2nd Grow - The Freak Is Back - LED 2017

Can you move it near a vent? Maybe one close to the ceiling? then use the vent to evacuate the heat. Just a thought

Theres no vents in either closet :( Bummer. Im looking for 3-5 degree drop in res temp. That would make me happy. From seeing your inline fan trick and me working on cars my whole life I came up with the radiator idea. I can get one double the size with 2 fans for just under double the price. So if this proof of concept works, but not enough Ill get the bigger one for my flower res and use the smaller one on the mothers :)

I'm liking the way you think. The radiator adds some positive charge to it. Im very curious how it will work. I know you told us but what are you running for lights in there? Wattage, manufacturer, etc. My fan thing will still work in a closed room. The only difference is the higher the ambient the less effective it works... but it still works. Sounds like you over want to move it a little bit. 3 to 5 degrees shouldn't be hard at all. I'd be willing to bet a 4"fan would work just fine. My system is 50 gallons, it will lower the temp by 10 over night, so it's fairly quick also My fan is an Ipower 6" and cost 19 bucks, so it's fairly cheap.

It's working s little too well right now. It's chilly in so cal today. My ambient is 69 and change. Water is, at 59... TOO chilly, but one issue I have is overheating the room. If I mess with the exhaust fan cycle time it may get a little warm so I leave the "chiller" on for safety sake. If it got much lower I would have to do something.

I would say insulate your res. but that is a double edge sword. Insulation keeps the heat in too.

SO! Cars huh? What do you work on? I have an old car, but I can't so I enjoy working on it... haha

I'm super curious to! I'm hoping it gets here quicker then they predict lol. The lights I have in there are

2 Mars Hydro 300 - about 130watts at the wall
1 Global Star 300 - about 140watts at the wall ( I only have veg on atm).
So about 400 actual draw watts (with both global star switches on)
My res is 10 gallons so hopefully the 4" fan/radiator combo can manage it.

As far as cars go! At the moment I'm a field service manager for an inspection company. Picture home inspections but for cars. Lots of high end stuff but average as well. I'm a licensed mechanic by trade but got off the floor a couple years ago to save working on cars as a passion and not kill my body. I've built a couple toys over the years lol. 2002 svt lightning I built the engine on. Ford racing block, ported blower, titanium valve train etc. That had 600 or so hp. 2005 SRT4 Neon stage 3. She had around 400hp. Honda CBR 600rr with a bunch done. Those amongst others lol. I do love pretty much anything with an engine :)

I've always wanted a Lightning. And my brother a an SRT 4, but he spent all his money on suspension. You've have/had some awesome cars. I don't do new engines. If I ever have issue with working on a SBC I try to remember working on new stuff

Yeah, these days you can't do much without a computer handy. It's a bit of a shame that there's no real diagnosis anymore. Mechanics have become installers. "Replace replace replace". It's all part of the reason I said fuck it. I'm making just as good money but I don't have to deal with cut throat flat rate bull shit and I get to come home without feeling like I smashed rocks all day. Maybe even work on my own cars.

Hello hello :). Nothing crazy to update really. Just a few pictures! Elephant girl got topped today and she's finally starting to go vertical. The mom doesn't look to have been stressed to much. Hopefully she takes off. Happy growing everyone. It's almost the weekend!!

Bushy girls, they look healthy, how long til you flip em?

That is a very good question sir. Elephant girl aka lil fat leaf is staying so short and bushy lol. I'd like them to get a bit more height. My last grow I was left with 18" or more of grow space and I'd like to cut that down. I'm kind of just playing it by ear right now. I'll get a shot of the entire space here in a few minutes and you'll have an idea of what I'm working with.

Mine were about 10" when I flipped and I'd say if they were straight up and not all bent and twisted with the screen theyd be about 26-30" now 4 weeks later.

OK awesome. Thats a good reference to have. When they get a bit taller Ill start with the screen. Thanks :)

In my only DWC experience the plant I grew was about 14 inches tall when I flipped it to 12/12 and it easily tripled in size before it was done (it finished up at 4 ft wide and 3.5ft tall), I ended up having to supercrop the shit out of it early flower and tie it down in late flower as it nearly outgrew the tent. That said I've seen some that were flipped at 24 inches tall and finish at 36-40, so I think its pretty dependent on strain and environment to be honest.

Personally if they were mine I'd probably lower that net by about 4-6 inches then flip to 12/12 when they are about 2-3 inches through screen and keep tucking back under the net for the first 7 or so days of stretch, then just let em go .

Another thing to consider is that using the full height of your tent may not equate to more yield...the light will only penetrate so far (maybe 12 -18 inches, it can be more or less of course depending on your lights etc) through the canopy so if you let them get 'too tall' you may end up with just 18 inches of wasted space below the main canopy with no light getting to it and therefore no buds. Effectively I tend to belive that if you can keep the plant under 2-3 feet tall, but totally fill out a nice flat level canopy, you will yield a lot more and in a much shorter time frame than growing tall plants that can't get light to lower half and take way longer to veg.

Just my $0.02, there are plenty of people better qualified than I to advise...but still I'm high so I thought I'd share
Keepem greem ✌

Tripled in size!! Geez! Thats crazy. Ill have to keep an eye on things. I dont want them so tall they get to close to the light. The net slides up and down. I just have it up there for ease of access at the moment. Ill definitely bring it down soon, when they get a little more vertical. I appreciate the input! Keep it coming. The more minds the better. :)
