My visit to sling's ranch, and the new "shack":
I apologize I cannot document my adventure with pictures, so you'll just have to "imagine" there are pictures in this post.
I've been chit-chatting with sling for about a year now. Recently I had a business conference about 6 hours from sling's location, so I decided to pay him a visit. After a week of sleep deprivation, I rented a car and started driving.
When I pulled up to the shack, I was overcome with envy! Not only was the building awesome, but the detail sling had put into it was A+ professional. The electric, the insulation, the floor, the moisture barrier, etc... I won't get into every little thing, but his attention to detail is stellar. I only had a few minutes to check it out and then we were headed to the ranch, trying to get there before 10am when the lights go off.
So we get in the truck and head for the ranch. I had about ZERO hours of sleep the night before. I can't remember the last time I was in a car and I wasn't driving... and then the road turned to gravel, and started getting bumpy. Oh man
I was getting a little car sick. I'm not talking about a bumpy gravel road, I'm talking about
we were nearly "Four wheelin" in some spots.... and we were even pulling a flat bed trailer. Finally, we pull up to a gate, sling gets out of the truck and unlocks it. Then we go a bit further, and we pull up to the ranch. I'm pretty car sick by now. I'm looking around and I am literally in the middle of "no-where's-ville". We are at least an hour from civilization. Sling could have buried me alive and I would never be found. But he spared me, this time
ha ha.
I get out of the car, and
I think I heard a coyote howl and a tumbleweed blow by. I'm greeted by sling's dog, who wanted to eat me at first. Once he knew I was a friend, he was still cautious but loved the snacks I gave him. Good boy. I can smell the pineapple kush. This stuff is dank! We enter the ranch and it all makes sense now. All the pictures I've seen sling post, now I can put it all together. The "big flower room", the "little flower room", the veg room, and the living quarters. Oh yeah, talk about a "man cave". This is the 2nd most ultimate set up, next to his new "shack" ;-)
If you've followed my posts, you probably already know I'm not easily impressed, but Sling's scrogged plants in flower were redic. There was at least 60 sq feet of complete buds (and that's with one tray already harvested). Amazing. Sling has dialed in "capn style" growing.
I got to see "tiny 2" up close and personal. The pictures don't do it justice. No doubt, the biggest and most healthy specimen I've seen indoors. Absolutely beautiful. Sling makes it look easy, guys. I have to say I was most impressed by Sling's Veg area. His plants looked like they should be in a magazine. One after the other. Perfect specimens. Bushy, green, no deficiencies, no burn... just perfect looking plants. One thing I noticed is sling leans on the side of "letting them do their own thing", rather than messing with them every day. He tops them here and there, but for the most part, he lets them grow, without torturing them. I like that.
I wanted to soak in the aroma and the beauty for awhile, but
we got wittbags, so there was no time for slackers. We took down some equipment, loaded up the trailer and the truck, and headed back to the new shack. The first priority was to dial up the 80's music, then get to work. Sling installed the power panel, while I started building the walls, to section off the flower and veg areas. Within a couple days we had the walls built (mostly), a light proof door between veg and flower, and on the 3rd day we focused on ventilation. One system only for cooling lights, and another system for pulling out hot, humid air (scrubbing the odor with carbon and UV). Let me tell ya, this sling is no stoner. This guy gets up early and gets it done.
I'm proud so say I got got to help out on such a top notch project. I don't have any "grower" friends in my area, so it was really nice to hang with sling and learn from a pro. Sling is humble on this forum, but his stuff is A+. He has bragging rights. It's easy to have a shed delivered to your place, but to build it out like sling has, is not so easy, and requires planning, attention to detail, and most of all, having "wittbag", day after day.
Way to go, Sling and thanks again for having me.
