know :cheesygrinsmiley:
Like what you are doing tho!
:goodluck:
Thanks Furcifer! Much appreciated. I agree with you. I think 7 & 9 were underfed. I dosed the container size correctly and they were planted in @GeoFlora Nutrients 'VEG' pre-charged soil. I believe like others have found out, these genetics love a good buffet!

Nothing wrong with girls that like to eat!

They are getting potted up today into some of the same pre-charged soil today. I'm also going to give them a topdress. Update pics and info coming later.

#8 - Raised Garden Bed (Future home)

Oooooo kaaaaaay...it was a busy day in the garden, inside and outside. Early this morning, #2 & 8 got a foliar spray of 'All Seasons Horticultural Oil'.

#8 before getting transplanted later in the morning.

Later in the day, I got #7,8,&9 potted up. Afterward, every plant got a topdressing of GF 'Veg'. Then each got a full drench of SNS209 by @Sierra Natural Science and 5 mL/gal of @Terpinator

Break down of the watering today. Started at 1315 and ended around 1400.
#1 - 1 gal pot - 150 mL slight runoff / 250 mL runoff / 250 mL runoff / poured back all runoff
#3 - 1 gal pot - 100 mL / 250 mL runoff / 250 mL runoff / poured back all runoff
#7 - 9" net pot (2 gal) - 250 mL slight / 250 mL / 250 mL / 250 mL to runoff
#9 - 2 gal pot - 250 mL slight / 250 mL / 250 mL to runoff

#2 - 9" net pot (2 gal) - 400 mL slight runoff / 400 mL slight runoff / 400 mL runoff
#8 - 4 gal air pruning pot - 400 mL / 400 mL slight runoff / 400 mL runoff / 180 mL of runoff poured back in the center

Big photo dump and some chatting in between. I hope you enjoy!

#8 went into an air pruning style container. It's a plastic basket that holds 4 gallons of soil. I can't remember which store I bought it at but I wanted to give it a try and see how well it develops a root ball. The soil mix was already pre-charged with some GF 'Veg' a couple weeks ago. I added a middle layer of GF 'Veg' at only 1oz. Then I gave her a 4 oz topdressing of GF 'Veg'.

Look at all that happy mycelium around those roots!
Even with all that life, I gave the root ball a little spritz of h2o and added more @DYNOMYCO ! Cannot go wrong with too much of this stuff.

#7 & 9 got a middle layer of GF 'Veg' at 1/2 oz. Then they were both topdressed with 2oz of GF 'Veg' too. They also received a bounty of @DYNOMYCO during the transplant. Poor girls look so ragged after the defoliation. As soon as they recover from the stress, I imagine they will explode with new growth.

#1 & 3 each got 1 oz of GF 'Veg'.

And now for some before and after pics of all the work I did in the tent today. Swept and vacuumed. Added two more support bars to the roof. Added another WooZoo fan and a tower fan for more circulation. I adjusted the fan controller from manual to auto (75° and 65% RH are my high set points). Reorganized the lights for each plant. Put the future saucers out to start getting used to the future layout and space. Measured PPFD and distance for each plant.

Here's what it looks like now from the viewing window.

It is definitely MUCH hotter in the tent now that I have all the lights on...fan controller was maxed out trying to exhaust it.

On a "side" note...I wanted to again say thank you to Bestva LED ( @GrowTina ) for sponsoring this side of my @Mars Hydro tent! Thank you also for including these glasses! Whoa...after having all the lights on, there is no doubt that is causing damage to your vision without some PPE.

So the right side of the tent is running two Bestva Pro1000 lights. I am currently giving each plant a PPFD range of 600+/- 15 and a DLI of 38-40.

I did a little more bending, twisting, wiring, and pinning on #2. I am really happy with what is happening so far. It is hard to envision in this picture because of how bushy it is getting. I'm going to give it a couple more days and then it will be getting a little defoliation. I am feeling very ambitious about this design and I think the vigor of these genetics from @Weed Seeds Express will make it easier to push the envelope with the design. Here I left some extra wire to continue to train this branch for next week or more. I will have to keep a close eye on it or it will dig in. This will be a showcased cola so I really want the branch to be as flawless as possible.

I guess that's it for now. I'll hopefully get some time later this evening to get caught up with everyone's journals. Blessings!

Looks great Baked. What are those platforms you have your fans on? Do they connect to the tent poles? I have been looking for something like that for a while.
